Sandy Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 All heroes receive another letter from Noel Ziegfried. "Alright, enough of this shit. You're making me spend my entire winter break from school with all of these moronic letters of yours. I need time to chillax before going back to the Big A-of-E, so just stop sending stuff already, okay?" ~The event has ended. Your letters will be answered in due time.~
Sandy Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 Mighty Smaragdea and Dragonlord, I was very sorry when I heard you were unhappy about your hoard, and I hope Dragonlord sent you my greetings!? I would like to use this opportunity to send you something more tangible this time to help you fill your hoard; while it is not gold, I think it might find place by your side, since it is a magical jewelry, albeit minor, - the Snake Eye Charm. And for the stalwart Dragonlord a Health Core, to help him in his time of need. Hopefully next time we see each other you will be lying on a mountain of gold and, Dragonlord, I hope you will be less troubled. Merry Grogmas and regards from the elven sorcerer Thalion Dwinlas "To Thalion Dwinlas, Smaragdea sends her regards to you as well. She was quite amused when letters addressed to her started to appear. It's a shame I can't spend more time with her nowadays. She's stuck rotting alone on that cave of hers for most of the time, so any break to the monotony is welcome to her. She appreciates the trinket you sent her as well, it was very kind of you. You may have this old helmet of mine as a Grogmas gift. It's a little worse for wear, but should suit your needs - if you're a dragoon, that is. Well, as my friend would say, merry Grogmas! - The Dragonlord & Smaragdea -" Thalion receives a helmet suitable for a dragoon with the letter. Dragoon's Helmet (SP:3, makes wearer absorb attacks of the element of their pet dragon, gaining health instead of damage; suitable for dragoons; headwear) "Adressed to Smaragdea, I recently found something you might like, I hope it makes a fine addition to your hoard. Written by Guts Holla, member of Heroica, Captain of the Wind Thief." Guts attaches Chauncy's Diamond Lamp of Summoning (Summons ????), and sends the letter away. "To Guts Holla, Smaragdea thanks you for the fine new toy you gave her, and wishes you to have your old toy back. Apparently she is fed up tinkering with the laws of time and space. Merry Grogmas! - The Dragonlord & Smaragdea -" Inside the letter Guts finds something he gave the dragon almost a year and a half ago: the Beholder's Eye (allows one round per quest to be replayed). "To Ulric. From Carvenhall, a follower from within Heroica. It has not been long since I was against the group which is called the Wolfgang. That opinion has clearly changed, as I hope you can recognize, and even now I fight proudly as a "freak of nature" - a reptilian beast warrior. You are a man of great strength and power, and I admire that. Some might consider me a traitor by admiring you, but this does not stop me. What I wonder, however, is why you are still hiding. Despite the outstanding level of reputation that I have acquired among your group, I have not once seen you face to face... in addition to this, I am doubtful to the wisdom of employing the wicked witch Baba. She is of a power that no mortal can control, so in this I want to warn you - although I am sure you are more aware of the situation than I, or any other man living in Eubric. To sum this letter up, I want to include a pitiful tribute for you, sir. Included is a health core, a grand potion, a potion, a remedy, and a mead. Much strength and power to the wolves! Benji Carvenhall" "To Benji Carvenhall, Contacting me through letters like this is highly risky. The Ziegfrieds cannot be trusted on matters of privacy. If we are ever to meet face to face, I will gladly answer your questions, but for now it must suffice to say that I appreciate your dedication to our cause. I thank you for your patronage in the form of the items, and I've included a few items to be sent back to you. I hope they make it through the Ziegfried screening. Keep up the good work, and you will see Eubric reborn. Ulric Wolfkin, the future King of Eubric" Benji receives two items with Ulric's letter: Chaotic Bomb (Causes 100 random elemental damage to all opponents) Cosmic Essence (Revives a knocked out ally with full health and ether and gives them the blessed-effect) "Adressed to Sküld, Merry Grogmas. Hope you and your mother are doing fine, and that this Magic Compass serves you well. From Guts Holla." "Hi, Guts! The Oracle told me about Grogmas festivities last year, and it all sounded really fun! I love getting gifts. <3 Me and mother are doing great, thanks for asking. We moved out of the Hovels, but I still go to work at the Shrine every day. The Oracle isn't feeling that great, though, but some heroes went over to Azzurat to fix things, so I'm sure she'll be fine soon. Thank you for the compass, it's sooo cool! <3 Please accept this amulet as my gift to you, it was blessed by Fabula Sibylla herself. Happy Grogmas! Umm, or was it Merry...? Sküld Verdandi" Sküld's letter included the amulet she wrote about: Blessed Amulet (protects from cursed-effect, accessory) Dear Fabian Remember me, the only beautiful guy who helped you get your Jester Hat back? I still don't know why you keep, I don't think it's quite fashionable, and you seem like the guy who knows fashion. Anyways, just wanted to tell you your products are amazing. So here's a Smelling Salt so you can work twice as fast and we get twice as beautiful clothes and you get twice as gold in gainings. Kiss kiss, Heckz Brutenhal. A gaudy pink letter arrives to Heckz. "Toodloo, Heckz! How cpuld I ever forget such a strapping young man such as yourself? I never got to thank you properly for returning our stolen wares to us, so let me amend that in this letter. Let me tell you more about the Buffoon's Hat. I don't keep it out of admiration, but to protect others from it's dangerous powers. Do you know how it feels to be constantly mocked, sneered and laughed at? Growing up as a half-elf, I do. I was too pretty for the humans, too clumsy for the elves, and too pointy-eared for the dwarves. Nobody wanted to be my friend, but I decided to overcome all that and make a name for myself. Thus was born Fabian Fancyfeather, owner of Fantabulous Fashion Boutique! It's a tough act to follow, let me tell you that, but fame has it's price to pay. You, too, have the makings of becoming famous, Heckz, with your looks and poise, but please be careful - beauty and youth are elusive, and fame has a tendency to make people blind until it's too late. As a reminder of the cost of failure, I will send you the Buffoon's Hat. See for yourself the dangers that it contains, despite being just a ridiculous piece of headwear. You're welcome to come to my boutique anytime if you want to chat some more. With love, ~*Fabian Fancyfeather*~" Heckz receives the dreaded Buffoon's Hat in a parcel that came with the letter. Buffoon's Hat (Prevents anyone from taking the wearer seriously; protects from Free Hits unless the wearer is the last hero standing; headwear)
