WesternOutlaw Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I just came back from a trip to Legoland, California, and wanted to share some pictures of the new Las Vegas miniland display. The pictures are very large, so I'll just share the best (in my opinion): The Excalibur - bright and colorful, made to look like a castle: The New York - a nice collection of different buildings with lots of color: The Venecian and Paris (this one is for you Jipay): Set your sails for the Treasure Island (I thought of you Phes, when I snapped this one). It included a sea battle with cannon ball fire (water spashes), and when the white ship gets hit, the mast falls down. And my favorite, the Luxor. I just love the sphinx: The Las Vegas display was really impressive. The buildings were very vivid and colorful, and the design outstanding. Overall, Legoland was a lot of fun, but I was disappointed to not find any of the newer sets. I think I would have bought the Cafe Corner had I seen it there. The sets that they had in the stores were nothing more than what you could find in your local toy stores. I did pick up an exclusive Las Vegas Miniland collectors brick that I will be auctioning off later :-D . Hope you enjoy the images. Quote
CopMike Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Thanks for the pictures Brickster! It sure does look great. I Quote
Athos Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Very cool. Though it looks like the Sphinx is suffering from some kind of gastro-intestinal distress... I've got to go see that. What would be really fun is to go to Vegas and then go see the Lego renditions, which is pretty feasible with Vegas and San Diego being in relatively close proximity. Steve Quote
Brainbox Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 But... that can't be Vegas. Grissom and co aren't investigating a bizarre and puzzling murder! ;-) CSI for anyone that didn't know. Quote
3D LEGO Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Just to let you in on a little something: Gary McIntire, who was also the founder of ULUG (Utah LUG-and of which I am a member), was offered a part-time job last summer as a master builder for the Las Vegas addition. And after working for a few months (and missing all our meetings and shows), he was offered the position of Head master builder, which to our joy and sorrow he accepted. So now he lives in San Diego, and is no longer our president. 3D LEGO Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted April 9, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted April 9, 2007 Thanks for taking these pictures. The sphinx look greats. I might try to build a smaller version. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 It's nice, but the Berlin diorama only takes up one side of a room? The rest is all stuff like Adventurers, animals, BIG people, and cinemas? Seems like a wasted opportunity to make an inner city LEGOLAND. Quote

There are other dioramas like the New York skyline, downtown New Orleans, San Fransisco, and other displays. This is just the newest collection. Quote

Oops, only just noticed I posted in the wrong thread. I meant to post in the Discovery Center one. Really sorry. :-$ Quote
