Posted November 19, 201311 yr Hi, after I got out of my dark age, and after finishing a few official sets its time for my first real MOC, (beside motorizing my 8070). I really like the bodyworks of the 41999 crawler. And I got my hands on a used RC-buggy set. So the plan is, fit the bodyworks on a chassis based on the RC-receiver-unit driven by the 2 buggy motors. (different color for the body of course ;) maybe standard blue and white if the panels can be substituted) So the question to all of you professionals. What rims/tires would fit to the scale of the 41999 body if it was a normal car, not a crawler? (and yes, I will probably need to change the form of the mudguards to make it look "right") regards Lighti
November 19, 201311 yr For muscle car, this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32296pb01 Those are cheaper, but might not be big enough: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=44772c04
November 19, 201311 yr Author that big? I thought the size of the 41999 body was slightly smaller than my 8070? It seems that my "size feeling" was totally wrong. Anybody happen to have a picture with those 2, for size comparison?
November 19, 201311 yr If you look for the boss mod thread there are pictures of a mod i did using the wheels and tyres from the current grand prix car Edited November 19, 201311 yr by Seasider
November 19, 201311 yr Ahhh... I so wanted 8285 wheels to fit to 41999's body. But they are too small :(
November 19, 201311 yr Ahhh... I so wanted 8285 wheels to fit to 41999's body. But they are too small :( best way is to use Wheel/Tire combination from 42000 set. Do not neglect turning radius with Wheel/Tire combination
November 19, 201311 yr Author @seasider: sorry, but with those wheels it looks somehow, weird ;) but thanks for pointing me to the 41999 Pimp my Boss thread. There are some nice photoshoped pics with different wheels. And it seems without modifications of the body there are no wheels that really fit the scale. the ones from 8041 seem to small, best fitting I think are the ones from 8285. But I will have to do major modifications to the body, to lower the wheel arches so that it doesnt look so "high" well, no one said it would be easy ;)
November 19, 201311 yr I think you should use these for the front wheels: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=44772c01 and these for the rear wheels: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=44777 I think a 41999 drift car would be awesome, buggy motors would make it OP.
November 20, 201311 yr Author Those wheels are slightly to big, at least they look somehow weird, as seen in the photshopped pic in the 41999 pimp my boss thread. I will try the ones from the 8285, for those exist even metallic silver lego rims. (but expensive ;) ) I tested the RC Buggy set to see if all the parts are working, and it drifts already with the rubber wheels on our wooden floor. So depending on the weight of the final bodykit, the final thing might drift as well. If it does, I will upload my first youtube video ;)
November 20, 201311 yr Yes i agree there's no wheels really suited to the body as it is for a standard car layout. Personally i think the body needs to be higher by a 1 or 2 bricks and perhaps wider by a few too.
November 21, 201311 yr Author yeah you are right, I just calculated a little bit, and the 8285 tires (62.4mm D. x 20mm) are nearly exactly a scale of 1:10 of tires used for example on the '69 Mustang, so I will stick with those. To have the body match the 1:10 scale, it has to be around 5! studs wider though. length and distance between tires and such have yet to be calculated. A nice winter project, I have nearly all the side panels in red and yellow to get the bodywork done by design. Aaaaaand I just checked the 1H2014 models, they shall introduce all the required panels (but the 3x11) in blue!! So it might be possible to make one in blue/white, since the dark-blue from 41999 is out of question.