Sandy Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 To Merlin and Morgan Ziegfried. Greetings young Merlin! I hope you are doing well and that your studies are progressing nicely. And greetings to you as well young Morgan; I take it you still look after your brother and progress in your magical studies too!? This Potion and Tonic are for you and your brother. Merry Grogmas to you and your entire family. Sincerely, Thalion Dwinlas Thalion receives a letter from the young Ziegfried siblings. "Dear Mr. Dwinlas, It's me, Morgan Ziegfried, writing this letter because my big brother said he couldn't be bothered. He's too busy practicing with his sword. He says he's going to save our cousin Bluto from the witch that took him. I'm pretty sure he'd need magic to do that, but he's never been into it like the rest of our family. We're both being homeschooled by our mother, but Merlyn isn't concentrating like he should be. That's why he ended up as a frog that one time. As for me, I'm getting better than even Lilly, who's a little too stuck-up for her own good. But I shouldn't write bad things about others at Grogmas-time, should I? Thank you for the gifts, they're great. This Phoenix Essence is for you, I hope it keeps you up and saving lost brothers and stuff like that. Merry Grogmas! ~ Morgan (& Merlyn) Ziegfried" Thalion receives a Phoenix Essence (Revives a fallen ally with full health during a battle.) with the letter. Greetings Åsa Nifelheimr! We saw eachother a little while ago, I hope all is going well; for this Grogmas I'd like to give you a potion, hoping to help you and our tribe. Sincerely, Alexander Vandangant "Dear Master Vandangant, On behalf of my tribe, I want to wish you a Merry Grogmas as well. *Åsa Nifelheimr of the Nôrns*" Alexander gets a Tonic (Restores 5 ether to the target.) attached to the letter. To Portia, I recently came across this vial of Volatile Venom and thought you might be interested in it. Perhaps, you can unlock its secrets and improve the effectiveness or variety of your merchandise. As it is the season, it would seem only right to also wish you a Merry Grogmas. Sincerely, Jeaux "Dear Jeaux, Gee, thanks for the venomous gift. Most men usually give me flowers or jewelry to get my attention, just so you know. Your gesture reminds me of my ex-boyfriend Nikolaus, though, so you can have the ugly shield he left me before we broke up. Don't worry, he's dead now so he won't be needing it back. Next time you think of sending me venoms or potions as a gift, remember that I'm just a merchant, I don't actually make the products I sell. I leave that to the smelly alchemists at the Guild of Invision. Thanks for nothing, anyway. ~ Portia" With the letter arrived an oval shield for Jeaux. Serpenthead Shield (SP:2, causes poisoned by 2-effect to anyone physically attacking the user) Dear Scheherazade, Thank you for all that you have done for the organisation of Heroica and its members. Please accept this Air Bomb in case you encounter any threats to the safety of Heroica. Merry Grogmas! Avalanche "Dear Avalanche, Thank you for kindly remembering an orc lady on the most important holiday of my kin. Please accept this bottle of Mulled Wine in return for your fine gift. As the saying goes in my mother's tongue, Murdigh Grogmesh! - Scheherazade" Avalanche receives the drink mentioned in the letter. Mulled Wine (Causes the inspired-effect, doubling the target's current and maximum health for the duration of one battle.) Dearest Jane, I have been smitten with you ever since you smashed in my face. Your impressive strength is surpassed only by your intense beauty. My apologies for leaving you so abruptly after our encounter but my companions and I had a task to complete. Do not fear, for I have been keeping your quarterstaff in fine condition. Know that it has been instrumental in defeating titans. I know not where you and your group are currently but still, a dainty women such as yourself should be outfitted in the finest footwear available. I had these custom made with you in mind so I hope they fit you comfortably and make you the envy of the rest of your Merry Band of Women. - En Sabah Nur, your suitor from Heroica Attached: Pink Pumps (+2 power, permanent transcended-effect; suitable to women; footwear) Another letter arrives to Nur. "Dear En Sabah Nur, I still remember the day of our encounter very vividly. Enough time has passed for me to have forgiven your insult, though, so I accept these lovely shoes as a token of your sincerity. However, I am married to my band of women, and it would be unbecoming of me to leave it for any man. I am still untouched by a man, and I have no intention to change that. Your admiration is still flattering, I cannot deny that, and in another life I might have considered responding to your advances, but alas, the rights of women will never improve if someone isn't willing to fight for them. Please do not return to the Eubric Forest to look for me, it would put me into a great shame. Sincerely, - Little Jane -" With the letter, Nur finds a dark red scarf. He could recognize the scent of the mountaneous female rogue from it, so it must have been worn by Little Jane herself. Mage’s Muffler (Protects from sealed-effect.) Dear Vipera, I hope this Grogmas season find you and yours in health and safety. May your numbers be replenished and your enemies diminished. Counterstrike Gloves -Hoke Ablesword "Dear Hoke, I thank you for the fine present, and hope you are doing well. I owe you my life for freeing me back in Haddon, after all, and for that I am ever grateful. My kin has grown in numbers, so perhaps the time of dragons will return to Dastan. I will send some of the scales I've shed as I've grown in size. I believe they can be used to improve your performance in battle. Yours faithfully, ~Vipera Callidus the Young" With the letter came three of Vipera's scales. 3x Dragon Scale (Grants lucky- and blessed-effects when consumed.)
