Fuppylodders Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Hi guys, well, there hasn't been a lot from me at all, partly due to lack of imagination at the moment, time, money, work taking priority etc. These actually got completed back in early October to go with my crashed AT-AT diorama. So, I made an AT-ST to be minifig scale as close as possible, and a Hoth turret to go with the display. The hoth turret is my own design, I just cracked on with it, struggled like hell with the main body of it, ignored it for weeks, came up with a solution, asked opinions on the solutions, adjusted and settled for what I was personally happy with. I really like how it has come out! The AT-ST was a pain in the big behind, well and truly. The head was a bit of a struggle, but I feel I got it as close as possible to the Hoth version, although it might be a bit too wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, as well as possibly too short on the legs... The body it sits on I like and am happy with, but the legs were such a hell of a struggle to get to hold the thing up as the head is rather heavy. It is most certainly not playable with, unless you are content on it sitting down at the time! But it does stand on its own (just!) and I was eventually happy with the result. There are a couple of things I didn't quite manage to order in time, and so may be missing or miscoloured, but it is now low priority what with Christmas etc :( So anyways, here are a few pics, enjoy =D C& C welcome =D Hoth turret by Daft Vader1, on Flickr Minifig scale AT-ST by Daft Vader1, on Flickr Minifig scale AT-ST by Daft Vader1, on Flickr Minifig scale AT-ST by Daft Vader1, on Flickr Minifig scale AT-ST by Daft Vader1, on Flickr AT-ST + Hoth turret by Daft Vader1, on Flickr AT-ST fallen over lol + Hoth turret by Daft Vader1, on Flickr Minifig scale AT-AT and AT-ST Hoth display by Daft Vader1, on Flickr Lego Hoth Display by Daft Vader1, on Flickr Quote
Mutant Orc Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Wow! I love the scene and the nice shape of the turret! Quote
Only Sinner Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 The scene just keeps getting better! I like your take on the turret and the AT-ST too. Have you tried making it's feet a little bigger? That would help with stability and look pretty good. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Both the AT-ST and the turret are great. And they are are a nice addition to a great diorama Quote
Chills Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Wow! Great job on the new additions. The angles on the turret are terrific, something the TLG sets all lack. The AT-ST looks great, as well. Nice details on the body and engine section. Just curious, have you thought of making the legs just a bit longer? Quote
Fuppylodders Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Yeah, It is possible, and I will visit doing that at some point, but Christmas being round the corner, money/lego for me is a bit behind on priorities :P Quote
J4ke Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Dude, I just worked out who you are! Saw you and the AT-ST at STEAM, as soon as I saw the barnicle leg joints in the first pic I clocked it was the same one. Very cool stuff! Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) That display is really good! I like the way the AT-AT is down! Edited November 29, 2013 by TheLazyChicken Quote
Fuppylodders Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Hey, you did that by looking at mine and building it without instructions so essentially, its still mine :P Thank you J4ke and chicken! Quote
WaysofSorting Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 The crashed AT-AT is a great scene - I love the cutaway side. I enjoy the turret for the design, but keeping with the minifig scale. It would fit in nicely (though totally outshine) the official LEGO products. The AT-ST - I love the shaping of the head and the amount of detail on all sides of the model. To my eye, the feet look a bit small - but I am certain this was a design decision - what reference were you using? I'm used to only the old Kenner toy. So that's my frame of mind... Great work and thanks for sharing! Quote
kermit Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Cool display. You did a great job on your creation. Quote
gazumpty Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The overall scene is brilliant and the build detail on the AT-AT is really cool. I love the structure you used for the legs. Quote
