LegoPanda Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) i have a regular smiling mini fig head with the printing a little to high from set 6022, so it looks really weird with the helmet. i also got two bionicle misprint masks from 2001 Edited November 19, 2013 by LegoPanda Quote
The Architect Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 The head sounds cool. Ive heard a fair bit about these misprint masks but never actually seen one. Quote
mechamike Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) I have a few correct prints on the wrong colour minfig head. A Jek-14 3626cpb1012 head in white and a light flesh head with Nick Fury print sh056 but my favorite is the olive green zombie head.. 3626bpb752. They are not ultra rare but cool. The Architect Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Yes I really like the sound of the Nick Fury one... Quote
jonwil Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Those just look like random broken pieces, or am I missing something? I think those aren't broken but molded wrong (that or they were melted at some point) Quote
just2good Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Wow did you feel for Mr gold or just get lucky? I felt for him. I got him back in June of this year, and I still have him. I don't wanna sell him. Woah the buzz is cool, and Mr Gold too? Some people have all the luck! Quote
iradd Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) Here's a 1953-57 1:43 BP Barrel Truck with Propane tanks made of wood... with the (very rare) box it came in it.... nice collection you have .. Edited November 22, 2013 by Rick Please don't quote images unnecessarily Quote

4everLego Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Once again the Historian boggles the mind! Those are awesome trucks! Quote
Brandon Miller Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 It's not a brivk or anything, but here's a shirt I had as a kid back in the early 80s. Hangs in my son's closet now. Quote
LEGO Historian Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) Once again the Historian boggles the mind! Those are awesome trucks! Thanks 4everLego! Here's some more of those trucks... these are 1:43 LEGO Chevrolet Wagons... only sold in Denmark and Norway... The first one is an Electric Company Truck, the 2nd is a Police Paddy Wagon, the 3rd is a Milk Truck, and the 4th is an Ambulance... all date from 1953-57..... Also... for those who think I'm swimming in rare old LEGO.... sigh... that's not the case..... I'm working on a new LEGO collectors guide for the 1:43 LEGO Chevrolet trucks. No one has yet none one. That and continuing to expand my 1949-90 sets/parts collectors guide, and working on a monumental one for 1990-2014. So much work, so little time.... Edited November 23, 2013 by LEGO Historian Quote
Cap't black brick Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 The Balloon from 5956-1: Expedition Balloon. Took me forever to find it at a reasonable price. Quote
brickbuilder711 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Since I got into LEGO in the late 90s, not much old stuff but more rare stuff. It's hard to determine which is THE rarest but here are come contenders, in fact the Sand Blue 2*2 round could be the one but I'll leave it open for interpretation. The ones in bold are available in no more than two sets: Level crossing gates from 4539 Old 70s windows - Oldest on record Sand Blue 4*8 wings and 2*2 round brick (I have two, could see it on my CSX engines and it's a miracle to consider how I wound up with it in the Bonus Box) MdGreen 1*1 clips Dark blue 1*1 round plate Btgreen 1x1 minifig head. I have about four or five, you can see it in my Starbucks moc on Flickr. Sand Red 1*6 tile and 1*2 plate with clip Quote
tomdobs55 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 The Balloon from 5956-1: Expedition Balloon. Took me forever to find it at a reasonable price. It's unbelievable that that one piece is selling for roughly the same as the entire set is selling for on bricklink. Quote
antp Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) Dark blue 1*1 round plate Btgreen 1x1 minifig head Do you have the set 4518 like I do? ( http://www.bricklink...nv.asp?S=4518-1 ) As in that set there were that kind of "random" parts (in rare colors) Same for 4562 which included even more random parts (cf bags info on http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/4562-1 , each set contained a random selection amongst there) Due to these, I have many parts in strange colors not really used in sets, only found in these "bricks sets". About old unusual parts, I have a "Slope 45 2 x 2 Double Convex / Double Concave" http://www.bricklink...gItem.asp?P=962 but it does not seem especially rare as it is cheap and common on Bricklink Still useful anyway :) http://mocpages.com/...992/13751972334 Edited November 25, 2013 by antp Quote
snaillad Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I have the smooth princess Leia hair bun piece. I read somewhere it was apparently rare as it's a mismould. Not sure if anyone can confirm this. I have been using it as as any other hairpiece for MOC's not treating it with any such care! Quote

I wish! I was lucky enough in 2004, when I turned 10 (now 19) to exchange birthday gifts for 4679 at Toys R Us, noticing the whole thing out of dumb luck (frankly I remember my mom chose the set). This was probably one of my best decisions yet, and got me a lot of the parts seen in both of those boxes. However, I blew a second opportunity to get 4679 in 2005 as a red bucket, really wish I did so! On the other hand, it's not like many of those rare parts got used well since of course they were in low quantities, but still I'm very happy I got the box that I got. The box even got me parts not in those two sets, the Sand Blue 2x2 rounds listed above being one of them. I don't recall the 4518/4562 making it to the US markets. Sadly on a related topic I saw 4400 at KB Toys once upon a time, still kicking myself for not getting it. EDIT: Discovered from the stash, 1 1x1 tile in Sand Blue. Apparently came only in a Mini TIE fighter even though I scored it in 4679! Guess I gotta insure that piece, lol. Edited November 26, 2013 by brickbuilder711 Quote
antp Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) I got these sets with random parts around 2007-2008 (just after my "dark age"), on Ebay, still brand new and sealed, surprisingly no-one else placed a bid :) They should do that again, to get rid of random extra parts they have (as I guess it is why they did that...) LegoPanda Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 The head sounds cool. Ive heard a fair bit about these misprint masks but never actually seen one. the misprint masks arent actual that rare, but i do keep them from the others so the don't damage like some of my other masksi also just found out that the two black falcons i have, got their coloring on the crest logo in the opposite direction ( one silver left and black right, the other black left and silver right) Quote
DrJB Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I recall, when bionicle first came out, some of the masks were 'defective' and not meant to be released. Some people have them, and those count as 'rare'. Quote

ElCrab Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Oh joy. Post 100! I'm a real boy! I don't know about rarest, but I know some pieces that I've found that have made me happiest when I got them, scraped from the bottom of some weird bucket found secondhand from golly-knows-where. I am sure I have some "rarer" things - (I have some misprinted minifig heads) When I was a kid I got a couple of the Old Castle Armor Shops (1986 http://brickset.com/detail/?set=6041-1) - and the minifig sword (it was black and I believe only came in this set) became the most deadly of weapons in my Lego World. I'm happy to say I have a few of these black swords now (Though I don't necessarily know where they are! a quest!) I had that set (I guess I still do), and I definitely still have the black sword. dhc6twinotter Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) I have two threaded 10L axle and nuts. The axles came in 4 sets offered during the late '80s. Not super rare, but probably the rarest parts I have. Edited December 11, 2013 by dhc6twinotter Quote
