"There has been some discussion between the kingdoms and the Nords about letting the orc go in order to secure Valentino's release, but from my understanding, the Nords' terms have been too great. They've got nothing to lose in this whole affair, they see no reason to be reasonable."

"Actually deals are always made in a way the benefits both individuals. If they have nothing to lose but the rest of the world does of course they'd make an unreasonable demand."

"I do feel that there should be some additional compensation for the aditional danger of your additional task."

"I'm all for that but before we go deciding about breaking in or anything I'm hoping our U'kin here has a half decent plan that doesn't involve getting ourselves killed before I back anything."

"Of course, those details will need to be worked out once everyone on the team has decided if they will help or not. Don't you think? First things first."

"I see. Well, you hired us to escort you and we'll do that at the least. I can't speak for the rest of the team on helping with the ... rescue .. but you can count on me for that as well. I do feel that there should be some additional compensation for the aditional danger of your additional task."

"I think an extra 150 Gold could be mustered up for you all, but I would have thought restoring a king to his family and country would have been reason enough for heroes..."

"Well, if it were just myself and my companions, we'd probably wait for night fall and try and sneak our way in, as you've already seen I have a few tricks of my own."

The U'kin's face shimmered before changing its form again.

"Now, seeing as how we may have some more muscle on our side, a more straightforward strategy may be viable."

Borris pulled out a rough sketch of what appeared to be a fort.

"The outpost has a garrison of about 15 men. There's an entrance to the sea in the rear and watch towers at each of the corners. The interior courtyard is occupied by 3 buildings, the barracks (C ), a storehouse (B), and a small auxiliary building (A) where we think Grishnod is being held captive. We aren't master tacticians and honestly, we thought you might be able to provide a better strategy than what we could come up with."

"How about all of us blend in as a circus troupe. That way, they would not see us as a threat and we can walk in and out of their outpost without much suspicion. Our party can act as handymen and mascots while Borris and his troupe can perform and party with the Nords. I am sure there would be guards on duty at the watch towers. Make sure that those who are not on duty are drunk and unconscious before we take out the guards at the watch towers. Once they are taken care of, we can save your Orc friend, pillage their barracks and storehouse for weapons and supplies, take out the remaining drunk Nords and walk out of their camp pretending nothing has happened."

"Thank you. Please don't take it as being greedy, I am only think of the fact that we need to use more consumable items for this raid, theoretically. That's what the gold is to cover. Heroing is extremely expensive work for some of us, as you can see by my tattered clothing."

Turning to Purpearl.

"That seems like a solid plan to start. We'll probably need to hide our heroic clothing under something more plain. If we could slip something into the guards meads to knock them out, that could work - but how?"

Turning to the troupe.

"Do you know if the off-duty guards tend to drink at a pub or somewhere there are barmaids? Perhaps we could slip something in the mead barrel while your group provides a distraction?"

"It's not greedy, we've got to eat same as anyone, and I'd think we're owed a sight more than originally agreed, since the mission appears to be quite a bit more than originally agreed."

"I'd not like to be party to starting another war."

The gnome nods approvingly as Purpearl outlines her idea. "The key to that plan will be getting rid of as many of the garrison as possible without fighting them. We are only six and five, and while I'm not worried about fighting fifteen, Cinna is right about starting a war."

Purpearl glances at Nelvin and blushes.

"Only mead will do, if we call for a celebration and let them party till they are silly and drunk. That's when we strike the few that are actually awake. But it is better if we have something to slip in their barrels to knock them out..."

"Those Nords stick to themselves, so it won't be a while before anyone figures out if someone saved their bargaining chip or he broke free himself. They will most likely blame themselves for letting their guard down and give their captive a chance to break free and take out the remaining guards himself."

"Sounds like something of a plan but what's plan B if say, they don't want entertainment?"

"Sounds like something of a plan but what's plan B if say, they don't want entertainment?"

