Venunder Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 A very good new Lego City. now I know just how much space I will need for my own City when I finally build it. Quote
sin Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Man I am so jealous of your Lego room Werlu Ulcer! I will be watching your city come together, looking sweet so far. Quote
Legogal Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 You have made enormous progress in such a short period of time that it is amazing! From unfinished room to this in less than a year is a miracle. Way to go! Quote
The Jersey Brick Guy Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 The houses look good where they are. Quote
Werlu Ulcur Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 The EVA sheets are a nice touch--much better than the bare table. I'm completely unfamiliar with Lego trains, are the tracks easily attachable to base plates? As long as the tracks are perfectly aligned, they snap easily over the base plates. However that only works for straight tracks - regular or flex. The EVA sheets gave that section of the city a much more "developed" look. Before the green base I always thought that whole part looked like I was just temporarily building some sets and trains over the table. Besides, it buffered down the clac-clac-clac-clac of the trains running. Monster house loos so cool that on my want list, you have some excellent pictures there. I thought it would be a nice touch in my layout. But as a set it's GREAT. Honestly, as good as any of the high-praised modular sets. A very good new Lego City. now I know just how much space I will need for my own City when I finally build it. Thanks! Don't kid yourself, when you start a city you will soon realize that whatever space you thought would be enough will be too small. I'm already planning on adding three smaller tables to the extremities so that I can have a little more room. If I didn't have a train yard I would have (almost) enough space, but with the train yard roughly occupying half of my building area I'm running out of space for buildings. You have made enormous progress in such a short period of time that it is amazing! From unfinished room to this in less than a year is a miracle. Way to go! I'm always dependent of getting parts, but even if I had a huge supply at hand I don't have too much spare time to build. But being sincere, even if I had all the time in the world, I would build for small stints only. It's not like I already know how everything is supposed to look - ideas only blossom as I build things. The houses look good where they are. They do, don't they? At first I thought they would look like they were just thrown there because there wasn't anywhere else for me to put them, but now they look as the blend in pretty well. Quote
timmyc1983 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Your LEGO city is coming along brilliantly!! The progression is great to watch. I love your new train station, it looks great! I look forward to the next update and the EN, happy building Quote

Werlu Ulcur Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 Update: My Emerald Night is ready and running! It's motorized and I had to make a few mods for it to run on my track, but it's running flawlessly - in a few minutes I'll open a thread in the Train Section with more details. What a beautiful set it is! Without a doubt one of the Top 10 sets Lego ever made in my book. The build is very nice and the attention to detail is superb. I absolutely loved it! The only problem is that the thing is WIDE, and because of the overhang in curves, I had to modify my small station so that it can come in (I just made the catwalk longer). As cool as the Emerald is, the two sets above are MUCH more important to me and Legoville. Those sets were a Christmas gift from me to my wife, she built both and now Legoville has one more official builder . Quote
Werlu Ulcur Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Darn, just realized it has been more them a year since I last updated this ! My Legoville is still striving, but in 2014 I did venture in other directions so urban improvements have been a little slow. Still, there are a few new features: However, the biggest news is that last month I expanded my construction space: This is what I intended to do when I got the tables made, and finally last month I got the project done. Below the tables I had made to size small "drawer-tables" on wheels, that I can pull out to build on. One of them definitively will be a Castle & Knights themed area, where I already got my castle and a few sets built (it's been a favorite of my kids lately, so there's no way i can keep it tidy right now). I have a LOT of parts to buy, from baseplates to bricks, and I think I'm getting a second castle to make a bigger one. I don't have anything defined for the other drawers yet, so now I'm just using one as a hangar for my choppers. This afternoon I was doing some maintenance work on the city, and I was thinking of maybe using one drawer as an additional block, though not physically connected to the rest of the city. Except for the Castle & Knights area I don't have anything decided yet, so lets see what I'll do with these new areas. Quote
Werlu Ulcur Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Update: Legoville now offers French cuisine! Since I have the sidewalk of the road plate, I advanced the front of the building two studs over the set's original baseplate, and with this I could have a larger back yard, that I moded to accommodate a garden of sorts on the back. As you can see, I'm missing a lot of bley 1x2 tiles for the sidewalk (en route), but I guess this section of the city is pretty much done. I think that the next buildings I'll put on the other side of the train track, and start developing that side of town. Edited March 4, 2015 by Werlu Ulcur Quote
