Your auction is for double the retail price ($10 instead of $5). If you want to help the Lego collectors out there offer them at retail price.

Or he could try to make a little money off it in order to make a profit like a sensible person. Ebay after all is designed for people to make money with, not to 'help the community'.

Why make a profit on a "community" board? This site isn't Ebay and shouldn't be used as such...

It's the sales section, people are always selling things on here for money. Some people sell their whole collections here when they decide to finish with the hobby. Can you not be part of a community and still make money?

When people sell older bricks because they no longer need/want them that's one thing. When someone sells a brand new, limited (only available at TRU) item during the holidays, that's another thing. Most people tend to call that scalping...

Why is that one thing? To me its the same.... Just because you decided 1 is acceptable the other is not that does not make it universally so you know.....

I had a friend selling me poylbags for Lake Town Guard for 6.50$ a piece..... bought 5 for my own collection and found it reasonable.... why shouldnt he make something for getting them for me?

That's just not the type of board help I'm used to. I've worked on toy boards where "hot" toys are sold to other collectors at cost, even when those toys could have been flipped on Ebay for 400% their MSRP.

Yes, some do that, but some dont.... no need to ''cry'' about it really

If you really want something that bad you can pay a little extra... if you dont want to then you obviously do not want it enough.... thats my motto!

I have to agree with you. I'm used to boards where collectors help other collectors out with items available at retailers. These same boards have rules against selling items over MSRP when they're available at retailers. Now if it's a retired or out of production set, I understand. Unfortunately EB doesn't have these rules.

With that being said, the listing has ended and this topic should be locked.

Just to throw my 2 cents in, I agree as well. If people wanted to get the polybags on eBay they would simply go there and do a search and buy them. Why does he need to make a thread about it here? Just to advertise his auction? That doesn't seem very helpful to the community.

He might give 10% discount on here thanks to ebay fees taken away... maybe even 15%... who knows did anyone even try to negotiate :D

I actually don't need this item, so It's not like I'm personally interested in acquiring it from him. I'm merely suggesting that in an ideal dynamic people here would help people with retail items that are generally limited in nature, like polybags. No need to sell it to a fellow collector at twice the MSRP. Sure, it's a capitalistic society and people have every right to make money, but I just expect that this board (like others I've been on) should hold to the idea that people selling product should not be scalping.

I cannot tell you how many other boards I'm on or have been on where people come out of no where during the holidays to inquire about hot items or flip hot items. Simply put - it is preying on the uninformed or desperate in order to make a buck.

That's all... I won't continue to beat this dead horse...

Whats a poy bag? :)

I'll use this thread since it already exists ... I remember someone doing something similar with the previous Mirkwood Elf poly. I'd like to ask anyone who'd be able to get me some of these new polybags (about 5) at reasonable price. Without too much fuss, just picking them by the way if it's possible please PM me.

Thanks in advnce! :)

The eBay listing has ended for quite awhile. Allow me to come in and close this topic. Thanks.
