Waterbrick Down Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I'll say it is. When the sun comes up over the Eastern Wall, there's... Dyric sighs deeply. Hey, look. If you see an Eyric Rone while you're there... tell him I'm alright, okay? Tell him about what we did here. That I need to keep doing this, no matter what. Tell him I may see him again eventually... but for the moment, Heroica needs me. "Sure, I'll tell him some random rogue who never decided to introduce himself, wants him to know he's alright and has got to do what he's got to do." The undead elf smirked and then winked, "Will do Dyric Rone." Boris approached the five heroes who had seen his group of performers safe to the uttermost and handed them each 30 Gold. "I believe I owe each of you this. You've done quite well, more than I could have ever imagined in fact. You're real Carnival Crusaders if you ask me. You're free to make your way back to Eubric however you choose, or if you wish, you can travel with us through our tour of the Low Kingdoms. I do have a feeling though, that that ship in the distance is here for some of your compatriots and it wouldn't surprise me if they'd take you along with them home. Just let me know ahead of time, we'll be shoving off here soon." Edited May 15, 2014 by Waterbrick Down
Purpearljellyblob Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 "I think Boris was wanting to take a trip south, mayhaps head to Duplovia maybe see some of the lower kingdoms." If you all don't mind me tagging along, I'll be happy to travel with the circus and find a transport back to Eubric when the tour's done." WBD, a level of experience for us? Quest Master: Waterbrick DownAssignment: "My carnival troupe, The Mercutio's Smile, will soon be touring in some of the more remote locations of the High Kingdoms and Baltarok. Vash the Stampede Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Boris approached the five heroes who had seen his group of performers safe to the uttermost and handed them each 30 Gold. I'm not in a hurry so I don't mind taking a while. Be nice to see you guys perform as well." Although it would be more accurate to say I'd rather a shorter boat trip.
StickFig Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 "You're free to make your way back to Eubric however you choose, or if you wish, you can travel with us through our tour of the Low Kingdoms." Matthias accepts the gold from Boris and weighs the options in his mind - he's had a fill of adventure that won't soon run low, but he's never been to Duplovia. "Boris," he asks, "are you planning on stopping by Drandora? My family are there and it would be nice to visit. I think I'd like to come along regardless." Having said it, the ranger is suddenly more certain that he would enjoy some further travels before returning to Heroica Hall.
Chromeknight Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Loot update Alexis - Seductive Perfume, Neutralizer Haldor - Heavy armour, Grand Potion Benji - 60g, remedy Baradok - Sword(WP:10,fire-elemental, longsword), smoke bomb Tesni - 60g, remedy Jess - remedy, smoke bomb, neutralizer, remedy Haldor will take the heavy armour and grand potion please, Chromeknight. Of course I should really post this in the quest thread, but I don't have much to add at the moment and a short post would interrupt the flow of the conversation. Baradock'll take the Heavy Armor 60g and Grand Potion, Chromeknight. Sorry Cryos, I did say it was first in, and despite not being in thread, Scorpiox claimed first. And now I'm just going to allocate stuff so it's done and we can move on. A lone horse rides towards the bridge. The rider dismounts, climbs the stairs, and the heroes are able to identify him as King Speros, King of the Four Boulders. He looks at the dead bodies with quiet calm, and then addresses the heroes he recognizes, though his eyes often drift to the Orcs. "Heroes. It looks that you've defended the bridge." He bows very stiffly and very barely. "Congratulations, and thank you. It was the right thing to do. I have helped the Nords to flee from Carn, and have ensured that they will not act in violence towards the High Kingdoms again. Hopefully sparing them was the right thing to do. I believe that the Fire Nords are honorable men and know not to attack us again, after we have spared them. Hopefully our mercy was not misplaced." The King looks at Raguel's charred body. "And hopefully the Red Lizards will seek no further vengeance on the Nords." "Now, heroes, I must ask..." the King sighs. "Did Hamilton manage to stop and retrieve my son? Alive?" Nerwen bows to King Speros. The raider there, Guts Holla, is the one you need to speak to about your son. But I can not offer much hope on that score. He reported he killed all who attacked Imaestym.
UsernameMDM Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Hoke approaches Hewyrt. "Hope we accomplished what you wanted. It's a mess for sure, but it looks like it can be fixed, if that's what these people want."
Zepher Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 "Holla." The King turns to Guts. "My son was bent on attacking the Orcs last I saw him. Tell me, was he headed off, or did he attack? And if he attacked, was he taken alive, or dead?" Heweyrt stamps his foot experimentally a few times. "Looks like it's still here! I'd say that the experience was well worth it, wasn't it?" All the Kingdoms heroes feel that they are a little bit better at combat now. OoC: I'll post final stats tomorrow, and your overkill gold will be included, Benji!

