August 30, 201410 yr I will be 52 in September, time speeds up the older I get, it seems. I just got back to LEGO in ernest this year, after having dropping out into the dark ages about 1974, I think. I still have 3 old sets from back then, I gave away my big box of mixed bricks to my niece. Some of them were so well used they wouldn't stick together anymore if you turned them upside down..LOL. I got the Robie House back when it came out, and that got me thinking about LEGO again, and then, when I 'retired' I have been buying a lot. I have several of the Architecture sets, modular buildings, some City sets, several Creator Expert sets, and 2 Technic sets. Also, I have been buying brick from BrickLink to do my own MOC's too. One of which I have on LEGO Ideas as a project. I call it the Mayor's House. (Any support for it would be most appreciated!) See below... I am starting to get some flack from the family, on how many bricks I have. I did a Basebrick inventory and told them how many bricks I have. Its just shy of 60K now. I know that is a lightweight by some standards!
August 30, 201410 yr I turned 50 earlier this year and although I don't consider myself to be old various family members derive (rather too much!) enjoyent from refering to me as such Can a Moderator give grun64 and talos their Old Timer's badge please? Andy D Edited August 30, 201410 yr by Andy D
September 4, 201410 yr Oh gee.... I forgot all about this thread....or was that Dementia.... ... and where were my manners... if anyone wants a steep senior discount (even if your within 5 years of eligibility of AARP )... for the "Bible" of old time LEGO...my unofficial Sets/Parts collectors guide.... (see my latest special in Eurobricks Bazaar)....send me a message! I did want to add a comment.... for those of you whose early years go back into the 1960s.... although ABS replaced Cellulose Acetate in 1963 in continental Europe, Britain, and Australia.... Cellulose Acetate continued to be found in many USA/Canada LEGO sets until as late as 1972. So what you remember as LEGO elements with poor clutch power.... could have been CA parts that were already loosing their shape....
September 21, 201410 yr Nice to have this thread, we can certainly learn a lot from it.........though i've still got a ways to go before 50. But im old enough to know that you guys are the true WISE/EXPERIENCED ones. Edited September 21, 201410 yr by bricklayer
