jantjeuh Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) How about blue? Looks like 42024 is finally going to bring us some blue 5x11 panels. Might buy a copy of the set just for those. Edited October 25, 2013 by jantjeuh Quote
Ralf Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) I agree, blue is also an option. At the moment the 42008 is really cheap, some sets are sold by 70-80€. And new at Amazon 82,75€ include delivery, a good price. Edited October 25, 2013 by Ralf Quote
tfcrafter Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Hey guys, I'm having a hard time deciding which Technic set to buy: 8110 Unimog, 42009 Mobile Crane. 9397 Logging truck, or 8109 Flatbed Truck? Could you help me out here? Thanks. Quote
Jim Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Most of the time it boils down to when a set will be out of production. The 42009 will still be available for a while, so you might want to choose one of the other sets. The 8109 will disappear very soon. It's already very expensive if I am not mistaken. Although I am not the biggest fan I would still recommend getting the Unimog. It's an iconic set. Or get the 8109 while you still can. Quote
Ralf Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Hi, if you want to buy only one set i would take the 42009 Mobile Crane there are many parts and the building is great (about 9-12h if you are fast) Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 8110, you can always buy the 42009 later. Quote
N-4K0 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I'm with Jim on this. If you want the Unimog or Flatbed Truck or both, get them while they're still available. Quote
Freekysch Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 The Flatbed truck is already very hard to get, i tried to get my hands on it but no luck, for a MISB one you will pay alot (maybe you will still find it in some stores that have it on their inventory, if so, you can consider yourself lucky). Same as Jim, i'm not the biggest fan of 8110, but still it is a great set and maybe a must have, and you can still get it at a very good price. I like the Logging Truck 9397 also, it has a very nice design ! Even compared to 8285, side by side, 9397 still manages to looks good. Quote
Ralf Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 One ask, what is a high price for the flatbed 8109? Here are many of them to buy at a price of 65 up to 90€. Quote

Ralf Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 The new and sealed sets are in a range of 80-90€ include delivery for example this one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/LEGO-Technik-Abschlepptruck-mit-Power-Funktion-10-16-Jahre-Nr-8109-NEU-in-OVP-/121198674424?pt=DE_Allesf%C3%BCrdKind_Spielzeug_Lego&hash=item1c380101f8 The sets in new condition used are in a range of 65-80€ like this one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/LEGO-Technic-8109-Tieflader-Truck-Abschleppwagen-Power-Functions-m-OBA-/190918363205?pt=DE_Allesf%C3%BCrdKind_Spielzeug_Lego&hash=item2c739f0845 Quote
sorfri2 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Hey all, I am thinking of buing theese 2 models 8052 8053, Should i do this or is it a waste of money? :) Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Jim, please move this to the "What Technic Set Should I Buy" topic. Personally I would buy the 8053 though. :) Quote
sorfri2 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Oh sorry for putting it the wrong place :) Quote
D3K Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Even though many people dislike the 8053, I personally love it, so I would go for that + a power functions motor kit! As I see it, the only reason to go for the 8052 instead, would be for it's colour! Quote
Lost_In_Noise Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 8069 is your best bet on that price range. 8052 has very limited functions, and 8053's outriggers doesn't work... Just my 2 cents though. Quote
Junpei Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Yeah, but 8069 kind of sucks... It's my only technic set, and if it weren't for the good parts in it (4 mLA's, gears, etc.) I would have completely regretted buying it. Quote
D3K Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 [...] and 8053's outriggers doesn't work... They absolutely work! Just not very well... but try raising the crane and pulling down on the string on either side with and without the outriggers deployed, and you will definitely see that they work! Quote
burntrope Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Yeah, but 8069 kind of sucks... It's my only technic set, and if it weren't for the good parts in it (4 mLA's, gears, etc.) I would have completely regretted buying it. On brickset.com 8069 is the highest rated medium sized (<1000) technic set in the last 20 years. I personally loved everything about it - except the fact that my fingers got raw from turning those knobs over and over! Quote
Rishab N Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I like the 8053 as it is pretty nice for a smaller set Quote
Freekysch Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 8053 is a nice set, but nothing special about it. Although, 8069 is a real beauty, has so many functions, i love it (for its price i love it even more ). Quote
skriblez Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 8053 is also a very good parts set i think. Quote
Jim Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Even though many people dislike the 8053, I personally love it, so I would go for that + a power functions motor kit! It's a very good set. I thougt it wasn't interesting as well, but after the build I was surprised. I would like to call it a great set. Jim, please move this to the "What Technic Set Should I Buy" topic. Personally I would buy the 8053 though. :) Agree on the 8053 And moved to this topic Quote
DrJB Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Agree with the above. Though, I think a better use for both 8053 and 8069 is as loose parts for building D3K's swing loader. Quote
Jim Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Agree with the above. Though, I think a better use for both 8053 and 8069 is as loose parts for building D3K's swing loader. That's the added value Quote
