UsernameMDM Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) "Hewyrt, you're with me. Where is Gocklo?" See previous battle with Hewyrt's help. Surely that bit of roleplay & dialogue merit the presence of Hewyrt with Hoke's party. Edited April 14, 2014 by UsernameMDM
Vash the Stampede Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Dreyrugr equips all of his equipment that he had on before they were knocked off him by the hulk and takes a smelling salt, mead, nostrum, soma and mulled wine. For note the equipment I had was the Black Knights armor, cloak of the blue assassin and gloves of the undead assassin. Dreyrugr turns to Mirona, "If you promise to give this back I'll lend you my greatsword seeing how it's a tad sharper than what you currently have." Dreyrugr then turns to the large group of Heroica, "If anyone has some spare weapons for the weaker heroes and our circus troupe it would probably be appreciated if you could lend them a sharper blade." Dreyrugr then takes the time to put three venoms on his weapon whilst moving to the east border. I'm assuming rogue throwing weapons work the same way as the other ranged weapons. What are the retrieving rules on them? Will we know how many reinforcements each side has? And does Hoke's flagpole give SP to the whole party or just the section he is in?
UsernameMDM Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) Flagpole description says party, so I would guess everyone. How should we divide forces? Quest 88 w/Cinna & 89 w/Vash? Split the others? Edited April 14, 2014 by UsernameMDM
swils Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Just to be sure, the Central Tower is considered "controlled" if its section is occupied by forces of that faction, so the orcs would control it if the setup is [Orcs][Orcs][Orcs][Orcs(Tower)][Heroes][Kingdoms][Kingdoms], and then if the heroes get overrun, the two armies meet in the section that the heroes previously occupied? Also, in that example, if the heroes got overrrun in the following turn, if I understand it correctly, the Orcs would control the tower and so the bridge wouldn't collapse, right?
Purpearljellyblob Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Purpearl turns to Nelvyn, "Nelvyn, please take your Smelling Salt and move to East Border. And take care." Purpearl steps forward, positions herself at the East Front and signals at Dreyrugr, "I will try to heal you with the Healing Staff when the battle starts."
CMP Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I'm assuming rogue throwing weapons work the same way as the other ranged weapons. What are the retrieving rules on them? Will we know how many reinforcements each side has? And does Hoke's flagpole give SP to the whole party or just the section he is in? Yes. You have to be in the section you threw them to in order to retrieve them. You won't know how many reinforcements there are. Hoke's flagpole only affects heroes in his current section, and the same goes for all area of effect attacks, IE, Magic Burst will only affect the section of enemies you're targeting, and Blood Ritual will only heals allies in the same section as the Shaman. Just to be sure, the Central Tower is considered "controlled" if its section is occupied by forces of that faction, so the orcs would control it if the setup is [Orcs][Orcs][Orcs][Orcs(Tower)][Heroes][Kingdoms][Kingdoms], and then if the heroes get overrun, the two armies meet in the section that the heroes previously occupied? Also, in that example, if the heroes got overrrun in the following turn, if I understand it correctly, the Orcs would control the tower and so the bridge wouldn't collapse, right? Yes. A section is only considered occupied if there are enemies in it and no heroes. In that scenario the orcs would be considered victorious because they control the tower when the heroes are overrun. The bridge would not collapse, but only the orcs heroes would be victorious.
swils Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Thormanil grunts. "Easy answer t'all this." He steps next to Guts and whispers to him.
CMP Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (See previous battle with Hewyrt's help. Surely that bit of roleplay & dialogue merit the presence of Hewyrt with Hoke's party. :) ) I'm waiting for Zepher's say so on this, I'm unsure. I don't think Hewaryt's a combatant but Gocklo may be.
Vash the Stampede Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Dreyrugr turns to Matthias, "Take this bow, it's not much sharper than yours but a quick look around shows that no one else seems to have any spares." "For those of you who have slightly less combative equipment might now be the time to swap them out for something more practical and if some of you have artifacts you aren't using maybe it would be good to lend them out." Nothing against Sticky Gloves or Medals of Glory but I think we'll need every advantage we can get offensively. Noteworthy examples of Haldor's 'Ognar's Beard' due to enraged effect on melee fighters not being a problem in this battle, Alexis' smelly hide due to guaranteed humanoids in this battle, also maybe lending her quickdraw quiver to Dyric for a beefed up Assassin along with any other spare things people have lying around.