Sandy Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Dear Mr. Legonardo, From what I understand Grogmas is a time of year to spend with Family. Sadly I have none, my past was lost to me a while ago and I am in the process of forging a new future. I know that you do not know me, but the reason I am writing to you is I am an automaton. I have heard that you have experience in the construction of such devices and I would very much like to meet you. Perhaps you might have some knowledge of where this body came from, and could help me set a course for my future by providing me with at least some part of my past. As it is Grogmas tradition to exchange gifts, I have included a Golden Handcannon (WP:9; lightning-elemental). Seeing as you have experience with technology, perhaps you might find some use for it. I would very much like to hear back from you, and I wish you a Merry Grogmas. Sincerely, Jeaux Much to his surprise, Jeaux receives a letter back from the man he has never met. "To Jeaux, Your story interests me a great deal, to say the least. All automata that I know of have been created in the Tritech Company's headquarters either here or in Xu, and we have made certain to keep a close eye on each one. Without seeing you, I cannot explain where you came from, but perhaps you are one of the early prototypes we created and disposed, yet you somehow sprung to life. I would love to hear more of your backgrounds, so you are welcome to visit me. Nowadays you are most likely to find me at the Ji Pei Palace due to the unfortunate circumstances that my benefactor has fallen. I, too, want to wish you a Merry Grogmas, so please accept this piece of technological wonder as my gift to you. Looking forward to meeting you, ~Vincent Legonardo" With the letter came a junky piece of armor that suited Jeaux perfectly. Automaton Armor (SP:2, immune to bleeding and confused; suitable to automata only; bodywear) Dear Anwyl, I am sorry for behaving rudely towards you on my last quest. When I get angry, I say things I don't mean. I would be pleased to visit your stall again next time I visit the Marketplace. I hope all is well and you have had no more thefts of weaponry. With this letter I include one Venom to give your weapons that extra sting and give you a better price for them. I would appreciate it if you gave me a gift in return- maybe one of your popular grating stones or a weapon of some sort. Oh, and say hi to the other merchants from me. I'm too busy to write five (or four- has Elphaba left yet?) letters- I'm on a quest in the Fieldsof Glory. Merry Grogmas! Avalanche A letter from the blacksmith comes back to Avalanche. "To Avalanche, I accept your apology. Just be aware that I keep close tabs on who goes through my store - apparently better than they do themselves, as you proved. You're of course always welcome to visit my smithy whenever you like. We dwarves always say, generosity should be answered with generosity. Just so it happens, I have a spare grating stone here that you can have. Merry Grogmas! Anwyl son of Hammar son of Forgin, aka. Smokebeard" Grating Stone (Increases WP of any weapon by 1.) "Bluto, It has been quite some time. I find myself again in a land foreign to me, and with another young'n at my side. This one's not a stow away, though. His name is Arx and he's a recently hatched little dragon. He's shier, but I think you'd like him and I think he'd warm up to ya. How is Baba trea I can't pretend to care about that hag. Bluto, I only hope you can forgive us for leaving you there. We, well, I really don't know if we had a choice. It is a decision that will haunt me forever. Abandoning you into that witch's arms--the thought of it disgusts me. We took you into our charge and damn it, we failed you. I can only hope that Baba hasn't been awful to you. I've included something that, with any ounce of luck, will free you from her grasp and take you to a safe haven on a farm not far from the port. With a short journey, it may allow you to return to your family before Baba's even realized what's happened. I don't know if it will work, but it's the best I can offer you for now and I can only hope that it works. Take care, boy, and don't let that witch corrupt you. With deepest regret, Thormanil Nihai" Unfortunately, Thormanil got his letter returned to him, along with the Teleportapple. If only it was so easy to contact Bluto Ziegfried... Dear Ayla How are you ? Is the bank still going well ? Sorry for the failure to kill the Death Progg in your vaults. Anyway, in the spirit of Grogmas, take this Death Progg Claw. You might be able to use it as a trophy of some kind. May the odds ever be in your favor ~Mizuki Mizuki's letter and the gift she included in it are returned to her. Ayla Commerz is nowhere to be found, either. Dear Umbra Do you remember me ? I was the one to offer you a drink at Dastan during the time Retraga was sick. Anyway, I was hoping that in the spirit of Grogmas, you might accept this Ruby Cutlass(WP 8) and a Gold RIng. Even though, you have a weapon already, this you might find useful one day. May the odds ever be in your favor. ~Mizuki Mizuki receives back a letter written in an eloquent handwriting. The Charisian accent is blatantly absent from the text, but there are some odd words and markings in it. "Dear Mizuki, I barely remember our réunion, but I am honneured that you have decided to remember me with such fine gifts. I do not know what I have done to receive such honneur, but there was this saying about a horse and a mouth in Eubric that was related to this situation, if I recall correctement. After arriving to this ville as a young girl, I have learned that one can never have too many weapons here, so I say merci to you, and wish to send a weapon in échange. Joyeux Grogmas! ~Umbra Shadeaux" With the letter, Mizuki receives a signature weapon of the Shadeaux family. Fleuret (WP:9; longsword) To Scheherazade, As another Grogmas comes upon us, I can't help but look back and reflect on all of the journeys and kindnesses this hall has bestowed upon me. It has in some ways helped to fill the hole my past life and family left. Whether or not you're able to celebrate with your own son this Grogmas, know that the impact you have had upon your Heroica "family" is appreciated more than you could