allbrickcitymain.JPG

I have been working on this for quite some time now.

I do not have much to show right now. ( edit, and especially after i accidentally deleted all the pictures of the first house i had just photoshopped :/ ).

I got bored with building castle and had promised myself after having found all my childhood LEGO i wanted to build, first, Classic space ( my stepson voted for that. ) then castle, and then city.

I had this idea for a city diorama when i saw the first trailer for the LEGO movie and that was what i wanted to build. However when i started on making the build i got in a LEGO state of mind i had never experienced before.

City ( i thought ) have always bored me, and i got this idea that it was all about raising 4 walls adding a roof ... Job done.

But i got pulled in and decided to make it modular because it really took me to a dimension of thinking in between putting bricks together of how i wanted it all to come together.

Well, i bet all you city dudes know what im talking about. And now im so glad that i got this idea for the LEGO movie diorama. But that will not be finished quite yet.

Now, first of all i want my city to take shape build by build as a lot of you guys do in this forum. ( Edit: Again, im so sorry for posting only one picture but i have to wait till tomorrow to make my whole light setup and once again edit the pictures).

Some dudes came with this construction worker to a really abandoned part of Denmark shooting for a new movie. It was all about assembling the biggest event in history catching it on HB cameras to take it to the big screen. Offcourse exactly at that moment the dudes with the power and funds in the small community took advantage of this and almost immediately started to lay a ground plan for a new city. It was to be called Allbrickcity. And nothing should be spared ( except for what i can afford of new bricks each month :P ).

Finally after several months of plannig and having the roadsystem functioning, building materials have started to arive at the center. And boy the workers look happy to finally being able to begin working on what will make the city attractive for newcomers.

( They got bored with making that first building. All it got for now is: First floor - BricksAreUs. Second floor - Two apartments. Top floor - Skyline buffet) ( Edit: These were all the pictures i was stupid enough to get deleted somehow ).

1.

The exterior of this modular build is "finished" but ive been looking so much at all of the textures that im afraid ive gone blind with it and wanted some advice from you all of what to change and what looks good.

That will have to wait for now till i get new shots. :/

allbrickcityteaser.jpg

Anyhow. I still wanted to start the topic.

First of all my road system, im not quite happy with yet. Every module here ( Which offcourse is hard to differentiate from one picture only :P ) is diffrent. As i builded them i got new ideas and changed my design for the next and so on. Mostly the problems is with making the bricks add up in ratio to make them fit on a larger scale. I will add pictures again once i get them shot and put the rest of the text in here.

I also want to keep a ratio for builds to a 8 - 16 - 32 studs. But since that wasnt my intention at first since i started all this to make the LEGO movie diorama, i will keep my "town square" a bit of ratio since i do love the building a lot. But who knows, i might rebuild it in the future.

So the roadsystem as it is for now is an assurance for myself. Building bigger i would need more bricks. I just wanted to make sure that i didnt "overkill" myself thinking i got enough bricks to make it bigger. But i also wanted to have a layout since i mostly build on several ideas at once. Making it this way i both restrain myself and make sure i wont get to a hold not knowing what to do next.

Ive noticed that building city really eats up bricks. I thought i had made some massive builds in the past, but i think that my first modular build is the heaviest ive ever made ( size compared) and i havent even added a lot of interior yet.

But, next up for the first modular build for my Allbrickcity is interior and a whole lot of labels and decals. Ive just ordered the printing paper and i still need to photoshop a lot more of the decals before they are ready. Ive begun on the interior and also wanted some advice on design for the skyline buffet resturant. But no photos no advices i guess. :P

allbrickcityteaser2.jpg

Other builds ive planned for my city:

The low left corner is the only base i havent build yet. Im in doubt of where to make an entrance to the beach im plannig.

All the bases to the right will have houses and shops. Again. Since im not entirely sure where to place the beach i dont know where to place a hotel and swimmingpool design. But it could be placed on the right here, extending the baseplates already there.

