Bloke Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Lo As i got the set today (ARC 170) I thought i would share my feelings about it. I was popping to Argos just to get the new TIE, and just chanced my luck with the ARC and they had one in stock...(Argos, Burton on Trent) Quote
Vader Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 I would have to agree with all the points that Bloke has made, the green tile at the front is a poor attempt by lego to match colours IMO. I do feel that this is one set that plenty of people are going to customize, in particular the smaller wings and the gun at the back. The gun to me needs to be beefed up, which im sure most people will do. The turning device that makes the wings fold out is good but it takes alot of turning to get the wings out and the wings could do with being more secure but thats easy to fix. The minifigs are lovely and in particular the print on the helmets are all very well done when compaired to most stormtroopers, the torso design is very close to that of the RGS pilots from ep 2 so no doubt many of us will use them on that set as well. :) Overall this set is beautiful i was not a great fan of the set when i first saw the preview pics but now all i can say is that i love it and IMO it proves that lego are back to there best. ApophisV Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Wow, thats so cool... My opinion about SW '05 so far: One half of the models is superb (ARC170, turbo tank, catamaran, walker,...) and the other half is just ugly (the speederbike from the turbo tank, the wookie attack things and so on) The Minifigs are mostly done very well, I especially love the new pilots!!! They are looking more evil than both the storm- and clone-troopers and even much cooler!!! :D Some complaints though: Mace is looking like.... hm.... This face could be every other guy except... Mace.... :| And the sand green scout trooper is looking ugly..... My 2 cent.... ;) (Sorry if I repeated things, but was too lazy to read the whole thread..... :D :$ ) Quote
Vader Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Lol Apophis no worries you didnt repeat anything, i have to agree the mace figs face is very poor. Did anyone else notice that the speeder bike rider from the turbo tank sets looks to have print on the top half of his legs?? Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Thanks for the pics. this is awesome! Ya, i saw that there is print on the top legs of the speeder bike rider. Thats pretty cool i guess. I cant wait to get these sets!! :oD :-D :D Quote
Vader Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Ok people if your Argos store tells you that there out of stock try again the next day as all Argos stores have different delivery days, asking what days the deliverys come in on are also a good idea. Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Ive got a question, how many pieces does it have? Quote
Wolf04 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Kinda useless question but I tried finding the answer with no luck. I mean we got prices, pics, info on the sets except I could not find any piece count for any of the sets. PS: How'd you get the title of "Annoying Member"? LMAO!!!!!!!! :-D Quote
Vader Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 No piece count on the box you say, hmmmmmm thats strange i cant say that i noticed i will have a look later. To get that title he must of said something wrong :-D ;) Quote
HJR-Holland Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Those sets are soooooooooooo cool !!!!! Quote
sam89 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I finally got mine today, I'll be building it later. All the new sets are looking great. All the figures are excellent (especially the ARC pilots, the Wookiee in the Catamaran set and Grievous from what I can tell. I'll probably end up getting all of these sets except for the Ultimate Lightsaber Duel and maybe the Wookiee Attack. Quote
Vader Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Its an enjoyable build sam and its bigger than the Xwing which i didnt think it would be what with the Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Thankyou very much for the code, Vader. Ordered and en route to my home! Quote
Vader Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 No problem, i just want to see true fans get the sets and not ebayers who are after a quick buck. >:( Ill post any info i get on what Argos shops have them :) Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Ebay is a good way of making money from this. But the new clones will be more expensive than the old clones, due to thier many different varieties. I want 'em all! Quote
Wolf04 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 From what I can tell, I think this set has 280 - 320 pieces. Would those who have it agree? Anyone count the pieces? :-D Quote
sam89 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Well I've finished building it and I think it's really good. I love the minifigs and way the cockpits open. There's a few things I don't like though. The wing mechanism does't work as well as the X-Wing's, and you can't display it with the wings open unless you put something else underneath it (I used a piece of wood). Quote
Jipay Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 The tradition wants you to put a glass underneath :-D Quote
jonfett Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I felt kinda left out since Sam and Vader both have it, so I decided to order it online (as there were no sets in my local Argos). Hopefully it will arrive by Monday. . . hopefully! ;) I want it now though! |-/ Jon. Quote
sam89 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 It could arrive on Saturday, since it says it usually arrives in two days. But if not, it will definitely come on Monday. Quote

Yours didn't come with the "glass" stand like Vader's? I would take it back. :P ;) Quote
jindroush Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 From what I can tell, I think this set has 280 - 320 pieces. Would those who have it agree? Anyone count the pieces? :-D Should be more, I'd expect cca 400. Quote
Wolf04 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I don't think so. The set costs 40 bux american, from LEGO's standards it should have at least 400 but with the specialized pieces, I really doubt it reaches the 4-0-0 piece count. Quote
stan Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Got the set today. It has 413 pieces, including several spare small parts. Which is pretty good considering the 4 minifigs and unique parts. Its a great set, well impressed. Quote