know. Please take this gift for your dedication and as a token of the fondness for you from those of us who know that this hall could never function without you. May you never give your heart or affections to any against your will. ~Skrall the Ogre Skrall receives a letter in return through Z-mail. "Dearest Skrall, Your words are enough to melt the heart of even the most bitter, pessimistic and lovelorn orc lady, and bring her on the verge of tears. Heroica has been my family for decades now, even though the individual faces come and go. Two and a half years ago it looked like our organization was done for good, but then people started trickling in, and now we're bigger than ever. It of course means more work for me, but just between you and me - I don't really mind. I'm spending my days exactly like I want, and that freedom the most important thing to me. Soon, you will see, it will be the same for all of our kin. Murdigh Grogmesh, you big soft lump! ~Scheherazade" With the letter, Skrall receives three kinds of drink. Mead (Causes the encouraged-effect, doubling the target's attack power for the duration of one battle.) Smelling Salts (Causes the hastened-effect, allowing the target to act twice in one round for the duration of one battle.) Nostrum (Causes the lucky-effect, allowing the target to roll the battle die twice and get the better result of the two for the duration of one battle.) "Dear Bilbert Wigglepike, I'm a huge fan of your work, and as a former actress, your work has always been an inspiration to me! From one actor to another, can you give me some tips on how to be more convincing on stage? Maybe even some vocal tips for singing? I'm certain you get lots of mail from fans, perhaps gifts too, but I thought you might like something to drink for over the holidays. Included is a bottle of Mead and a bottle of Nostrum. There have been nights where I've wanted to unwind with a bottle of liquor after a show, and I think the feelings would be mutual. Break a leg, and have a Happy Holidays! Karie Alderflask" "Dear Karie, It is always heart-warming to receive fanmail. I read every letter sent to me, trust me, although ones popping out of thin air in front of me are a rarity. It is lovely to read that I and my humble insitution have been an institution to you. Instead of giving you tips, I would like to invite to you our auditions. We are about to begin the production of my newest play, Taming of the Succubus. It has it all: romance, suspense, exceedingly long death scenes - you'll love it! We were thinking of giving the leading role to Carly Swift, but we are still open to other options. Just between you and me, Miss Swift's star has been plummeting after she got caught with Fairy Dust up her nose. Poor girl... But I heartily thank you for the drinks you sent me, they will surely inspire me during those long nights of sitting in front of paper and quill! Let me give you a little something in return... Please wear it to the auditions. Hope to see you sooner than soon. Yours sincerely, Bilbert Wigglepike" Karie's jaw drops as she sees the flurry of silk and rhinestones that the playwright sent her. Glittering Dress (The user's job traits are replaced with those of a Harlot: Promiscuity, Flee and Money Maker; suitable to women only; bodywear) Dear Flavius How are you going ? Thank you for writing me the message from Retraga, In the spirit of Grogmas, take this Ambrosia and this Mead for yourself. May it protect you well in the days to come. May the odds ever be in your favor. ~Mizuki "To Mizuki, I am doing well, as are all Rito, thank you. I thank you for your gifts. Please accept these venoms in return, they should come to use for an assassin such as yourself. Greetings from Flavius of the Rito" 10 x Venom (Use on a weapon to make it cause the poisoned by 1-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle, making the poisoned enemy lose 1 health each turn. Several venoms can be used to increase the effect.) Dear Denarii. Hope you are going well. Is life hard in Dastan for the Rito ? In the spirit of Grogmas, please take this dagger(WP 10) and a potion. That dagger has served me well during my quests in Heroica. May it continue to be of good use in your hands. Anyway, may the odds ever be in your favor ~Mizuki "Dear Mizuki, I am going well, for there is nothing wrong with my wings, if that's what you were asking. Everything is well among us Rito, please come to visit us if you are concerned. Thank you for the gifts you sent to me and Flavius. I got to thinking that you might make good use of venoms, so here you go - I'm sending you a whole bunch. Sincerely, Denerii of the Rito" 10 x Venom (Use on a weapon to make it cause the poisoned by 1-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle, making the poisoned enemy lose 1 health each turn. Several venoms can be used to increase the effect.) To Lydia, I trust you have been faring well after the whole Iron Knuckle incident? I hope your recovery has gone well - the Grogmas season used to always lift my spirts for me while in presence of family and freinds, and I hope it is the same for you this year. Never give up hope on life - I've enlcosed a gift. It's a dragon scale, apparently from some mighty obsidian dragon slain by the heroes of Heroica. You seemed like someone very capable of doing good in this world: Hopefully this will inspire some valor. Merry Grogmas! -Sorrow "To Sorrow, After the events at the Resigore Prison, I've become a mercenary for hire. I was born to hold a sword, so what else was there for me to do. Unfortunately I still suffer the effects of the experiments done to me. I guess the performance-enhancing drugs help me in my new career, but this feeling of... inhumanity is something I can hardly bear. I must thank you for the gift, although you have already given me the greatest one of them all - my life. Your letter alone was a heartwarming surprise to me, as acts of kindness have been few and far in-between in my life recently. I don't have much to give back to you, but I do keep some bottles to keep me warm at night, so here's one to you. Forever in your debt, Lydia Corenell" With Lydia's letter came the promised drink. Ambrosia (Causes the reinforced-effect, double the target's defense for the duration of one battle.)
