Built the set this week and I gotta say both the exterior and interior detail is unpreceeded in this series. It puts all other modulars to shame, especially when displayed together. I really hope TLG continues this track - I'd much rather have slightly smaller buidlng with lots on detail than big empty shells (like Town Hall).

Does anyone have an image of the set combined with some of the other modulars? The size has been quite a talking point but I haven't seen many images to go with the debate.

I'm not getting drawn back into the PR debate, but Town Hall is far from a 'big empty shell'. I've built it three times (as I have most of the modulars) and would place it in the middle of the pack as far as modulars go. Just because a modular doesn't have hundreds of small non structural components doesn't make it an empty shell. I'm looking forward to buying three more town halls and creating a larger building.

The Parisian Rest. and all the modulars after the 2008 are great in inner details. Only The cafe corner and the Market street are empty which is very annoying. But this can be done by your own creative ideas ;)

And, we have to cut TLG some slack on the CC and MS interiors. CC was the first and MS was AFOL designed. TLG hit their stride with GG.

Here is a photo of my modulars with the PR next to the TH, I think they scale well together. The floors on the TH are taller though.

I find it amusing to see so many city layouts sitting on dining tables or kitchen counters. Unless you're living alone, I suspect that arrangement is brief and tense.

The 'stock' town hall in all of these photos looks so square and out of proportion, especially next to the PR. I've ordered another TH and will probably stop by the Lego store tomorrow to get an additional one. I need to make it about 16 wider on each side. Maybe I can put three together to get what I want. I suppose my complaint, if I had to be specific, about the town hall is based on proportion. I've exchanged emails with a couple of AFOLs who, like me, are buying multiples of the same modular not for investment purposes, but to get a little more size contrast amongst the buildings in our 'cities'.

Here is a photo of my modulars with the PR next to the TH, I think they scale well together. The floors on the TH are taller though.

Actually the individual floors of the Townhall are the same as the PR's. It's just TH has an elevated foundation at the bottom. (OK the briefing room / courtroom is down below at baseplate level, but effectively most of the ground floor of TH is elevated.) That's where most of the extra height of the floors comes from. It's the PC and especially the FB that have the extra height to the floors themselves.

I'm the big LEGO fan at my house, and even I don't *really* like it when my partner builds sets on the dining table (I guess I'm also a big fan of dining, at tables)... although I do appreciate that this only further enables my LEGO habit.

Haha, that is a funny observation. I always assumed that was a sign that someone was probably single. I know my wife has been very generous and patient with my hobbies occupying our shared spaces. In more recent years, I have really made an effort to keep my interests contained to my basement space. I also maintain and collect classic bicycles.... so you can imagine the mess that I would make when dissasebling and cleaning an old bike. Did I mention how excellent my wife is?

I finished building the Parisian Restaurant yesterday and I love it. The colour scheme and all the small details are excellent.

I did mine reversed as I wanted the terrace on the left not the right.

A few pics below. One clam is missing because it kept popping open so I've got it squashed between some bricks to hopefully teach it to stay shut!

So, only commenting now because I just finished building the restaurant. I was very impressed with the details; the roof is a work of art in itself.

As a side note, I often build these with my family, the numbered bags and multiple instruction books make it easy, as does the modular make up of the floors; I did books 2 and 3, and my wife and daughter did book 1 (which was twice as much, so it works out). I just wanted to point out for those who like building that way that this is a great set to do it.

When building I noticed that I had 2 black 1x4 tiles missing but had 4 1x2 tiles in tan left over!

I had one too many green 1x2 bricks, and one too few gray ones. Yes, I double-checked every step, and nothing is out of place.

I didn't care, since I had them on hand, and I think sand green is more valuable than gray.

This building is stunning. I'm eagerly awaiting the next Lego Store discount event or double VIP points to get it and start creating a 'European' modular street.
