Posted November 24, 201311 yr A few months ago I started a MOC for the Hothbricks vignette contest, where the goal was to create a 16x16 (with variable dimensions) vignette of a scene in the Star Wars universe. I planned to make a MOC of the very first scene of TPM (it could actually be the third scene, I don't remember, who watched that movie? ) But I was a few days too late comleting it, so taking pictures took me some more time than usual Here are some of my favorite pics of it: "Master, you were right about one thing: these negotiations were short" - Obi-Wan Kenobi - Some pics without minifigs & all the action I tried to recreate the scene as accurate as possible. everything is there I think, I used reference pics from this site. floor pattern gravity-attached. hinged walls wriction-attached, they sit quite well. For this, I also liked to make a quite symmetrical and not all that awful back those technic liftarms are to keep the bricks between the arches together, they are quite stressed The neck brackets are there to hide the half-stud gabs Droideka: First I wanted to make a realistic design for my droideka, but then I realised there are already some pretty good designs online, I decided to make a more simple design, trying to improve TLG's awful design from the battle packs, while using only parts from that set and common parts. I came up with the left one, I think I did a pretty good job. But when I saw Lars' design, I just had to borrow his technique for the head just for this. More & bigger images in my Flickr I hope you like it just as much as I enjoyed building it! C & C welcome! --if you see some mistakes in my English, I will appreciate it if you would drop me a PM! Then I can edit them. -- comments to improve my photography are also appreciated
November 24, 201311 yr Beautiful scene! you added some very nice details to it and your droideka looks very accurate.
November 24, 201311 yr Author Thanks for the comments! Seriously, that lightsaber welding through the wall is awesome :) thumbs up Thanks! I would have used a bar 3L from the CMF series, but I don't own that in trans-neon, so I cut a 4L. I hope the purists won't mind
November 24, 201311 yr Great moc! I especially like the way you had Qui Gon Jinn cut through the wall, the details were just great. Thanks for the comments! Thanks! November 25, 201311 yr Really nicely done! I really like how you recreated the cut of the lightsaber, and the corridor looks really good
November 25, 201311 yr Wow, the small details on the door and on the walls are super, also the sabercut is very clever. I just rewatched Phamtom Menace yesterday, so it's awesome to see a MOC from that
November 25, 201311 yr Excellent recreation of that scene from Ep.1 'TWP', I especially like the lightsaber cutting effect......Brick On 'TWP' !
December 10, 201311 yr I have to concur with all of the above...the cutting effect has been done brilliantly and the detail of the corridor is excellent. If only you could now design the bubble shield around the droideka....
October 3, 20168 yr That droideka is #### right perfect! Even down to the scale!! EDIT: though I've got a funny feeling it's still gonna take me half an hour to build it merely on LDD LMAO EDIT: also could you post a picture of it in rolling mode?
October 3, 20168 yr Looks really accurate and I agree with the rest of the posters about the molten cuts in the door. Lovely!
October 5, 20168 yr Author Wasn't expecting this old MOC of mine getting back on top of the list again haha. I like it though On 3-10-2016 at 9:17 AM, Tracytron said: That droideka is damn right perfect! Even down to the scale!! Thanks :) And this was disassembled years ago, but reverse engineering it shouldn't be too hard, if you need help shoot me a PM. If I recall correctly it's rolling mode isn't all too smooth-looking On 3-10-2016 at 10:03 AM, Azrielsc said: Looks really accurate and I agree with the rest of the posters about the molten cuts in the door.