Sandy Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Dear Nemo Bonaparte Greetings, I was one of the people who saved your lives from the riot at the hovels outside the shrine of Fabula Sibylla. Please accept my gift of a fire bomb, holy bomb and pumpkin bomb. May they serve one of your men well. Merry Grogmas and may the odds ever be in your favor. ~Mizuki "To Mizuki, I, Admiral Bonaparte, the Warden of the Crystalline Ocean, send you my regards. It is not customary to celebrate orcish festivals at Fort Bonaparte, but as a token of my gratitude about the Hovel incident and a sign of good will, I thank you for the gifts you sent and wish you to receive this special bomb. Officially signed and sealed by ~Admiral Nemo Bonaparte" With the letter, Mizuki receives a large bomb. Neptune Bomb (Deals 100 water-elemental damage to all opponents when used.) Dear Claire Hey, Claire, it's Dyric. I'm sorry I couldn't be there with you during the Grogmas Holidays - you know how these things go. Details are a bit hush hush for the moment, but be sure that what I'm doing is vital for the area. I'm actually right near my old home, everything is so familiar here, in a way. I wish you could see it. I'll have to take you around here someday. Maybe one day you'll see Duplovia itself. How are you? It's barely been a week but it feels like forever since we've talked. I hope everything's going fine in the Inn, I'm still sorry for all the damage we caused down there. I hate to cut this short, but I should probably focus. I really do miss you, Claire. In my absence, I'll have to give this diamond in this letter. Merry Grogmas, I love you! ~Dyric your Hero "My beloved Dyric, I miss you as well. It's like I cannot focus properly if you're not here with me. I would love to go to Duplovia with you, or anywhere you would take me. I am getting sick and tired of this Inn and all the creepy customers in it. Please, I beg off you - come and whisk me away to your adventures! The diamond is gorgeous, I will always cherish it as a token of our love. I have nothing as valuable to give to you, but I will send you these drinks to keep you strong on the road, so you will one day return to me. With love, ~Your Claire" Dyric receives a selection of drinks from Claire. Mead (Causes the Encouraged-effect, doubling the target's attack power for the duration of one battle.) Nostrum (Causes the Lucky-effect, allowing the target to roll the battle die twice and get the better result of the two for the duration of one battle.) Smelling Salts (Causes the Hastened-effect, allowing the target to act twice in one round for the duration of one battle.) Soma (Causes the Blessed-effect, allowing the target to recover 3 health at the end of every round for the duration of one battle.) Mulled Wine (Causes the Inspired-effect, doubling the target's current and maximum health for the duration of one battle.) Gurnam the Sharkling- It's your old friend and potential business partner, Lord Lawrence Boomingham. We met a while back. I'm sure a clever Sharkling such as yourself would remember. I have a favor to ask, and should you repay it, I'll of course be in your debt. There are two men I'd like you to track down for me, both within Eubric. The first is named Natnail. He frequents pubs, you can find him. The second goes by J. Smith. I doubt it's a real name. Please find him as well. Tell me where they are, and tell them that Lord Lawrence Boomingham is coming for them. As a token of my appreciation and trust, here are two meads for the holiday. -Boomingham "Cheers, Boomingham! I looked into these fellows of yers, and I'm sorry to inform you that neither of them is in Eubric currently. The mercenary named Natnail is away on an escort mission in the Low Kingdoms, while the elusive businessman J. Smith has retreated to an unknown residence of his somewhere outside the city. Both are definitely alive, so no worries - ya can deliver yer message to 'em yerself. Thanks fer the mead, they sure do make the holiday merry and bright! Ye shouldn't go dry-mouthed, either. - Gurnam, yer Friendly Neighborhood Sharkling" Gurnam sends Boomingham two drinks in return. 2x Smelling Salts (Causes the Hastened-effect, allowing the target to act twice in one round for the duration of one battle.) Masson, I haven't forgotten who and what you are. -Lord Lawrence Boomingham Boomingham receives only a short letter back. "Boomingham, I do not expect anything less from you. Til our next encounter, -Masson" "Adressed to Captain Patricia, It's been a while. Probably good for both of us. Have one on me this Grogmas, Metasimian Ale, a rare and expensive drink. Heroica is not as bad as I thought. Written by Guts Holla, member of Heroica, Captain of the Wind Thief." "To Guts Holla, While I may not share your sentiments about the goodness of Heroica, I cannot deny that the organization's influence on this city and the surrounding areas is greater than that of the Town Watch, and so far you people have done a better job than us. But the tide is turning for the Watch as well, as I've put my men on a harder training routine than ever. My inflitrators are hard at work as well, rest assured. Sure enough, the crime rate in Eubric is at it's all time lowest. Aye, this holiday I just might grab the wine you sent me, give myself a pat in the back and tell myself that things are heading to the right direction. But I was born a pessimist, so I will not relax until I've been lowered into my grave. To the future, whatever it may bring! ~Patricia" The captain of the Town Watch sends Guts a bottle in return. Ambrosia (Causes the reinforced-effect, double the target's defense for the duration of one battle.)