"I think we can manage a show down that direction, hopefully your family are patrons of the arts. In fact I think the experience would be good for all of us." OoC: Same as Zepher, once we're all done I'll post final stats.
Darkdragon Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Cinna takes her share of gold from Boris with a nod. "I for one would enjoy a bit of a trip with the troupe. Perhaps we could stay out of wars this time." she chuckles but the sense that it isn't completely in jest is there.
The Legonater Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Dreyrugr, before you all head off, is there any way I could make a deal for your Hunter's Plate?
Scubacarrot Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 "Holla." The King turns to Guts. "My son was bent on attacking the Orcs last I saw him. Tell me, was he headed off, or did he attack? And if he attacked, was he taken alive, or dead?" "No idea who your son is or was. Your people attacked the Orcs, but all of them that made it into Baltarok are dead. If your son was one of the attackers, he is dead, might be I killed him myself."
Scorpiox Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 "I'd love to have your company here. I need someone like you - orcs aren't half bad at getting results, obviously, but an outside opinion is always a valuable thing to have, especially if we're going to see more contact with the outside. I think we'll make an excellent team here." He grinned, albeit briefly. "I think's it's time I said my farewells. It'll be a change living over here, but I'm sure that we're going to have some stories to tell once it's time to put me under the floorboards. And if you want an outside opinion, you can't get much more outside than raised by barbarians in the godforsaken north." The nord couldn't deny that this was a huge decision to make, walking away from the only real family he'd been welcome in. Haldor turned and looked at his colleagues one by one. "This is it, folks, the last chapter of our drawn-out ramble. There's not really much for me to say, other than I'm not coming back to Eubric with you all - tell the captain she can offer my seat to some urchin or whatever. I've got something here, which is more than I've had at most times of my life. The roaming was good, and at one point you've all been a rock for me in one way or another - but I've got a job now. Take care, keep it up - the usual motivational crap. Maybe one day you'll chance across me again, even if it's in inside some hole somewhere or rattling down in the dungeons. I'm going to keep this short, for reasons, but make it known at the hall that I've pissed off with good intentions. One of you had better make sure Skrall, Lawrence, Atramor and the others I've shared a drink with know where I am. If you see young Arthur, tell him that he's forgiven, although we haven't met since the latest row. Let 'em pretend in my absence that I was some kind of super hero and whack a portrait up - name a bench after me in Triad park if you want to knock yourself out. Tell the greenhorns that uncle Haldor was the best of the best, and that's why he couldn't be arsed to come back." He coughed. "Seriously, though. You've been good to me and I've not always been easy company. I hope the memories aren't to awful to laugh about when you're all pissed later on. That's about it. Have yourselves some nice lives."
Scubacarrot Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 The raider gave Haldor a sceptical look. "... Good luck."
The Legonater Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I am shocked at this news. Slowly, I process the news before finally speaking. ] Haldor. When we first met, all those years ago, you were but a brash young man, not that I was any different. But I am proud to say that over the time you have developed into a warrior, a soldier... a hero. I consider you one of my closest friends, if not a brother, and though this quest has had its trials that has not changed. You say that we have been rocks in your life, and I think I speak for all of us when I say you have been a rock in ours. I would not be the man I am today without you fighting by my side. So thank you, Haldor, and I wish you the best in all future endeavours. Until we meet again. I clasp Haldor's forearm in a final gesture, then take a step back.
Capt.JohnPaul Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 "Fellow heroes, job well done. We argued and disagreed at many points in our quests, but we pulled ourselves together and I think it's obvious we all were destined for one big quest- keeping people safe. Hopefully I will see you guys again. It was an honor standing by your sides."
StickFig Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 "In fact I think the experience would be good for all of us." "Perhaps we could stay out of wars this time." "Just so long as we aren't expected to 'pick up' any 'ambassadors,'" says Matthias, "it sounds good to me." "If your son was one of the attackers, he is dead, might be I killed him myself." Guts' callous pronouncement shocks Matthias as much as Raguel's execution or the pools of blood surrounding the bridge's corpses. He's momentarily astounded at the Raider's lack of empathy, and eventually looks to Purpearl gratefully, remembering that in battle only the 'coward elf mage' had stood up to him, giving strategic direction that didn't involve getting Heroes killed. "I think's it's time I said my farewells...." The young ranger isn't sure what to make of this: a hero he's only just met is leaving Heroica, apparently for good. Is there life after Heroica? Is there another great adventure? Once upon a time he had dreamed only that there must be more than this gnome-barber's life.... Dreyrugr, before you all head off, is there any way I could make a deal for your Hunter's Plate? The assassin's query rings in Matthias' ears as he remembers he's wearing borrowed armor. He pulls off the Hunter's Plate and walks it over to Dreyrugr. "Are you coming with us to the Low Kingdoms?" he asks, holding the armor out. "If you are, I'd like to go on wearing this stuff - it helps a lot! - but if you want it back I understand."
