I have still not had the luck to win, but have discovered something that puzzles me....

I came to look at the page 9 of the EB Xmas Raffle 2013 http://www.eurobrick...ic=88420&st=200

where my post is the first and was very surprised to find out that not a single of the 25 users on that page had won here by day 20. That seems almost like a statistical impossibility that no one from that page has been drawn as winners now also considering that there only is 12 pages of participants.

So my question to the people doing this years draw; has something gone wrong and has the page 9 participants not been added to the draw this year?

(I have also mailed this question directly to CopMike)

I wonder if this has something to do with those extra entries I counted earlier?

Yes some of it, have just made the count myself and see a total of 218 entries so it should be 144 winners out of 218. A bit strange that CopMike wrote a lower number and also very statistical strange that out of 120 winners by now not a single of the 24 entries on page 9 has won and same goes for the 24 entries on page 8. From all the other pages with entries 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,10,11 and 12 there are many winners on every page even though several of these pages has a lower number of entries per page than page 8 and 9 :sceptic:

Hey, you're right! What's with that? (And of course, my entry is on page 8. :hmpf_bad:)

I demand an explanation! :look:

No winners from page 8 and 9 again today 21st. and still no answers from the raffle master...

I have to say that the difference between the entry number CopMike wrote at the deadline, and the real number of entries I counted earlier is just about the number of entries found on page 8 and 9 where strangely no one has won any prize.

I believe that for some reason the entries on page 8 and 9 have been accidentally overlooked and never been part of this years raffle, because statistically it is virtual impossible to miss about 50 entries on two page following each other in a random raffle with so many winners.

Dane, I can understand your frustration. However, I think you need to PM CopMike and Rick and wait for their response there. A lot of work went into this and I read that CopMike is very busy with other things right now. Even if they were able to verify that the entries on pages 8 and 9 are valid and add them into the data set now, those peoples odds of winning will be gravely damaged. Despite that though, I hope this does not derail the Christmas raffle for next year. Because if it does, then everyone will have a zero percent chance at winning then.

If you include in your PM the user names that you think were valid but missed from those pages, it might expedite matters once they have a chance to review it.

I'm also on page 9 but it doesn't bother me one bit. It's a giveaway so calm down and just be happy for those that have won.

I don't think he owes you an answer at all. Your entry somewhat randomly ended up on a certain page and even if the entries on pages 8 and 9 were accidentally not entered into the raffle, that's just bad luck and part of entering a raffle. I know the winners were all picked in advance, so Maybe CopMike picked the winners by randomly selecting a certain number of pages and spread out the winning entries on those pages (randomly again) over 24 days of winners. Who knows? I honestly don't. What I do know is that everyone who enters should be grateful that CopMike organises this huge raffle, for which they have to do next to nothing to enter, almost every year to celebrate the December Holidays. The whining and complaining every day is sucking the fun right out of it.

By the way: CopMike organises this all on his own (with a little technical assistance from Sinner) and I have nothing to do with the organisation (I was even allowed to enter :sweet: ). All I did in this thread was enable the PM system for some members, so they could PM their details to CopMike.

First of all I have always giving high praise to CopMike here on the forum for the great work he does, and every one is allowed to make mistakes.

I did send a calm and friendly PM to CopMike asking about this, but to be fair it is probably buried in his mailbox between all the winner mails, which is why I wrote about it here on the public forum.

I do not consider it whining and complaining every day, just because I put focus on that all the happy entries on page 8 and 9 probably had 0% winner chance this year.

I think you can agree that when you enter a raffle all expects a equal chance no matter how grateful we all are for this raffle :classic:

And yes perhaps "CopMike picked the winners by randomly selecting a certain number of pages and spread out the winning entries on those pages (randomly again)" but giving the fact that at deadline he wrote a total of 165 entries instead of the 215-220 I counted a difference that would fit the page 8 + 9 entries and the fact that even without these pages there are still some that does not win on the other pages also, I still believe more that is was a honest mistake where page 8 + 9 was lost. And I agree that is also a kind of random, so I never expected my writings to change anything this year.

Finally a big congratulations to the all the winners and a merry Christmas to the winners, the losers and CopMike

I'll recheck... I think there's a gap for you on day 27.

Oh I see, you meant that literally! :hmpf_bad:

Just kidding, though I am disappointed, I understand that CopMike is only human, and that we all make mistakes.

So no hard feelings, and happy holidays! :classic:

After so many days without winning, I was starting to hope I would win on the 24th and get the big prize... Oh well, it's still great to win something, and even if it's not my personal choice, my sons will flip over these, thanks CopMike and Sinner! Merry Christmas, and Buyakasha! (Or, in the words of my generation, Cowabunga!)

I'm on one of the 'lost pages' as well, but I don't understand the saltiness over this. It's still random that it's those pages that got forgotten to get taken into account. It's a raffle. There's a chance that you win, and a chance that you don't. It's totally free. Even though I won't be winning, thanks for organizing, Copmike and anyone else that was involved, raffles are cool.

Thanks again to CopMike and Eurobricks!

Oh, and for other new members who joined only this year (like I did last year), just in case you don't receive your prizes quickly, worry not, for they will still come nonetheless.

I received my previous prize March of this year, so it might take that long (or longer even) for some of you guys. Still, just remember: "The best figs in life are free!"

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE!

Are we able to swap our prizes if both sides agree? If yes, anyone want to swap their prize for my prize C (Ironman figures)?

I'd be happy to switch for my ninja turtles, however, I believe because of all the hard work this is for copmike, he's not going to facilitate prize switches.