Sandy Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 To Sofia 'The Cardinal' I found it strange how you left right when the quest was over and how you came across the knowledge of the whole ordeal in advance. I'm also confused at the fact of how you both seemed to have manpower which would've made heroes obsolete and tried to kill us after we finished our job. There seems to have been a higher purpose of yours behind it and I must say I am a tad interested. I would enjoy a chat sometime to clear it all up but in the meanwhile here's some poison that you could probably put to good use. Dreyrugr Enclosed is three venoms. "To Dreyrugr, The Order of the Crimson Crown works in mysterious ways. Frankly put, our followers are loyal but not very capable. Take my acolyte's feeble attempt at disposing you as a test, not as an insult. I have to politely decline your offer for a meet-up. I did not rise to be The Cardinal by blindly trusting people who are interested in me. If our paths are to cross again, then it is fate. It is amusing that you think I would need your venoms. Let me give you something the Order uses instead. ~The Cardinal" Dreyrugr got a special venom enclosed with the letter. Crimson Venom (Use on a weapon to make it cause the poisoned by 7- and cursed-effects on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle, making the poisoned enemy lose 7 health and 3 maximum health each turn. Several venoms can be used to increase the effect.) To Lyren Hinckwell + Nuitan Shadeaux Hey, how have you been? Are things working out between you guys? Anyways, Merry Grogmas! Anything in particular that you want? P.S. Nuitian, do you know any inventors nearby? - Alf Much to his surprise, Johon received two letters from the boys he had written two. "Hi Alf! Why did you send me and Nute the same letter? It's not like we live together or anything. We don't even hang out together anymore. ~Ly" "Greetings, Alf! Unfortunately I am not acquainted with Lyren anymore. We have our fathers to blame for that. What comes to your question, I only know of Mister Vincent Legonardo, but he works for the Ji Pei family. Sincerely yours, ~Nuitan Shadeaux" To the esteemed Cobra Priest Djuvali: My name is En Sabah Nur, a mage of Heroica who wishes to learn from your serpent gods. I know it is nearly impossible to train one through magical letters alone but any teachings you could provide on achieving poison immunity would satisfy my hunger for knowledge and increase my growing faith in the serpent gods. I do not know if you recognize the Grogmas holiday but it allows me to send an item along with my message. I am not familiar with all the poisons available but I am sure there are some that cause the petrification condition. Accept this artifact as I am sure your brotherhood could find a use for its magic. Sincerely, En Sabah Nur Attached: Snake Eye Charm (Petrification Immunity, Accessory ) "To En Sabah Nur, We at the Temple of Venomari in Addis Vipara specialize in all sort of poisons, and welcome new acolytes with open arms. Granted, few survive the initiation rites that must be passed beforehand, but you too are welcome to come and try. I am humbled by your great gift, for it is made of a carving from the bone of a basilisk. In exchange, I will give you one of the protective headdresses that us Cobra Priests wear. My only request is that you do not use it to pose as one of us - at least not until you have completed the training in our temple. Looking forward to your visit, Djuvali, Cobra Priest of the Temple of Venomari" Folded with the letter was a foreign headscarf with a pair of serpents printed on it. As soon as he put it on, Nur knew it was what he had asked for. Cobra Nemes (Absorbs poison, recovering health instead of taking damage from poisoning; suitable to clerics, mages, chi monks and necromancers; headwear) Dear Anwyl, Merry Grogmas! I hope that this holiday season sees you well. You've always been good to me and Blohdhurm, and I'd like to thank you for that. I don't know if this will be any use to you, but I have enclosed Mercutio's Dagger of Mugging (WP:5, Mug Ability +5). It's brought me some gold and fortune in my day, but I'd like to focus all my energy on Blohdhurm, my sword from home. I hope that the dagger will be of some use to you, my dwarven friend. -Jess Islanti "Merry Grogmas, Miss Islanti Your dagger is a true collector's gem. As the patron of merchants, Mercutio is my god alongside Mythra and Orrik. Please, have one of my grating stones in return, to hone your weapon of choice. Seasons Greetings, Anwyl son of Hammar son of Forgin, aka. Smokebeard" Jess received a grating stone with the letter. Grating Stone (Increases WP of any weapon by 1.) Dear Fabian, We haven't met in a good time, enjoy yourself over this period be sure to stock up on goods for my return. Here's a rather exotic gladiator's helmet that I picked up in a far-off land, I reckon it would look good lying on your shelf for customers to admire. Make yourself a nice profit in the honour of your favourite nord. Wishes, -Haldor "Dear Mr. Hunkadory! I shall put your precious gift for sale in my boutique, so that young aspiring warriors could be showered with your sweat and thus one day grow as fierce and valiant as you are. But you shall not be left empty-handed, either. Yours forever, Fabian Fancyweather, Proprietor of the Fantabulous Fashion Boutique" Haldor received an exclusive artefact from his admirer. Shamanic Plate (Max. Health +2, Max. Ether +2; Blood Ritual does double damage to the target; suitable to shamans only; bodywear)
Sandy Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 OoC: Once again, I'm terribly sorry for the delays with these letters. I hope to get rest of them done very soon! Still got 16 more to do after this batch... To Lady Calaryl, My lady, I write to you in this time to say that I have not forgotten my promise to redeem myself for the murder of Lord Belanith, and to send you a symbol of my promise, therefore I send you my Round Shield, and say once more that I will serve you unto my death. My life at your command, Throlar Wineghilm. "To Throlar Wineghilm, Your servitude is much appreciated. I have to say that it is unusual for a dwarf to feel such compassion to us elvenkind, but I am honoured nevertheless. If only the rest of our kindred in the world could find mutual understanding, but I fear that is too much to wish. Let me thank you for your token of promise with a gift of my own: a shield which magical properties extend it's defensive powers to all elves in the party with it's wielder, so it is suitable to a knight with a strong will to protect elves. It is attached with this letter. All the best to you in your endeavours! ~*Lady Calaryl of R'kilf*~" Elven Shield (SP:3; All elves in the party gain equal amount of SP as long as the wielder is standing.) Dear Scheherazade Thank you for servicing Heroica Hall for all these years. You must have seen a lot of drama and shenanigans in the hall performed by some of the other heroes. Anyway as a token of gratitude, please take this mulled wine. Maybe instead of serving drinks to others, you can take a short time off to drink something yourself. ~Mizuki "To Mizuki, Thanks for your letter. It warms my old heart as much as all the other letters I've gotten over the past few days. I see you are a drinker yourself, so here's a little something to hasten recovery on the day after. Murdigh Grogmesh! ~Scheherazade" With the letter came two vials of golden liquid. 