Lately I have noticed a number of "senior citizen" aged AFOL's. In the USA, AARP (American Association for Retired People) defines a "senior citizen" as over 50.

On Eurobricks it seems to me that the majority of AFOL's are between 20 to at most 40 maybe mostly 30-something. Some younger, some older.

I have also noticed a number who (like me) seem a little older, maybe 50-70. Eurobricks has a title/badge to recognize our ladies, how about some recognition for us seniors?

If you' re "older than dirt" stand up and tell us who you are.

I'll go first...

Hi, I'm Andy and I'm older than dirt! (68, much dirt here!)

And I still enjoy building with LEGO!

There I've said it, I feel better, whew, big load off my shoulders.

I'm in....

I remember when dirt first turned up. And the only MOCs we built were of the freakin' pyramids.

Eurotrash, Aged 53

I am not that old, I'm 31, but... I am so happy for you guys, my wish is that when and if I reach your ages, I'll be like you, creative and into Lego. Big respect from cold Croatia,.

Big respect!

It's a thread about ancient AFOLs and Monsinjor turns up with his Grim Reaper avatar - very funny!

Haha, funny indded, I didn0t realize it. But you guys have the pass, don't worry. :sweet:

Whew! Getting worried there when the Grim Reaper showed up. Glad he is giving us a pass.

We have CARP in Canada. Now get off my Lego lawn.

Where are all the old guys and gals (excuse me men and women)? I know you're out here! Now come in here. Tell us who you are.

Andy D

I'm nowhere near your ages, but I do like the idea of recognizing those of age around you. Hope you get some recognition, and why hasn't Historian commented here yet? He made a pretty interesting comment in the "starting out, how do I explain being an AFOL to non Lego Fans" thread,

Only 2 of us willing to stand up! I know you are out there! I know there are more than 2 of us in the over 50 club.

Come on, who / where are you?

Andy D

I turned fifty-one in October, so I guess that puts me in your category. Not sure that I'd like a great big sign advertising how old and withered I am, though.

Thanks for joining us...

As long as you look down to see the grass, not up to see grass from below you are not too old. As long as I can stack bricks on top of each other I am not too old.

Just label me... Still stacking bricks!

I'm digging the new badge! I'm grateful it wasn't a Bus Pass, or a Rocking Chair, or an enlarged Prostate, or a Graybeard, and especially glad it's not Monsinjor's Grim Reaper....

OK "Old Timers"! Step up and join the club and you will get (I hope) a bright and shiney "Old Timers" badge (I think).

BTW: Thanks to whoever gave us the shiney, new "Old Timers" badge.

I think that might be Fugazi.

Our "Old Timers" club does not seem to be growing.

I guess there are only three of use here on Eurobricks... Kind of makes it an exclusive club! But it shouldn't be!

Just kidding, how about it? Step up (LEGO Historian?) and other of the more senior (age wise) LEGO builders.

I still like my shiney new "Old Timers" badge and I wear it proudly and I will. As long as I can stack bricks!

Andy D

I'm still too young to join the Old Timers (not quite 50 yet). Although every year it is getting harder and harder to see those tiny parts that fall on the floor.

Yup, your eyes are not the only part that goes....just wait! Badge looks great to me!

Count me in....many, many years ago! First grandchild on the way for next year, so my Duplos will come out of the closet for sure!

Cool little badge guys. I look forward to getting one in 20 years. Lol.

Sounds like the thanks is going back an forth. Since you can't agree, I say thanks to the both of you for the shiny new "Old Timers" badge.

Now we just need to attract more members.

Andy D is so old that when he was a child he made buildings out of stone because was the only element available in that time.
