Posted November 22, 201311 yr Greetings, Here it is, another CCCXI entry. This time i picked a location from the novel "A Game of Thrones": The Flea Bottom. A Wiki of Ice and Fire describes it as follows: "Flea Bottom is what the slum area of King's Landing is called. A down-trodden area of town. It has pot-shops along the alleys where one can get a 'bowl o' brown.' It has a stench of pigsties and stables, tanner's sheds mixed in with the smell of winesinks and whorehouses. It is a maze of twisty, unpaved alleys and cross-streets below the Street of Flour on the way down the west side of Rhaenys's Hill. The buildings lean over the narrow alleys, almost touching." In contrast to the tv-series, the novel "A Game of Thrones" dedicates an entire Chapte to Arya Stark surviving in the Flea Bottom by cathing pidgeons and exchanging them for bowl o' brown. fleabottom1hr von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr fleabottom2 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr Fleabottom3 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr
November 22, 201311 yr Love your medieval town! Even though a guy is getting robbed, and a band of ill-willed, cruel, violent soldiers patrolling the neighbourhood, striking terror in the hearts of the Fleabottom dwellers, under the guise upholding the peace, and enforcing the laws of a (tyrant) king, the scenery you created still holds a kind of almost cosy atmosphere. It is certainly picturesque! I suppose it is very hard, if not almost impossible to capture in Lego, the wretched, ghastly, foul, pestilent squalor of a place such as Fleabottom. Unless maybe you actually smudge up your bricks with some real mud, or wait for the day TLC starts manufacturing ABS turds etcetera. Any way, well done!
November 22, 201311 yr loving it! really great Fachwerk houses and assembling them randomly, like would happen in an old town, just looks extremly well done. Good stuff! Edited November 22, 201311 yr by kabel
November 22, 201311 yr The roof is great. Are those large black tiles you used actually dusty and dirty? I'm not complaining - I think it looks great (And besides, a large portion of my plates would look like that). I just can't tell if it's actual dust or the camera angle... Anyway, great detail and "translation" of the prose to the brick.
November 23, 201311 yr Definitely a category contender! I really like how you brought both angles and elevation to the party in this MOC.
November 25, 201311 yr Really nice to see a town MOC that isn't completely flat! That first photo of the road climbing up between the two black rooved houses with their jetties is particularly good.
November 27, 201311 yr The roofs, and overall busy feeling of the moc make it so realistic! The landscaping is really nice too!
May 25, 20159 yr This looks really great! Too many awesome details to mention them all, but I really like how you managed to get the "cramped alley" feel to it, especially in the first photo. Great job!