2x Elixir (Restores 50 health and 10 ether to the target and removes all negative effects from the target.) Anwyl, Arx seems to have learned a nifty trick. In the heat of battle he'll grab onto my shoulders and start tryin' with all his little might to lift me up off the ground. Even getting just a foot or two off the floor can add that extra 'oomph' to an attack, can't wait to see how well it works as he gets stronger! In an effort to help him, I'm sending you this Wyvern's Tailblade. The thing's massive and I've got no idea how I'd swing that thing without both feet firmly planted in the ground. It's nothin' masterfully forged, but it's pretty unique: came straight off the rear end of this nasty wyvern I fought a while back. Sharp as heck, it's served me well but maybe you can find a better home for it, now. -Thormanil and Arx "To Thormanil (and Arx), Ah, a mighty weapon made of natural material. Always a sight for sore eyes! Please accept the items in the envelope as a thank you for the rare collector's item. Anwyl son of Hammar son of Forgin, aka. Smokebeard" Grating Stone (Increases WP of any weapon by 1.) Bright Polish (Inceases SP of any shield or armor by 1.) Dear Ella, What a surprise and a pleasure it was to learn you are in Eubric! Some friends and I were just discussing the Spirit Pools and peoples' connection to them, and your name came up. I'm sad to hear of your and the Oracle's troubles, however. I have no knowledge on how to deal with visions and prophecies, and had in fact considered sailing to Dastan to seek your and Vipera's counsel about my own nocturnal nightmares...though I am not entirely certain what reception I would have received anyway. At any rate, I know that as a child I found some small comfort in clinging to the artifacts of my ancestry when the night terrors grew too great, so with that in mind I am enclosing the Ancient Crown that once belonged to your great great uncle Emperor Brunt. If nothing else, perhaps it may remind you of home. --Arthur Justus Regulus VII P.S. It looks like Tarn just discovered your Quest pitch a few moments ago. If his smile gets any bigger there shall be no room for it in the hall, and the rest of us Heroes will be forced out onto the streets. Then again, some of us could probably use the fresh air... :P "Dear Arthur, I indeed sent out a request for aid, and I hope to see your name among those who sign-up as well. We have so much to catch up to... But better talk in person, would you not agree? I nevertheless thank you for the gift you sent me, I was not even aware that such a family heirloom had been discovered. It does help my homesickness in this foreign city. I know it cannot match the crown, but I have done some experimental baking during my time here at the shrine, so I want to send you one of my pies. I think it turned out okay... See you soon, friend. ~Ella Septrine" Ella's Pie (Permanently boosts max. ether by 5 but permanently decreases max. health by 5 when consumed.) Dear Skuld Merry Grogmas, hope you and Shaun are doing well. Living in the hovels must be hard. Anyway, in the spirit of Grogmas, have a phoenix essence. May the odds ever be in your favor. ~Mizuki. "Dear Mizuki! Thank you so much for the Grogmas gift, I have a bad premonition it might get in handy soon... Me and Shaun are doing swell so far. Did you know he got a job at the Alchemist's Guild? His boss is a vampire, imagine that! I got this bottle from him, but I think you can use it better. Merry Grogmas! Sküld Verdandi" Deadly Venom (Use on a weapon to make it cause the poisoned by 10-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle, making the poisoned enemy lose 10 health each turn. Several venoms can be used to increase the effect.) Dear Masson; To be brutally honest, you probably know nothing of me. My name is Vitus - better known as Sorrow, hero of Heroica. I'm probably the last living relative of Karie - essentially her great grandfather, in simplest terms. I'm also one of the ones who defeated Violetta during her final battle, as well as vouched for her execution. At the time, I didn't know the relation, or even Karie, for that matter. Before this devolves into the ramblings of an old man, I'll keep this brief: Long ago I had a chance to have family at arm's reach, and I royally screwed it up. I almost did it again this year, thanks to Ulric's corrupting influence on Violetta. So when I learned that Karie was dating the head of an organization, well... I hope you'll be able to forgive my skepticism, should we ever actually meet. Long story short: Thank you for not killing my granddaughter. After Ulric pulling Violetta's strings like that, I'm glad the last of my bloodline has found someone better. Family and friends mean a lot now, especially during this season, so it is good to see you make her happy. As a small gift, I have enclosed a Mead, bottles of Smelling Salts, and a Nostrum - perhaps it will help in the field. Merry Grogmas. -Vitus (Sorrow) "To Vitus, or Sorrow, or whatever your name is, I guess I have to thank you for letting me into your family, even though Karie has not mentioned you before this. I can't say this does not feel strange to me, but on the other hand, I have seen stranger things occur in my rather eventful life. I also thank you for the gifts, they will be put into good use. I am inclined to more aggressive methods, though, so please accept this Pumpkin Bomb in return. It should give an old man such as yourself a breather amidst any battle. Merry Grogmas to you, too. ~Masson" Pumpkin Bomb (Causes stunned-, poisoned-, asleep-, blinded-, sealed- and confused-effects to all opponents when used.)