"Ah, Boris can disguise as a Nord and say he has orders from the higher ranks to transport the Orc to a more secure location. Best if the Nords let Borris take him outright. But if they insist on providing a small party of escort, we can take them on far away from their outpost and save the Orc."

"That is the stupid." Baradock muttered bluntly at the elf. Disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing--If he was going to be dragged on this suicide mission he would be dragged kicking and screaming. "I do not believe the clown has a spare uniform lying around here."

His eyes flicked to Boris

"Right?"

"Take care sir, if you wish to insult the lady, do it so the whole group can hear you."

"Wouldn't be too much of a problem, though they'd probably be wondering why a high ranking chief is out and about by himself.

"Take care sir, if you wish to insult the lady, do it so the whole group can hear you."

Baradock ignored Boris' answer, instead he glared icily at the skeleton. "There is a line between doing the insulting and keeping this squad alive. Know your place, circus clown." His iris struck a lasting pierce before turning to Boris.

Taking this chance to reiterate his stance on the idea, "Looks like the plan has failed, we are better off on our regular quest. It is not our place to do this."

"Actually I'd say the plan is pretty good. If you're in heroica and haven't died yet that does say something about your strength so it's not as if any of us are about to die."

"Looks like the plan has failed, we are better off on our regular quest. It is not our place to do this."

"I'm guessing you're rather new. Often enough it seems we get hired to do stranger things that were not part of the original package. From what I've read of other quests you're doing pretty well when your employer isn't trying to kill you himself."

Baradock's eyes made like daggers, "I am doing even better when we are not running into a garrison as clowns. We went on suicide missions with better odds than this back in battalion." Battalion, what an old headache he thought to himself. "You are a true dunce if you think you are the invinseeable because you are 'hero'." His voice crescendoed as he spoke, a odd pronunciation of invincible but still, it was filled with conviction.

"Hardly, I'd think I'm invincible because I'm a vampire rather than being a hero. And if a dunce could survive about 1000 years then maybe he's got something going for him.

"Look here you suicidal bastard. Whatever the 'vampire' is. I am not." He gestured to the party and the circus troupe alike, "Maybe they are the 'vampire' too. But I. am. not. I am not invinseeable. And I am not going to fight a fight that is not mine to fight.

He turned to Boris

"Why you want rescue this prisoner in the first place? What in it for you?"

"I owe someone a favor and this has always been part of the job. I explained to you why we had to keep it quiet though. Now, you'd best all figure out what we're going to do soon, we can't stay out here all day waiting to be found by a Nord hunting party."

"I'm going to help you and I urge the rest of the Heroes to help as well. We should really get going, I imagine time is not on our side."

Baradock began fumbling with his words with frustration before eventually silencing himself, half of him because he knew Dreyrugr was right, and the other half was because he was too fouled up to craft a concise statement. Suppressing himself just enough to speak, he looked to Cinna. "I am going." He averted his gaze to the Vampire. "Since I am not the invinseeable 'vampire' that you are. Stay out of my way." This dunce is ready to march into death's fortress because he knows that he will not catch him, Baradock thought to himself. Probably doesn't even care if the party gets killed. He lives no matter any way the plan goes.

He turned to Boris

"You said it was a about a days walk, yes?" He flicked his eyes to the cow. "That is enough time to talk tactics before we get there."

"We will be going in together. Borris and his troupe can do their act while we handle the cart and the lifting and carrying. When we reach the outpost, we will say we needed a stopover for a night's rest and we offer free entertainment and performance in return. Let Borris and his troupe do the talking about the circus and their travel plans. We won't be seen as a threat if we keep our cool and no mentioning of Heroica or the captured Orc or fighting, just a night's rest. Our party can serve them mead and let them drink till they are silly. When more than half of the Nords are drunk/unconscious, we can take on the guards and save the Orc. We have to make sure no one is alive to tell the tale."

Purpearl turns to Borris and his troupe,

"How many spare uniforms do you have and can all of you fight?"
