The heroes leave the cart and horses behind, beginning the several-hour trek across the mountain range.The further they move in, the more and more the bowl between the two ranges begins to look like a desert. It's clear to see why the orcs would avoid the mountains entirely. It doesn't take long before they're on rocky, winding paths around the outer edges of the mountains, the increasing height making it harder to breathe, the air biting and cold. Within an hour, it starts to snow lightly - in another, it turns to a near-blizzard, the icy white sheets coming down hard as the party struggles to inch along the almost indiscernible path. Their guide pauses as the storm reaches its height, pulling a piece of recently-splintered wood from the snow and looking up at the stout beams that have been built into the cliff above them. "Damn it!" Olmstyr's voice is barely audible above the screaming winds. "These were put up decades ago, back when we used these routes - prevents rockfalls from destroying the path! That they're falling now is not a good sign for the rest of his trek!" There's a booming, foreboding cracking sound not far above the heroes. A few pebbles slide down from above, pelting the snow at their feet or dropping what could be a mile to the ground below. What will the party do? Thormanil takes off after Guts, trying to keep his eyes on the path. Alexandre dequips his Dapper Hat and puts on his Winged Sandals. He starts to hover, as not to risk tripping if he was running. He follows Guts and Olmstyr. Everyone, behind me! I try to track a safe and quick route through the pass. Dyric takes the lead, avoiding unstable-looking portions of the path as the party moves quickly along the face of the mountain. Guts' constant dancing and Alexandre's winged sandals keep them light on their feet, and between the entire party's careful speed, they're well-ahead of the broken support beam when, with an ominous rumble, a shower of rocks and small boulders tumbles downward, smashing the path behind them to pieces and sending a cascade of stone, snow, and dust down through thick, frosted air to the ground below. A fatally close call averted, the party moves onward, the blizzard dying down slightly. "How much farther?!" He shouts over the wind. "Can't be much further! Tallest mountains are on the north end of the range, so we must be almost there!" As Olmstyr says, it's only another hour or so more before the path winds downward. The storm recedes, though the snowfall remains thick and the path icy and slippery. Soon, the party can see the ground once again - and in the distance, it's covered in small, dark shapes. The barren dirt of Baltarok never looked more welcoming. Their guide sighs in relief, shaking the frost from his hair. "Vohl tan il aito, aio ai al, here I thought a few weeks at sea would be the most I've ever envied being on firm ground....well, we're not far from Aj-Kahr's warcamp now. See that field of tents over there? That must be them. Assuming the storm keeps the damn meldno cooped up in their roosts rather than trying to make a meal of us, we'll be there soon." Olmstyr continues down the last stretch of mountain path, but glances at the warcamp from time to time over the next few minutes. He speaks up again not longer after. "If I may ask, what exactly are you all planning to do if Marga won't give us the support we need? You were at the Clanmeet, you know what she's like. Perhaps this is a way...and in the few messengers the Kingdoms bothered to send, all they've fed us is vague ideas of increased trade trade and relations our nations." "Or just a fight to the death. Can't go wrong with one of those." "I'd like to avoid us killing the clan leader, if it's possible. It won't gain us any favors with the other clans." The party finally steps off the mountain and onto solid ground. It's not even ten minutes that they reach Aj-Kahr's warcamp. Thick, patchwork tents arranged in haphazard rows mark the frosted ground, at least two dozen warriors milling about outside them, sharpening weapons or eating ravenously in preparation for battle. It doesn't take them long to reach the center of the camp. A small host of guards surrounds Marga and General Gor as they make plans. The latter notices the heroes, standing straight - the guards ready their weapons almost instinctively on his lead. Marga looks up at the party, arms crossed. "Heroes. What do you want?" How will the party respond?

"From what we hear your goal here is to overpower those that are at work at the bridge, and subsequently destroy it. However, you must realize that this can't be the way forward." The raider looks at the general with his last words, leaving doubts as to who he was adressing. "If the Kingdoms' goal is to use this bridge to wage war with the orcs, they will do so, and the destruction of this bridge will not be able to stop them, only delay. Not only that, it will give them cause and reason, and everyone in the world will hear the story about how the orcs and goblins attacked innocent builders building a bridge to bring civilization and wealth to the orcs." The raider shrugged, to notify that was not how he thought about things. "If it's war that you want with the Kingdoms' attacking this bridge will assure it. But think long and hard. If the Kingdoms wanted war, don't you think they have the power to wipe you out? In the most important room of the orcish leadership were two humans before we even came in. Don't you think that the Kingdoms know exactly how many troops you have? What your armies consist of? What will happen, I wonder, when the Kingdoms' armored knights come over a temporary bridge somewhere? When the Kingdoms' cannons shell your harbours? Your people are strong, proud, hard... But unequipped, dare I say unorganized. But I've heard there's someone been helping with that. Hasn't there? Jaret the rat-eyed human, of the Crimson Crown." The raider scoffed. "I'm not as foolish to say you should believe the humans when they say the bridge is for the orcs' benefit, build a keep on the other side, station a small army, tax the humans if they want to enter your land and no one could say differently, but this... this is a bad idea. If a show of our force is not enough to keep them at bay, if destroying the namesake of their 'last great king' and obliterating any chance of relations between our races cannot dissuade them, then war is inevitable, and we would have taken their best advantage." She stepped towards Alexandre threateningly, face contorted in rage. "'Violent, radical barbarians'....history has labelled us such for THOUSANDS of years, sarkuun! ONE MORE WAR WON'T CHANGE THAT!" "Clan Musalnav directly disagrees with you, clanleader Marga, and we are it's direct representatives with full support from their clanleader. Even you must agree that your people must stand together, if there is to be a war, you can't face it divided. If there is no other way, I would like to solve this matter through honorable duel, under the eyes of Tarok. The winner is right, and..." Guts looks at Olmstyr. "The loser joins forces. If you, or your champion wins, clan Musalnav will assist you with your efforts, if me or my champion wins, you will pull your force back and settle with the decision that is ultimately made." Clanleader, I have worked with the Kingdoms before, and you can believe me when I day - your kind are not in their interest. They're far busy squabbling among themselves to focus on you. As we've all admitted, if they did they'd have already wiped you out. Besides, if it is war you want, keeping the bridge will only work in your favour. You say it is the only way in and out. If that's true, and the Kingdoms do attempt invasion, you can use that to box them in. They'd be trapped. Why give up an advantage like that?
