I've included something that, with any ounce of luck, will free you from her grasp and take you to a safe haven on a farm not far from the port. With a short journey, it may allow you to return to your family before Baba's even realized what's happened. One of my men found your letter out in the sewers. Apparently you sent it using Ziegfried magic. You should know that the Wolf's Den has been well-protected from all spells and enchantments. I can only imagine what kind of letters the six houses would send me if they could...

However, our inspection found your letter and the item you sent harmless, so I trust your questions about Violetta are genuine. Violetta - Kayla, that is, even though she refused to use that name - mentioned she had a younger sister growing up, but that she was taken from her custody. If you are that younger sister, you must learn that Kayla had a very tragic life, as short as it ended up to be. She was too proud to admit it, but I could see how torn she was inside after having lost everything and having to resort to burglary to make ends meet. I gladly took her under my wing once I learned of her skills, but it took time for us to grow as friends. She had heavy trust issues, you see, and I couldn't blame her. I was a wolf-headed stranger promising to change the city she was born in for the better. She did not believe me at first, but in the end I think she understood that I was serious. Serious enough to send her to her death.

I never wanted her to die, but I always knew it was a risk. She was smart and skillful, but her pride was her fatal weakness - she never learned to back down when things got too rough. And I did not want to stop her from serving my goal, it would have been patronizing of me, and that was the last thing she wanted.

I cared for your sister, and we did share a bed, even though there is no room for love in my heart. For that, you are welcome to the Wolf's Den, Karie, to see for yourself if the rumors of my monstrosity are true. Unfortunately, I have nothing of Kayla left in my possession, but I wish to give you something she once stole for me. Now, you can return it to its rightful owners - that is, the Bonaparte family - or you can wear it around your neck when you venture into the sewers below this city, and my men will recognize you as my guest by it.

Included is a bottle of Mead and a bottle of Nostrum. There have been nights where I've wanted to unwind with a bottle of liquor after a show, and I think the feelings would be mutual.