Otherwise the harbour will be located here along the whole lenght of the roadsytem.

Im gonna incoporate my crypt from my castle build to fit in my city also ( Chronicle of dragon dent ).

I offcourse have a lot of ideas to fill up remaining baseplates. But im trying to take it slow and only build when i get what i think is an awesome idea.

Once again sorry for that lonely picture, but i had written so much text around all the pictures i was gonna upload and then screwed. So im posting this anyways.

Good thing is that at least i get to start my city post. Ive been looking forward to this.

So much more to come.

Please do comment, ask questions, give advices and so on.

Thanks in advance. :)

I like the corner building.......hmm, those red trim doors......classic town bike shop ?

Yes indeed its from the classic town bike shop. And it might sound stupid but im so glad that sticker is still there.

Thing is all my tfol LEGO was flooded two years ago, almost at the same time i felt in love with LEGO again ( had my dark age lasting some 20 years ). So almost all original stickers was destroyed and the few boxes i had kept from my original sets. And i also thought that all my original building instructions were down there and i was seriously close to crying.

But as you see a few stickers did "survive" and lucky as i was i had moved a box of playmobil to my sister for her kids to play with, and in there were most of my building instructions. ( Hence the Maersk 1651 that has just brought building materials to my city ) .

Hope you will drop by my post when i get to post the intended photos, cause im sure you will be able to lead me toward a nice solution to a problem i have with an entrance leading to the top floor.

Thanks for looking by !! :D

It's tricky, but with sticker sheets and finding images of the stickers online you can replace the missing one's......though it does take a bit of trial and error to get it right.....I should know.

This is shaping up to be a great little town! I love the brick built roads, they look great so far  Good to see so much planning going into it too!

Don't forget to add your town to the Town Layout Index, that way we can check up on updates really easily

I havent had any time to build or take pictures or do a proper setup whole week. And my schedule for next week looks like its gonna be the same.

So i used my hours this evening to do a quick update on what i had promised already a week ago.

The first modular of my city.

As mentioned first floor will hold a BricksRUs.

Second floor apartments.

Top floor Skyline buffet. Its plasticlicious. :D

square1.JPG

square2.JPG

Its all modular. But i havent made a lot of interior yet.

I will offcourse post whenever i get a build finished.

square3.JPG

The crypt in the background will be modified to fit in my city since i love that build. In the foreground a new building site is taking shape.

square4.JPG

Backside and topview of the square center so far.

square10.JPG

The building havent yet been closed on the backside.

As mentioned it was ment to just be a diorama for the LEGO movie, but i decided to make a town, so a lot of changes is in progress.

square11.JPG

Backside of the squarecenter. This is a snackbar. Im thinking that the whole street here on the backside will become a shoppingstreet, and it will also lead to a nice overview of the beach im planning.

square12.JPG

square13.JPG

Some of all the sets i will incorporate with the city as it evolves.

square14.JPG

This is the first vehicle ive ever made without instructions.

The Maersktruck.

In my LEGO universe Maersk is constructing buildings.

Well, for now. This and the 1651 will be part of the harbour when i get to building that.

maersktruck1.JPG

maersktruck2.JPG

maersktruck3.JPG

But im quite happy with it. I think it looks just as i would expect a Maersk truck to look like.

maersktruck4.JPG

Im in the progress of building a crane. But i wanted it to have some playability. But its quite hard to make a functionel crane with technic on minifig scale without making it "to big" to fit my cityscale. But its still in progress.

So much more to come.

Also the lime green building that is shown on some of thye pictures will not be a part of the town as it looks now. I just wondered if i had enough bricks in limegreen to build a building like that so it was merely a beta build.

Now please ask questions and give advices on what is good and bad as i want to learn all i can from you town builders since im new with all this.

Thanks in advance. :)

Looks very nice so far. I especially like the SNOT roads and pavements, as could be expected.

The building is nice, too. Looking forward to the further development of this.

Thanks.

