I finally found this set yesterday - and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Apart from the actual big gun, which was as poor as I expected and will shortly become spare parts the new Royal Guards look quite decent and the Gunners themselves are awesome - they even have slightly different facial expressions which I didn't notice at first which is probably unneccessary given their bloody great big helmets but is welcome none the less.. Even the new blasters were kind of fun. I would still rather have had some different imperials than the Royal Guards but overall it's a nice little set minifig wise.

Yea, I would have preferred that one of the Royal guards were taken out and replaced with the rare Navy Trooper that only exists in the Tie Fighter set.

Finally a 40% sale, so I picked up a couple of these. Nice set, Royal Guards are good, Gunners are excellent. Very nice to have two useful heads beneath those gunner helmets.

I actually enjoyed the small build too, not too shabby for a BP. I liked the new shooters a lot more than I thought I would.

I too would have preferred replacing one of the royal guards with another useful fig.

Nice review, very good battle pack in which i will be picking many for the royal guard to add to my existing army

I bought this set a few days ago and it's a very nice set and I love the Imperial Gunners! But one Royal Guard would have been enough ;)

As much I love the red guys designs the other two looks so silly. Do they really had such weird helmets? They look like robotic cyclops for me because of that print.

OH wow. they indeed looks so ridiculous even in movie.

Anyway. Love this set as it provides great amount of pieces, new very interesting blasters.

The flickfire missle is rubbish though.

I always liked the gunners helmets. They are a nice reflection of the death star architecture.

Not to mention if the weapon you operate can destroy planets you need something unique.

I plan to get at least a few of these sets, love the figs.

I bought this set for my son as he is somewhat interested in Star Wars. It does seem odd that the name of this is "Death Star Troopers" when none of the four minifigs fit that description. The gunners are great, and I would not change them in any way. The Imperial guards are not too bad, but it does seem strange to have them in the absence of the Emperor. Besides, if you buy the Death Star for the Emperor, don't you get the guards as well with that set?

In my mind, the perfect set would have been:

1 gunner, because I agree they are great and do not exist apart from this set

1 royal guard, to augment a collection or make it affordable for those who cannot buy the big sets

1 Imperial Navy Trooper, because I know I saw them in the movies on board the DS

1 stormtrooper, because the Death Star is full of them, they are troopers, and you can never have too many of these

I wonder where they could fit ncely in the death star set ;)

I bought one of these packs a while back, and just recently picked up another one to get more DS Gunners, and more of the Royal Guards. I figure you can never have enough of those, and now have 6 of them which I think is a good amount.

I just wish they'd re-release the Imperial Shuttle so that more scenes can be made with the Royal Guards and the shuttle.

I still think calling this set "Death Star Troopers" is kinda like releasing a battle pack called "Snowtroopers" containing a couple Hoth Rebels and a couple AT-AT Drivers...

...but I love it! The guards are nice (tho the telescope should be reversed from the instructions/box, with the grey bar plugged into the narrow end; it means the guards grip it higher, but visually looks better IMO), and the DSGs are incredible. Love the different head prints; like with the Republic/Sith Troopers pack, TLG gave us nice faces when they could've used plain black or grey heads.

Yeah those mini sets are nice to get some minifig. I'm still looking for the cheapest way to get some trooper ans it seems to be the one !

I really, really like those gunners and their helmets - need to get several more soon. I also dislike the Royal Guards, but I think I would have like to get a couple of stormtroopers and a black astromech instead. It would be a perfect Imperial minifig pack for me with those.

But the parts for the canon went directly in my spare box...

I hate the new guns, but still love the DS gunners. Gon'ta pick up 3 of these later.