CMP Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) "Seriously, though. You've been good to me and I've not always been easy company. I hope the memories aren't to awful to laugh about when you're all pissed later on. That's about it. Have yourselves some nice lives." "It's no easy thing to walk away from all that you've known to help serve something you do not. I left Baltarok to seek help from half a world away, and you came half a world away to give it. There are none better suited to help us though such a tumultuous time, Mr. Skovgaard." Olmstyr turned to look at the rest of the party as well. "That goes for all of you. It may be your job, but nonetheless you answered the call that few others had the mind to answer. It was an honor to work with all of you. You've given Baltarok hope. That's a debt I can never hope to repay, but I'll spend the rest of my days making sure it was worth it." The ship finally sailed up to the side of the bridge. Lines were tossed up onto the ramparts, a gangplank set between and steadied by them. Captain Illdria walked across it, and dropped down onto the bridge. The Magpie had clearly seen some combat, as had the crew, but none of them seemed too much worse for wear. Olmstyr pulled a pouch of coins from his belt and tossed it to Illdria, who caught it deftly, looking around. "Well, well. Kings and orcs having a chat, bridge still intact, heroes in the middle of it all surrounded by a slew of corpses. Doesn't get any more successful than that, eh?" "We heawf fhewe waf oim' 'o be a baffle-" "And it looks like we weren't wrong. Seemed as though some nords wanted to get in on the action. We figured you could use a hand, and we could use some target practice. Evidently Attina had the same idea. The Bonies sent the right person up to this frozen hellhole, I'll give 'em that much. Anyway. I'm feeling generous and the cargo hold is already full of enough barbarian plunder to keep this trip profitable. If anyone wants a free ticket back to Eubric, well, all aboard." Don't feel like you're being rushed here. Just once you're done saying goodbye to everyone note you're ready to go. Edited May 16, 2014 by CallMePie
UsernameMDM Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Hoke wished the orc and human leaders good luck, and boarded the ship.
Chromeknight Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Nerwen looked at Prince David, watching his reaction to Raguel's death and cremation, and King Speros hearing Guts' blunt delivery of how his son was killed.
StickFig Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 You're free to make your way back to Eubric however you choose, or if you wish, you can travel with us through our tour of the Low Kingdoms. Just making sure I understand the mechanics of what's happening here: we (original Quest 90? or everyone?) can each make a choice to go with the circus troupe for a continuation of the quest, or we can get on the boat and be done, and the choice is individual?
CMP Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Just making sure I understand the mechanics of what's happening here: we (original Quest 90? or everyone?) can each make a choice to go with the circus troupe for a continuation of the quest, or we can get on the boat and be done, and the choice is individual? The Quests are pretty much over. If you go with the troupe it's just a different way to end it. You'll all end up back at the hall when it's over, except for Haldor who's going on hiatus.
StickFig Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 If you go with the troupe it's just a different way to end it. Ok, thanks!
Waterbrick Down Posted May 16, 2014 Author Posted May 16, 2014 OoC: As Pie said, the quest will be ending no matter which you choose, it's more of a character decision than anything else, though there are some things that will be slightly different depending on which decision you make, at least for my questies.
Zepher Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 As the heroes board boats, the surviving members of the Kingdoms watch them go. Their faces are drawn, and they all look tired - especially the Kings. "Thank you, heroes, for freeing me from prison. And for saving the bridge. I think and hope that it will bring change, but only time will tell." David looks at the charred remains of his guardian, mentor, and friend. He then looks at the heroes. "Thank you for my life," he says flatly. "No idea who your son is or was. Your people attacked the Orcs, but all of them that made it into Baltarok are dead. If your son was one of the attackers, he is dead, might be I killed him myself." The King of the Four Boulders looks evenly at Guts, and then looks at the ship that the man from a foreign land will shortly board. "I don't know who you are," says the King sadly, "but you have just delivered to me the news that every man fears. And now you will sail away, and I will never see you again, nor you I." Speros stares vacantly ahead. "I'm sorry my son had to go performing such an atrocious act. I guess I will have to find someone else to take over the Kingdom when I go. Good bye, Holla."
