The Middleman Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 I would've actually welcomed a new Luke - we don't have a flesh one yet. Quote
languages Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Ive already seen this set. Its really cool. One of the benifits of the Inside Tour..... :-D ;) Quote
Wolf04 Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Oh, I think I need a new pair of pants...I just wet my pants because of excitement. Looks good, much better than I thought. Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Ive already seen this set. Its really cool. One of the benifits of the Inside Tour..... :-D ;) We are narrowing down the details of the Insider Tour, Languages! You better spill the beans soon! :-D Quote
KimT Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Finally we get Uncle Lars Owen... about time. Perhaps there will be a set with Aunt Beru as well. The my collection would be perfect (give or take a few of the SW characters). I can't wait to get my hands on those jawas. Perhaps I should get 2 sets at once... I think the Sandcrawler is great. One of the better SW sets to come out of the LEGO factory in a while. MUST HAVE...BRICKS SHINY....MUST HAVE KimT "Onwards Men" "Victory Is At Hand" -Famous Last Words Quote
ImperialJohn Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 For me. A BIG disapointment. *sick* What ever happend to the prototype plate one :( The one that looked like the AT-AT First the colors. With plates they could have made shadow effect . Now it is White/tan/black bricks :| And the rest. Well..... It might hit my shelf at one point - but way out in the future on 90% clearence. Quote
jonfett Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 I actually really like this set. It has everything that I was expecting and I don't think Lego did a bad job at all. The colour scheme isn't too bad, but the stickers are (although expected) disappointing. The figures looks great, Uncle Owen is a nice change from Luke (but now people are complaining that we don't have a Luke :| ) The 3 Jawas look quite neat and the selction of driods is good, is it just me or does the red one with the tan plate on its head look like a light up?? Anyway, I probably won't buy this straight away but I hope to get it eventually. Jon. Quote
sam89 Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 For me. A BIG disapointment. *sick* What ever happend to the prototype plate one :( The one that looked like the AT-AT There never was a prototype model with plates. Perhaps you are thinking of this MOC, because the prototype one was brick built, like the final version. Quote
ApophisV Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 This page from a Lego magazin shows an early version of the crawler, as far as I remember the scan is at least three years old. If you compare both there hasn't been changed too much, mostly only colors... Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Personally I'm glad they went with the brick style instead of the plate style. To me plate always seems so much more fragile. I love the number of figs, and the variety of the droids (though that gonk droid is getting at me...) I also dislike the different colored bricks, but I might be able to replace them all myself if I can get ahold of a few more brown. I love the playability of it, it reminds me a bit of lego sets of old. I too am sad about the decal thing, but then again printed wouldn't have been much better for me. I'd rather they make it the right size and have a proper control room ;) All in all I'm very pleased with this, and can't wait to add it to my collection (the THREE jawas was a nice plus, they'll really be a fortune for anyone looking for more on bricklink unfortunately) Quote
Darth Drew Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 I think this is one of the best looking sets, next to the AT-AT of course. Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 I never liked the head on the AT-AT though, that was my only complaint. Quote
Darth Drew Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 I never liked the head on the AT-AT though, that was my only complaint. Well, nothing is perfect. Quote
Gamma Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Crackers--! :oD :oD :oD :oo IMO, this is one of the greatest LEGO sets ever. G Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 4, 2005 Governor Posted June 4, 2005 First the colors. With plates they could have made shadow effect . Now it is White/tan/black bricks :| And the rest. Well..... What did you think of the dappling effect with different shades of bricks? I'm sure I've mentioned enough times I don't like it. Quote
ApophisV Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 The IDEA to make the hull shaded in different tones is just good! But taking colors that are so much different from another (White/Tan (I think the bright parts are tan), Brown, Black, Earth Orange) was a bad idea. The shades at Pepa's custom look very fine, since he is using the three colors old brown, new brown and Earth Orange. Those make a great rusty look. But the black and bright highlights of the official model... out of place.... :| Quote
yoda601 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Well to me it looks like an old fashioned classical LEGO model. That's a good thing. Quote
Cyclonis Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 What parts are stickers? How come there isn't any bigger pics, and It looks like the red astromech has a chrome gold head (though they aren't making them anymore) or a white head or a dodgey light-up head. Are any of these true? Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 I really doubt that the red astromech droid has any light up feature crap - they would have put it on the box with a "try me" insert !!!! Its weird that the light on the box pic reflects like that on that droid though... Need more pics ;) Quote

But the black and bright highlights of the official model... out of place.... :| i agree. i prefer the plates instead of bricks, but bricks are easier if you want to build a set with a very high playablity; Cyclonis, the cockpit windows is a sticker. i'm a bit puzzled by the threads of this thing. Sam said before that the crawler would only have 4 threads, not the 8 we see in the film. how can this thing move on only 4 rather small threads? in fact, the front picture suggests there are 8 threads... Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Sne, The Crawler has 8 treads !!!!!!!!! (like we thought originally). However, each tread is not independant !!!!!! its a big block of 2 treads put together which gives the effect of only 4 treads totall. I agree with you guys concerning the color of the crawler: it should need a little color change at least to get rid of the grey on the side... We'll have a better view once TLC puts clearer pics on SAH ;) Quote

Need more pics ;) yoda, this red droid is just the cilinder of the red droid+ tan round plate+round dome... i believe it resembles the red droid in the film, which is, if remember this correctly, a bit larger than r2d2, with a full white "head". tlc had to do something to not to give the impression that this was an R4, basically a red version of r2 the reflection or whatever it is is problaby part of the front picture's drawing. that doesn't mean there's some sort of a special trick here... it refers to the red droid falling apart ... Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Sne, if I remelmber correctly, the R4 unit doesn't have a "dome" like head. At least the one in ANH has a conic head: weird that tlc did not provide us with this one !!!! (oh well, thats just details !!!). Also, does anyone remember that weird green droid in the movie ?????????? Quote
Cyclonis Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 weird green droid....not really. 21B, maybe? but he was kinda blueish. As for the droid, for the whole head instead of usind a plain white peice (oh dear!) they could have gaven him a 2x2 cylinder peice with a design on it, and then a 2x2 flat round white tile to smoothen out the top. If you understood that? :X: Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 I see what you mean Cyclonis, that would have been better i'm sure - oh well it will be amelioration time !!!!!!!!! Quote
