Could these be the remainder of entries that have not yet won? If so I feel a bit disheartened to have not been entered, checking the calendar eagerly everyday to hopefully see my name was fun but now knowing I would have never won is a bit of a dagger. It has nothing to do with the certain missing pages thing either cause people right beside my post have been lucky enough to win. Anyway I can share people's frustrations here (the excitement of thinking your able to win all the way up to now torn away) so would just be good to know in future who actually is entered and who is not. Despite all this I love hanging around Eurobricks to keep up to date with everything and enjoy scrolling through all the entries to all the various contests and raffles held here so thank you. But as the Elf who wrote the magical calendar (which is pre-programmed with names) I would like to point out this line in the FAQ. There are a lot of prizes... and thus it's possible that a mistake might be made. Please don't throw M&g# Bl@ks at us if we can't send exactly what we want. This is a give-away afterall. Mistakes happen. We do our best, and we generally arrange these things last minute. I spent many hours setting up the calendar in the weekends leading up to Christmas, and I know that the Elf - Master was busy also. I am disappointed that a few members have seen this as something to get all huffy about. It's a giveaway. We don't ask for big entries, it's all meant to be a bit of fun.... Quote

I'm not even on the bonus ;( And there are 48 people there...but according to the count only twenty one people will not win. This would leave 27 people left to win a bonus, yet there are 48 but not me ;P Quote

If it doesn't, no problem. I certainly wouldn't want the organisers to go to any further personal expense on my account. I love EB but am much more a lurker so to even be able to enter was great. Personally, I had enough fun watching my kids put together the submission and they had a blast as well. Thanks again to Cop Mike and everyone else involved. Quote
CopMike Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Damned if you do, damned if you don't Due to an attack from a foreign intelligence service/hacker group, sunstorm or just a close companionship between my brain cells and mr Murphy a whole lot of entries wasn´t put into the name pool from were the winners randomly would be drawn. Thanks to a nice pm sent to me by Dane this was brought to my attention and an Emergency Protocoll was initialized and completed. The result of that is what you see today on the 23rd. Here´s an explanation on how it was set up: As I first thought the number of entries was 165 and we had 144 set of prizes, giving the odds 144/165 or about 87,2%. Now when there was a whole bunch of posts overlooked, actually from page 7-9, or post #165-#226, and that the raffle had progressed so far the options were a bit limited. So I pulled all those entries and applied the random machine and the 87,2% magic. I came up with the number 42 about 7,5 when having 6 prize catagories. That means that to match the odds and handling as if they would have been in the raffle from the beginning, we needed to have 7,5 extra winners per prize. 7,5 isn´t really a good number if you´re using a multiplication factor of 6. So either we go down to 7 or up to 8. If we use 7 the odds to win would become lower compared to the ones that were in the pool from the start. Not a good idea! If we use 8 the odds to win would become higher compared to the ones that were in the pool from the start. A much better solution. Those on page 8-9 have been mentally tortured during a couple of days when they knew they wouldn´t win. This is a small collective band-aid for that, plus they don´t have an option to win the extra Hulk or Cave Troll day 24. So those then 48 "extra" winners today are still a percentage of the total lost post, pulled by using a random generator. And if I and mr Murphy hadn´t done this, 48 of you wouldn´t have won at all, as the total chance to win was upped with around 20% by this mental breakdown. I hope that covers about everything. And yes, tomorrow there will be the last 6 winners, coming out of the original 165 counted entries. And yes yes - now I have to send out 192 set of prizes across the globe! And remember - if you didn´t win this year there could be a new Xmas coming in the future AND this saying still applies: Lucky in love, unlucky in games So have a wonderful love life 2014! Quote

If I understood the whole thing (and I'm not sure I did): - You, me and some other users were among those who could have won in each of these days - Those "bonus picks", due to a series of unlucky circumnstances, weren't counted as eligible for prizes.
