MKJoshA Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I'm sorry if it's seemed like the feedback on subthreads for SoNE have been ignored. As much as the issue has been debated here it has been debated among the leaders. I will bring it up again with the team as you all have made some more good, valid points. Quote
LucasLaughing Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 <snip> However, if we added links to our SoNE builds to the player index page, that would allow an easy index for other builders to go through and comment on the builds or follow the character developments. An easy way to do this would be to allow each player to comment on the thread once and continually go back and edit his/her comment making it an index/profile of their character and builds. I really like the idea of having a place to put up character bios with links to the different builds we've made ... especially for those of use who have been here since the start and amassed rather lengthy back stories. I do agree with others, though, that a sub-forum for freebuilds would be ideal - they disappear off the main Star Wars page way too fast and it makes it hard to keep track of what everyone's put up. I second both of the above. We could have a sub-forum in Watto's Junkyard (called, say, Chalmun's Cantina or Dex's Diner) that holds all freebuilds and a thread (or set of threads) for character bios. Quote
goatman461 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Or you could just click "find content" on a builder's profile and see all of the topics created, which tends to be their freebuilds and episode entries. If we don't advertise SoNE (in the main forum) we won't recruit new players to keep it going. Quote
Jannik Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Freebuilds would be easier to find in the main forum if there was a specific tag that everyone used Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Having a separate subforum like GoH is the best way to go in my opinion. It should be at the same level as Watto's junkyard and episode builds as well as freebuilds would go in there (so there's activity in it all the time). A separate forum full of MOCs only, is a far better advertisement for SoNE than having freebuilds in the main SW section where they are overwhelmed by stupid chit chat of what LEGO will do for episode 8 and 9, which OOB version is better and what not. In fact I think that every forum should have a MOC section separated from other conversations like pirates have. But this is a matter for separate discussion out of SoNE ... @Jannik: I think that tags filter only works for less than one year old builds ... Quote
Artizan Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I have a criticism about Sone, that being, so far all episodes were based on ground fighting or doing stuff on ground, there is really not much difference between what pilots do and troopers do. I want to fight on space, in my TIE fighter, I don't want to land on some planet and fight on foot, that's not the reason I joined as a pilot. Quote
Tariq j Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 ^^ I do agree with this. And to expand I think it would be good if we had more diverse roles within the episode. Taking my faction as an example it could be something along the lines of: Stormtrooper: Your objective is to infiltrate the rebel base and try to locate the secret plans. Tie Pilot: Your objective is to stop any rebel ships from escaping the base. Imperial Survey Corps: Your objective is to search wreckage and hunt down survivors etc.... Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Well I think that this is about your imagination. Maybe this last episode is a bit specific, but take BEAVeR for instance, he was piloting a TIE in episode IV and V if I'm not mistaken. The objectives udually are enough flexible that they could be fulfilled in multiple ways. But I too (as already said) wouldn't mind having more diverse and specific goals for different roles as well as ranks ... Quote

Just don't let's push out people like me, who haven't got very many parts to work with! If I have to perform up to the standard of, say, Goatman461 or NinjaNin, I'm going to be driven out of the game because I just don't have enough pieces. So, go ahead and find more complex objective structures if you want, but be careful not to squeeze out new and/or part-sparse players. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 I feel honored to be able to post in the new subforum ;) Thoguh I did find something odd happening by moving the topics. Somehow the tags of the topics in this subforum stopped working. They do show up, though by clicking on them only topics from other forums are shown or the ones posted after the migration. Any info on this matter? I usually check my previous entries for structure and to avoid any oddities story-wise. Quote

I would recommend trying a different browser to see if the problem is that. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Hmmm ... this is strange. I tried IE and FF both give me same results. If I clikc my mop tag I only get my last SoNE entry and 5 other topics from out of this subforum ... I understand I don't get my last TOR entries since they are 3 years old, but no previous episodes entries show up either. Now you've ruined my profile then?! Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Got 20 topics with "mop", including your past SoNE entries... Don't know what isn't working on your side Quote
MKJoshA Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Same here, checked "mop" and your past entries all showed up correctly for me. Quote
Kodan Black Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 When I click his mop tag I get 5 results: 1 in Nar Eurbrikka (latest build) 1 in Lego Sci-Fi 1 in GoH 1 in Buy/Sell 1 in Pirates Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) Aha, so it's you pesky mods who have something special enabled not for us mortals ;) Ok, it started working today ... Edited May 5, 2015 by MstrOfPppts Quote
MKJoshA Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Can someone who is not a mod check it again please? Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted May 5, 2015 Author Posted May 5, 2015 As I've edited the post above, it started working for me. Thanks. Quote
Artizan Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 (edited) I can't find my older builds for Sone. edit: "Echo Base, this is Rogue two, I found them, repeat, I found them." Edited May 6, 2015 by Artizan Quote
goatman461 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 While we've got some attention on the forum, can we have an open discussion about where SoNE is going post-RotJ/TFA? As our timeline has played out, I'm sure we can still get a few OT(RotJ) episodes in before the Empire falls, but that second Death Star explosion is quickly approaching. I imagine it'll take some time for everybody to build up their TFA armies, but the break up of the Empire should create some interesting factions and dynamics for this thread. For example, we've got 4 100+ players on each team (or we will after this episode is scored), what if each 100+ player gets to create their own faction and try to recruit <100 builders? That would definitely create a great incentive to both new and older builders. As builders get to 100+, they could create their own faction or attempt to dethrone their faction's leader by outscoring them in an episode. New factions could mean new color schemes, aesthetics, characters, ships, etc. Whatever we do or whatever is planned, I think a very important aspect is transparency from the organizers. I'm worried that secrecy between episodes is hurting character development and the ability to create better MOCs and I don't see the point of keeping everybody in the dark. Quote
Nom Carver Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I love your idea, I will inform the guys, regarding to secrecy, it's not like there is a lot going on, we just score the builds and pitch ideas for future episodes and ways to incorporate your contributions, but all this takes quite a bit of time since some of us have been quite busy lately. Quote
MKJoshA Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Yes, I don't think it's a matter of secrecy so much as we ourselves don't always have things planned out as far as maybe everyone things we do! Quote
