danth Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Anyone seen this yet? I think if he's an important enough character to have his own poster and his own ride, it should be a set. Anyone else hopeful we'll get something like this? Edited November 18, 2013 by danth Quote
Galaxy Explorer Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 See? All those "sensor arrays" really were weapons! That's actually a nice looking ship. Too bad most of the poster is the character. Are the X-Wing engines available in blue? I know I don't have any, but maybe there's a Creator set with some. And that trans-yellow Sarlacc beak part looks great! I would love this as a set, but then I would need a complete revival of the theme, and not a simple one-off. Quote
Churchill Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Oh, that would be amazing. I hope it is a set to come... Quote
slacker int Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) Great to see a classic space styled ship making a cameo in the film. (Here's hoping we see an official set) There have been a few builders taking a stab at creating this over on flickr: rick 3891 https://www.flickr.c...s/22283081@N08/ Peter Morris https://www.flickr.com/photos/rival_m/ Lego Paige http://www.flickr.co...02/10822876846/ Edited November 19, 2013 by slacker int Quote
danth Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Thanks for the images, Slacker. Those look great! Man, I really hope this becomes a set! Quote
Churchill Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I'd bet that if this becomes a set it would be one of the best sellers in the line. Poor guy looks like he has teeth marks on him. Quote
Artanis I Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 A real throwback, but better. I find it hilarious to see the bite marks, scuffed print and cracked chin guard on the classic spaceman! Quote
jtr Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) would love this set, all my great lego childhood memories could be re-lived Edited November 19, 2013 by jtr Quote
drclark Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Wow! This movie poster inspired me to finally register an post. I love the throw back to the classic space theme and hope to see the little ship available as a set! Would love to buy a couple so me and my 3 year old could swoosh them around the house! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 There had been a lot of talk about him regarding the movie. They have shown 13 of 17 rumored sets, so it is possible it will be a summer release. I can't see why they wouldn't release something involving classic space since they hit every other lego theme. Quote
Captain Settle Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 But the question is, would the minifigure be made broken in a set? Quote
tomdobs55 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Charlie day is the spaceman?! Sign me up...as if I wasn't going to see it anyway... Quote

DPrime Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 But the question is, would the minifigure be made broken in a set? I'm guessing no, since Vetruvius' staff isn't a used lollipop stick mold... I'm thinking Lego will leave it up to us to make both of these characters "movie accurate" if we really want. :) The real question is will it include the original helmet mold? Quote

I'm thinking Lego will leave it up to us to make both of these characters "movie accurate" if we really want. :) The real question is will it include the original helmet mold? I have two ideas on this: 1) They could have a sort of rubberized helmet with a little tab in the chinstrap so you can "break" it if desired or have it unbroken 2) Lego NEEDS to make the old helmet with a brand new clear VISOR that fits it. That would be the coolest thing to ever happen. Actually surprised that nobody has made custom clear visors for old helmets. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Old helmets aren't hard to make "movie accurate"... I got some of them that already are Quote
Captain Settle Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Old helmets aren't hard to make "movie accurate"... I got some of them that already are I treat my old spacemen like royalty, as they are so easy to break. No way to prevent the logo wearing away though... Quote
danth Posted November 21, 2013 Author Posted November 21, 2013 If this is released as a set I would get at least like 4 of them. At a minimum. Quote
Cap't black brick Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Are the X-Wing engines available in blue? I know I don't have any, but maybe there's a Creator set with some. they only came in the Alien Conquest 7067-1: Jet-Copter Encounter set Quote
Front Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 The funny thing is that the helmet shown here is not the same design as the old space helmets I have (from some of the early space sets). On my helmets the chin flows into the rest of the helmet without any ridge. Quote
edmau5 Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Got to love the old Space sets. I was wondering what the sets were when I got my first box of Lego from my Uncle. Might have to remake some tomorrow E Quote
DPrime Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Old helmets aren't hard to make "movie accurate"... I got some of them that already are That's just it. I'm sure Lego figures we can make him "accurate" if we really want to. they only came in the Alien Conquest 7067-1: Jet-Copter Encounter set Does that mean this ship is already buildable? Quote
danth Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Does that mean this ship is already buildable? I don't think that canopy exists in yellow. Quote