Im looking forward expanding it also. Im so loving building cit and modulars. Its so much more tricky than i would have thought. :)

Im now considering the exterior of my first modular build somewhat done.

I think that thereis only minor details i will have to tweak and change.

bricksrus1.JPG

bricksrus2.JPG

bricksrus3.JPG

bricksrus4.JPG

bricksrus5.JPG

Ive only begun on the interior. Here topfloor the resturant and the kitchen.

bricksrus6.JPG

Second floor. Two apartments will be located here.

bricksrus7.JPG

The BricksRus store and the backside snackbar.

bricksrus8.JPG

When all the interior is done i still need all the stickers im also in progress of making.

So still a long way to go.

As always please do comment to help me get better. I really appreciate advices on what is looking way off and what is good.

Thanks in advance. :)

Looking good 'LEGO Family'.......Bricks-R-Us eh ?

My heart sank a little......I hope you didn't trash the 1979 snack bar to build your orange one ?

Anyway, keep going and Brick On 'LEGO Family' ! :sweet:

Thanks. :)

Noo, i didnt trash it. It has been tared since my childhood.

If it wasnt that the original baseplate for it is broken and the streetsign as well, i would probably have used it as it was with a few tweaks.

Now im making it brand new instead. Hopefully giving it the respect and glory it deserves.

Time will tell. :D

And yes BricksRus!!!!!

Also you should visit the skyline buffet when it opens. Its plasticlicious !! :P

Good I might be hungry soon ! LOL

Pity about the sign and base plate......the snack bar was my third favourite Lego Town set I had as a child (number two - 377 Shell and number one - yellow fire station  )

I still look forward to your city progressing........planning a supermarket are we ? (need ideas if you are.....check out some of my designs for inspiration.) :classic:

Then you should definately try their tiled roundplate friends flower burgers, theyre awesome ! :P

Yes indeed. The snackbar and the bicycle store was some of my favorite sets. Also the maersk truck. And the yellow castle and a lot of the neo classic space sets. lol. I could go on.

Im seriously just glad that my old TFOL LEGO was in as good condition as it was after it all got flooded.

So im in no way complaining. I just have to get the best use of what i have of all my old pieces.

Speaking of which.

A new building is taking shape next to the BricksRus and Skyline buffet.

This is gonnna be the vintage tile art gallery.

Interesting art gallery.....jazz club next to it maybe next eh ?

Brick On 'LEGO Family' !

Im am thinking of building a pub.But it would be more like the kind of italian mob style club with an illegal casino in the back of it.

However i think that my fire department will be placet next to the gallery. But i will soon have to decide where i will place my beach and harbour for all of it to come together.

If the firedepartment aint gonna be placed next to gallery, it will be placed on the opposite side of the road to BricksRus, and a hotel next to the gallery.

fdpwip1.JPG

Oh and i just saw your note from an earlier post. :D

I havent planned a supermarket yet.

I think im already in the progress of so many builds already, but a supermarket would also be nice to have in the long run.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Very appreciated :)

Ha, a modern Speakeasy.....you'll need an Al Capone type character running the place won't you ?

I look forward to seeing it......Brick On 'LEGO Family' !

I got all the minifig dudes already. But what i really need is the LEGO dollar bills. They wont give them up that easily. Dont know how or why.But even thou i have quit a nice collection of LEGO i dont have even one dollar tile in my collection. Think ive had those gangster minifigs around for to long, not giving my police squad orders to keep them under surveliance !!

I got an idea for how i would like my texure to look for a firedepartment for Allbrickcity, and i havent been able to stop building on it ever since.

Just a teaser shot.

More pictures tomorrow i think.

Hope you like it so far. :)

Thanks Kermit and lightningtiger.

Im looking forward to finish the snackbar. I have some ( in my own mind ) great ideas for interior.

The firetruck is still very much in its design phase. But ill allow a few shots. Then i can also show some of the progress of the fire department at the same time.

firetruckwip1.JPG

firetruckwip2.JPG

firetruckwip3.JPG

I know how i want it to be done but i havent figured out all the methods im gonna use yet.

