Whats the rarest/oldest piece of Lego you have in your collections?

I originally thought that these things were rare in dark green:

Being that they were only available in some hard-to-find sets and all. I bought two a while back for a small MOC, because it jut HAD to be in that colour.

Now I see that someone's got nearly 300 of the buggers. How the heck does that happen?

I have a couple of 2 x 2 round tiles in trans-clear. They have never appeared in any set (although they are not exactly all that rare on BrickLink) but they are probably one of the rarest parts I own (its the only one I can think of that I own that isn't in any set)

Hmmm sounds rare to me. I've been extremely lucky this year as one of my friends gave me a large amount of old Lego pieces including a few wolfpack renegades from quite a while back.

I don't know about rarest, but I know some pieces that I've found that have made me happiest when I got them, scraped from the bottom of some weird bucket found secondhand from golly-knows-where. I am sure I have some "rarer" things - (I have some misprinted minifig heads)

When I was a kid I got a couple of the Old Castle Armor Shops (1986 http://brickset.com/detail/?set=6041-1) - and the minifig sword (it was black and I believe only came in this set) became the most deadly of weapons in my Lego World. I'm happy to say I have a few of these black swords now (Though I don't necessarily know where they are! a quest!)

I think what I feel is most special to me, now that I have a toddler-child, is that I have all the pieces to this Fabuland set, including the Fridge and all its food tiles - she loves playing with this...

Nice wooden LEGO truck Modulex Guy!! Those are becoming very collectible and oh so valuable....

Wooden toys were made by TLG from the very beginning in 1932, until Feb. 4 1960, when the wooden toy LEGO factory/warehouse burned down, and TLG decided not to rebuild it, but stick to LEGO plastic toys.

Here's an example of a LEGO wooden Tanker Truck, a plastic LEGO Esso Tanker Truck in 1:43 scale (early versions had tankers of wood, later versions had tankers of plastic), and a 1:87 LEGO Esso Tanker Truck. Wooden toys were 1932-60, 1:43 plastic trucks were 1953-57, and 1:87plastic vehicles were 1955-70...

No one has yet written a collectors guide on LEGO wooden toys, and no one yet has written a collectors guide on the 1:43 plastic trucks as of yet... but I am almost done with a guide for that short production scale... just not sure if I'm going to make it separate from my Unofficial LEGO Sets/Parts Collectors Guide, or include it as a chapter.

Mine's probably the trans-neon green chainsaw blade if you go by number of Bricklink listings. I don't have any kits pre 1994 so I can't go back too far. I'd love to add one of the old vehicles though!

I have one of the trailers pictured below. No idea where the truck is or if I ever had it. I also have all of my sets from the 80s to mid 90s although most of those are not rare.

I have a truck very similar to the one posted above, but it is a Mercedes one, at least it has a Mercedes logo on the front from what I can discern. I like the barrel truck posted above as well.

I have a single white wing piece that is 4x8 and has a rounded corner (3x3 studs) area. The bottom has square holes, only located directly opposite to the studs; there are no center holes like you'll find in normal plates these days. I have no idea where this piece comes from and could not find it in the brickset database.

I also have a large yellow 21-tooth gear that is 8 studs in diameter, and some printed parts from an old space-themed set, including something that resembles a large tv-screen with a rocket about to be launched to the moon. That space-set is almost complete but i did some nasty things to the base-plates when I was in my early teens and the minifigures are not in very good shape either, unfortunately.

I have a lot of ordinary bricks (Mostly red and white.) bought for me from around 1970 onwards. I have a couple of 4.5V train motors that have stickers on them (When you open the case.) saying they were made in 1967, which makes them a year older than me. I don't know if I have any really rare stuff, but I have a lot of LEGO both just bricks and sets from the 1970's through to around 1996'ish.

I do still have the baseplate for a really old ferry boat that the ends opened up on and you could run your train inside. I had endless fun with this as a child, but as I got older I kind of lost a bit of interest when I noticed there was not anywhere to put the crew/passengers as although it had windows around the top there was no floor or anything above the train holding section making it rather unrealistic. I note on Brick Link a couple of those base plates selling for around £40.00 which seems ridiculous to me! I suppose that maybe rare, I am not sure?

I have lots of misprinted pieces, but by far my favorite is really rare (I haven't seen one like it before) and extremely useful. I have an angry-face Buzz with no dirt printing.

For my rarest non-misprint pieces, well... I do own a Mr. Gold. So all of his pieces.