StickFig Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Matthias looks gratefully at Dreyrugr as he accepts the bow and holds it while putting away his crossbow on his way out of the tower. While the experienced black Knight looked a tad ... scary, he'd been helpful at need more than once on the circus adventure.
Chromeknight Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) Nerwen checks her horse (stats Zeph?) and her Seal of the Warrior Priestess (don't forget to roll. Did praying over it make a difference?) and moves to the west border of the bridge. Seraphael flickered in and out of visibility, the angel's light causing a halo around Nerwen's pale hair. Thus far you have come. But no further. Turn back and live free. Edited April 14, 2014 by Chromeknight
Scubacarrot Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Guts moves towards the East Border. He wondered how long Nerwen and the other fools that had decided to stand against the orcs would last.
CMP Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Olmstyr scratched his head. "I don't think we'll be able to hold off the orcs at this rate. I wouldn't be opposed to them seizing the bridge, obviously, but it'll put us in one hell of a difficult situation once they get behind us."
CMP Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 "Then we go forward." Guts said bitterly. "We're not going to be able to push through either army. The bridge's chokepoint offers us the only chance we have."
Scubacarrot Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 "If the orcs don't notice us slaughtering the High Kingdom's soldiers and attack us, they have more pressing matters to worry about. Like bad eyesight."
CMP Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 "If the orcs don't notice us slaughtering the High Kingdom's soldiers and attack us, they have more pressing matters to worry about. Like bad eyesight." "We were supposed to be securing the watchtower. When the orcs hit the heroes on the west border and Tarvalk sees that's not the case, he'll probably assume we died trying to take it and order his men to simply kill everyone in sight. The grunts don't even know what we look like."
Scorpiox Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Haldor takes a smelling salts and smashes the empty bottle onto the bridge. "I'll take the Eastern flank - who's with me?" "Help yourselves to my artefacts, folks."
Scubacarrot Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Guts, annoyed: "Then when we are done we will cut through the grunts to get back to Tarvalk." The raider swaps out the Sticky Gloves for his Pugilist's Gloves, and gives the Sticky Gloves back to Thormanil.
CMP Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Guts, annoyed: "Then when we are done we will cut through the grunts to get back to Tarvalk." "They're not going to sit back and wait for us to finish with the High Kingdoms. If we don't hold them back on two different fronts, we'll soon be cornered on both sides at once."
StickFig Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) As Benji stands in the tower's door, Mattlhias notices a crossbow hanging from his back, made of smooth wood and inlaid beautifully. A real Hero's weapon, probably. The gnome looks at the unreliable rig hanging over his own shoulder and the meager borrowed bow in his hands and can't help himself. "Benji," he calls, "could I borrow that crossbow?" "If we don't hold them back on two different fronts, we'll soon be cornered on both sides at once." Here's what we have right now... WEST BORDER Nerwen (25 Paladin) WEST FRONT TOWER Cinna (28 Mystic Knight) Baradock (8 Barbarian) Boris (25 Sorcerer) Mirona (10 Barbarian) Hoke (30 Mystic Knight) Tesni (34 Berserker) Benji (38 Beastwarrior) Jess (22 Assassin) Alexis (42 Harlot) Alexandre (25 Black Knight) Dyric (24 Assassin) Olmsytr (29 Warden) EAST FRONT Purpearl (7 Mage) Matthias (6 Ranger) EAST BORDER Haldor (31 Shaman) Guts (30 Raider) Thormanil (35 Dragoon) Dreyrugr (21 Black Knight) Glup (6 Rogue) Nelvyn (15 Assassin) Edited May 13, 2014 by nstickney
Scorpiox Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I think that Haldor can equip four artefacts at his level, correct? "Some of you are gonna have to fight for the kingdoms, so make that decision pretty bloody fast! You, greenhorns" He indicates to the newer heroes. "You're welcome to borrow anything I'm not using, including weapons and artefacts." Haldor pulls on his pugilist's gloves and adopts a battle position at the front of the rank, his dualis sceptres held defensively out in front of him. He wasn't feeling nervous now, only strangely excited. The nord stood there, almost trembling with anticipation as the ordered ranks of the High Kingdoms closed in. Even if he didn't make it out of here alive, this would make a damn good story for the others to tell.
