I'm not entirely convinced by the quality of the molds or the plastics used on Meg@blocks... or other Lego clones to be honest...

Besides that it's range of pieces, colours... a million things really...

You will discover by touching M*** B***** (censored for the unintitiated ) that you will receive a burning feeling that surges through your spine and brain as your body tries to translate a reaction to the heresy of all heresies that you have just committed. You will then continue to have unceasing seizures on the floor as your body simply can't handle what has been done.

That's the difference!

A note: If you ever handled M*** B***** as a child, you will realize that your reaction will not be quite as severe. To my sadness I am one of these people, and a simple bath is all that I feel I have to do upon contact.

I will say though that M*** B***** feel significantly different and have a different (not to mention unappealing) sheen to them making them look like a completely different breed when compared to our beloved Lego Brick.

As was said, the overall quality on the plastics is lower, and the quality control itself is lower.

(Bricks may not be identically shaped, colors range all over the place, more likely to get mis-molded parts, Ect...)

While Megabloks has improved over the years, it's still far inferior to our beloved Lego.

They tend towards larger more specialized molds, and more molded/detailed (and articulated) figures. This leads to less re-usability, but better (In theory...Not always in practice) looks for the original set. Mega has come up with some interesting ideas, but more often than not they simply rip-off whatever Lego has done. They aren't as picky when it comes to licences, leading to stuff like Halo and Need for Speed and the army-style themes. While a lot of people think that they are cheaper, it truly depends on the set. But looking at the overall picture, Lego is a MUCH better bang for your buck.

I don't get all the Mega hate going on, since it only takes a little fact finding to easily prove the Lego superiority. That being said, Mega's differences do appeal to some people, and there's nothing wrong with that.

The articulated figures are kinda cool, and some folks may be into one of their licensed themes. It all depends on what you want out of it.

As already mentioned, the bricks-who-shall-not-be-named, have appalling quality, and the design, parts usage, stickers, figure designs and the connections are rubbish. Price is a difference too, Lego being more expensive. Lego though exceeds the bricks-who-shall-not-be-named's value and fun. The ideas are better in Lego themes.

I could probably go on for ever but to keep it concise- the bricks-who-shall-not-be-named are RUBBISH!

Too true, too true!

I picked up a couple of the Marvel Super Heroes packs that they did a few years ago and I really didn't like the figures. The articulation makes them look very odd when displayed. The difference in the Whiplash figure I got and my Christo Custom is beyond compare. Host not in the same league. I thought they looked OK from the official images but in reality they don't match up.

For the customisers out there though the Whiplash 'lashes' and the Captain America shield from Megabloks can be quite useful as different parts. Generally the bricks are really iffy quality-wise.

I'd love if Lego had a GI Joe theme. Although the MB GI Joe look very cute, I can't make myself by them =( But I know I will. I guess my love for GI Joe is stronger.

MB has a lot of specialized part, a lot more than LEGO. We can compare two model, a medium sized MB and another one, a medium sized LEGO, with the same number of pieces, but with price different (let's imagine 12 €uros, buck$ or quids for MB vs. 20 €, $ or £. for the LEGO one).

Well, we'll discover that with the cheaper set we can make only a model, while with the more expensive one we can create at least three or four alternative models, as long as the fantasy and pieces count suggest us. So, going to conclusions, MB's worth for few hours, LEGO is worth for at least some week  .

Believe it or not, Mega Bloks is actually better than most say, and in several ways better than LEGO ("WHAT!? HERESY!!"...shut up). One: ARTICULATED MICROFIGURES

Two: Liftime garuntee on all parts with free replacements (unlike our beloved LEGO, who charges for parts). Plus, they have lines specifically for collectors, those being Halo, WoW and COD. I have quite a few Halo sets and I'm starting to collect the Warcraft sets.

And no, I'm not censoring "Mega Bloks". That's unnecessary and childish. Also, I'm not ashamed of buying from both companies.

The only MB pieces I've ever had (by accident) always felt low quality. And the plastic sheen just makes them feel... Too artificial.

And as for the licenses, Lego, for example, will never have a CoD or Halo theme because those two things really aren't intended for a younger audience.

Lego attempts to make products appealing for all ages, and although I'm sure a CoD or Halo theme would be popular, it probably wouldn't do much for their reputation.

That's my opinion.

Don't you think that's a bit harsh? I mean, it's only for amusement. :look:

The biggest difference is that they use too many big parts in my opinion. Imagine a construction toy which is full of the dreaded plane parts Lego had that noone likes. Megablocks leaves no window for creativity and free building with bricks which is the whole point of construction toys.

Kre-O does GI Joe, not Megablok.

Brick quality is fine and on par with Lego.

I've never touched a Megablok kit (though I'm considering the UNSC Mech),..so I can't comment on them.

the difference, besides the themes they have, unique parts, and the figures they use, isn't that much.

judging by what I've heard, MB's used to be of a poor quality but the thing is that now they are REALLY stepping up their game so they are bound to be major competition soon if they keep going at this rate.

honestly, i used to be brand loyal but now i'm not. Sry lego purists but Mega bloks has spongebob sets coming that actually look really good plus the rock em sock em robots type thing and ionix has pokemon and i really want the eevee set since that's one of my favorite pokemon.

Also, expect the quality to jump as MEGA was recently purchased by Mattel. As far as their current quality, it feels on par to me.

Funny thing, actually. My very first experience with Lego was actually MB. Way back in the early years of my childhood, my parents bought us a barrel of assorted, multicolor Mega B's for Christmas. It's what got me into Lego.
