Brandon Miller Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6393-1 I've always wondered why this set has never been released in a newer form. I still have my original one. I always loved playing with this set. Quote
LEGO Family Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Thats a lovely set. That could be awesome in a modern version. It does seem to fit the type of set TLC would release in a city wave. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Now that is a wonderful set......only wish I had one and it's being a thorn in my side that Lego hasn't released a new truck stop.......it didn't receive enough support on the TRU city survey back a few years ago. Perhaps there should be a contest at a later date........design a truck stop.....well since we have and are getting still even more great vehicles. Though as a footnote, I think 'Rick' might merge this topic with another about wishing what we want in city. Quote
antp Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 At least you got it in USA. In Europe we didn't get that set at all :p http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=7642-1 has some common points to be seen as a newer version of it Quote
LEGO Family Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 At least you got it in USA. In Europe we didn't get that set at all :p Aha .... So that might be the reason i dont think ive ever seen it before. Im kind of falling in love with it the more i look at it. :P Quote

In Europe we didn't get that set at all :p http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=7642-1 has some common points to be seen as a newer version of it My thoughts exactly, that set also has two trucks and a service station, but having a three truck set would still be really great Quote
Chilis Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) Naww.., My heart really goes warm when I see pictures like this. Lego (City) from the happy 80s. <3 Born in 1979, and never had this one, wasn`t available outside USA. Wish it would come out in a re-release sometime.. Thanks for posting. sneff Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 My Mom bought this set for me back in the 80's. It was missing a couple pieces so we brought it back and i ended up buying another set. I just found one on fleabay last year and got it back. So glad to have it in my collection once more. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 If they remade this set with today standards (oversized vechicles and big buildings) it would cost around 120$! :D Quote
Carrera124 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 A great set from the good old days... where vehicles still were 4w Quote

dhc6twinotter Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I used to want that set so bad! It's a great set, and TLG should definitely make a new one. The LEGO City Garage (7642) came close though, but it was more of a repair shop than an actual truck stop. A proper truck stop should have the following: -Repair center -Fuel pumps -Restaurant -Accessory shop -Tow truck -Two trucks (one long-nose semi and one cab-over truck with trailer would be awesome) -Truck wash and/or scales would be a plus, but not necessary. ResIpsaLoquitur Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Man, that brings me back. I think my first set was a 720 Basic Building set, one of the primary models of which was a 6-wide truck. A few years later, I got the 6378 Shell Service Station for Christmas. Between those two sets, I loved the whole trucks and fueling station combo. I'd love a modern version of both (though Octan has bought out Shell), particularly since my smallish City has no gas station, so all the cars are going to run out of fuel real soon. Quote
dr_spock Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Lovely set. I miss those classic 4 wide vehicles. I suppose it is not too hard to MOC a modern version. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I've wondered the same thing. I always thought this would make a great modern set, lots of play value. I mean, they gave us a parking garage... to park... Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Wonderfull set ...I love the 4 studs wide trucks! This is a new inspiration for my projects! Quote
Brandon Miller Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 I wonder how much bigger a modern version would need to be for play value? Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Yesterday I've just finished my enhaced version of this beautiful set ...now I've to place the orders on Brick link! Stay tuned! Quote
andythenorth Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Those buildings have no backs. So lame, I wish TLG would stop this new trend of unfinished buildings. This new set will never be popular with AFOLs. The buildings are nothing more than a collection of large doors and windows. The roof of one of them is practically a single-piece moulding. Lame lame lame. I won't be buying any more Lego if this is the direction it's taking. Totally devalues my collection. Quote
finnbricker Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Andy, this set is from 1987. What do you mean? Quote

I don't mind a little irony here and there at all, but when it constitutes an entire post (without even indicating you're joking) it's starting to look like a lot like trolling. Please consider this for future posts. Thank you. Quote

LegoPanda Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 i agree they should make a newer version of this, with some truck similar to the yellow truck we got two years ago Quote
gazumpty Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I feel they should make this again also...at a similar scale to the Town Square set we have had recently :) There are an awful lot of trucks in the last wee while....they need somewhere to stop off :D Quote