For this second build of the firetruck i know im gonna take its hight down by 2plates thickness and im gonna need to change the rear once again. ( probably somewhat back to the lone teaser shot of my last post before this).

But i like how its coming together and it will be able to hold so much equipment.

As always please do give advices for good or bad.

Thanks in advance. :)

Nice work on Allbrick City, it's coming along 3onderfully. I love brickbuilt roads and would love to use them one day, but I'm afraid of how many bricks would be needed. Keep up the great work :classic:

Very nice station house and a very interesting fire truck 'LEGO Family'.......can't wait to see what's next......Brick On !

Thanks lightningtiger. :)

The firetruck is build around what most firetrucks in Denmark looks like.

I hope it will turn out as nice as it looks in my mind. :D

Thanks a lot.

And indeed the roads take up so many bricks. Im surprised that i still have some black left, but when i need to expand my roadsystem by more that two baseplates i will definately need to p,lace a brick link order.... But it just looks so much better this way imo. :)

Thanks. Hope that i wont dissapoint you. Im just building my own style kind of thing trying to incorporate what i loved about LEGO from when i was a TFOL somewhat trying to incorporate it with how it has evolved over the years.

Now, i showed the front of my vintage art gallery a while ago. That was very much just a tablescrap of how the front could possibly look.

This was it: vintageartgallery.JPG

The last couple of days i got hooked on it again and made it evolve somewhat rebuilding almost everything.

This is how it has turned out:

Their is a reason why i have made the whole layout of Allbrickcity raised.

At some point i want to incorporate a subway, but i also wanted the sea connecting the beach and harbor to have these diffrent levels to them. This also gives me the possibility to build cellars beneath my modular builds.

This will be the first to have one. But as you can se its not their yet.

The roof im not sure about. Im thinking the dude living here ( or maybe the lone cat woman from the upcoming LEGO the movie ) will have a lot of plants up here.

Or maybe it should be the place where the tile artist paint a few new ones. Suggestions is allowed. :D

artgallerywip1.JPG

I also wanted this building to be a mad one.

Trying to make it look old, new. Look castle still city.

Giving it these touches in my mind would make the tiles and printed brick it will hold in the end give that look that i feel will give them the "show" they need.

Anyhow here is the backyard.

artgallerywip2.JPG

I think that the dude owning this gallery gets a bliss growing carrots and herbs in his sparetime. Well, he can sit here in the backyard on his bench enjoying himself in between their is customers in his shop that will never be able to buy anything from him cause he is so in love with his bricks. :D

artgallerywip3.JPG

Seconfloor. As you can se its still very much a work in progress.

artgallerywip4.JPG

artgallerywip5.JPG

first floor. Next few pictures just showing what is going on at the moment.

When i come along more tiles hidden in my collection i think is worth showing they will also be added here offcourse.

artgallerywip6.JPG

artgallerywip7.JPG

artgallerywip8.JPG

Next, this crypt was something i made for a castle build.

I really love it and somewhat wants to make it fit in my city.

cryptwip1.JPG

However, im not really sure if these skeletons coming out the graves will fit my peacefull city. :P

cryptwip2.JPG

So ive begun stripping it down.

cryptwip3.JPG

This is what it looks like by now.

cryptwip4.JPG

Im thinking of turning it into a church. But im really not quite sure what to do with it.

If ytou have any suggestions please dont be scared to share. I really want it to fit with Allbrickcity. Thanks in advance. :)

cryptwip5.JPG

So next post from Allbrickcity.

Ive been making a lot of builds, but i havent had the whole of the townlayout put together. Im thinking that will be my next mission, to make all my new modulars fit and to be able to get started on adding some life to the city and possibly begin working on the beach and harbour. I will also add two or three more baseplates of road system.

Lets see what time will bring.

As always please do comment and give me some feedback on what you think of it all.

Thanks in advance. :)