Sandy Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 Dear Kukulkan Merry Grogmas. Hope that your task of freeing the orcs goes well. In the spirit of Grogmas, take 3 potions and a heavy shield (SP 5). Maybe you can find some use in them. May the odds ever be in your favor. ~Mizuki "Murdigh Grogmesh, Mizuki! My enslaved brethren have almost all been liberated in Eubric. I have acquired some powerful allies to help spread the awareness that we of the green skin are not responsible for the misdoings of our ancestors. In return for your fine gifts, I would like to give you this vial of strong venom and a shield native to my kin. I hope they help you in your endeavors. Kukulkan" Deadly Venom (Use on a weapon to make it cause the poisoned by 10-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle, making the poisoned enemy lose 10 health each turn. Thank you for teaching me the techniques of being an assassin. Recently they've helped me out a lot. Hope you have a good time celebrating Grogmas. Out of gratitude, I'd like to gift you this Deadly Venom, Remedy and a Health Core. Thank you for being such a great teacher and mentor to those of us in Heroica. May the odds ever be in your favor. ~Mizuki "To Mizuki, Thank you for your compliments, I only do what Lothoros Eldar did to me back in the day - trained me from zero to hero. Without Heroica, I'd still be conning people in the alleyways of the Hovels. So you should thank Heroica for making what you are. Here is something for you in return for your gifts. ~The Copper Fox" Foxtail (User is not affected by the target's positive effects; backwear) Dear Shaun Hope your'e having an alright time. Do you still see Skuld ? Anyway, Merry Grogmas, you can have this remedy and this bone. May the odds ever be in your favor. ~Mizuki "Dear Mizuki, Thank you for your letter. I cannot write myself, so I had this nice lady in the Guild called Victoria write this letter for me (Hi!). Sküld comes to visit me from time to time, but we are both busy with our jobs nowadays. I miss the nights when we played together at the House of the Dragon, just the two of us. Merry Grogmas to you too, here is a Neutralizer for you that I concocted myself. Hope it doesn't backfire. Shaun" Neutralizer (Removes all temporary effects from all allies and all opponents.) Dear Portia, I hope that this Grogmas sees you and your potion business in good health and spirits. I've bought many a health potion from you! Every one I've taken from you has been top quality, with a seemingly minty aftertaste! It takes a special person to put that much care into their work, and I'd like to thank you for that by sending you this Diamond of Thoric. It's no different than a regular diamond, but it has a cool name! Perhaps it'll be of more use to you than it has been to me. Best wishes to you this holiday! -Jess Islanti "Dear Jess, Yes, business has been good, but sometimes I wonder what else life has in store. I still think I'm young enough to find love, but hanging around with smelly alchemists in varying degrees of living every day tends to get one's hope in men down. To tell you the truth, the customers I get are not much better. Rich and handsome inheritors rarely find their way to my stall, unfortunately. Anyway, I hear Grogmas is the time to celebrate, so let us not dwell in my lack of lovelife any longer. Thank you for the wonderful diamond, maybe it will one day shine on my finger. Here is a special bomb for you in return. Joyous holidays, ~Portia" Baldur Bomb (Deals 100 light-elemental damage to all opponents when used.) Dear Jun Ji Pei, It has been a very long while, my friend, since we first met in the Pagoda with the 108 Stars in Xu. I must apologize again for our my failure to rescue you. If we had had any other option, we would have stayed with you. The enemies, however, were overwhelming, though I do regret not fighting to the death by your side. I have received word that Tesni, Tarn, and others rescued you from their lair beneath the mountains, and I am glad to that you are safe. Since then, I have been working closely with your family and associates on a number of quests. I have known Doctor Daneeka, who now works for the Great Guffington, for over a year now, and I value his knowledge and advice. I have recently saved another member of your family from the debacle in the Hovels, with an attempted coup taking the face of the Guild of Invision. Not to worry, we put a stop to them quickly while keeping a Tritech-crafted device from breaking along the way. I have attached a Copy of the Eubric Herald (consumable, gives transcended- and inspired-effects) so you can read about it. The technology of the Ji Pei is most impressive, and I have no guesses as to how they work. In fact, I am on a quest in Eubric right now delivering a top-secret device that mimics a Minstrel, from the Tritech Company to you. I have also made some new friends, and learned new skills. I have learned to dispatch my enemies more quickly than any I have seen in combat, but I still admire your balanced fighting style and mindset. I admit that I (there are several scribbled out words) envy this, and wish to someday learn from you and become even closer with the Ji Pei. And now I must tell you something Jun, something very important. This is a critical time for myself and my (more scribbled out words) people. I am not sure if you know, but there are others like me. I know it. And I believe that I know where they are hidden. If the powerful and advanced Ji Pei could help with finding them, using their influence and technology to aid me in this feat... the debt to be repaid would be immeasurable. We are more alike than you may think, Jun. The imps are a suppressed people, just as the Aoi are fighting threats from all sides. I have seen it both in Eubric and in Xu. If our people could somehow unite... our abilities would be unmatched. Think about this over Grogmas for me, Jun. As a last note, I hope you and your family are doing well. I have not heard of your mother, Lady Shanxian since I returned from Xu. Please send my regards as well. To the future, Hybros "To Hybros, My friend, I do not hold you or your companions responsible for what happened in the Pagoda of Nine Elements at all. It was my own blind rage that caught the better of me. The months I spent captive by the Stars of Destiny taught me to look beyond the surface. Even people you consider your sworn enemies have their own motivations behind their actions. I never forgive my former master Kai Tsi for butchering my brotherhood, but I have begun to understand why he did it. In Xu, I got used to the supremacy of the Aoi, but after living here in Eubric, it has become apparent that my kin are no better than any other race in this world. We should indeed work together to improve the world we live in. Look past the personal feuds and ambitions, and strive for peace, not make war. That is why I have given up my blades and become a diplomat like my mother. I have been handling relations between Xu and Eubric in my mother's stead, ever since the assassination attempt that left her crippled. She is slowly recovering and learning to walk again on legs of steel, which were another one of Monsignor Legonardo's invention. That man must have been heaven-sent, I tell you, for all the good he has done for me and my family. Now, onto the matter of finding your people. You have been a great help to our family, so it would be rude for me to turn down your plea for help. We should arrange a meeting between you and Monsignor Legonardo sometime soon, I am sure he can provide you with whatever equipment you need to find your kindred. However, referring to what I wrote before, you should perish the thought of the Aoi being surpressed. My people have brought the endless war on themselves with their tyrannical government. Your people would do well to keep away from Xu, lest they want to become puppets of my kin. I hope you realize that if this letter would somehow end in the hands of the Council of the Blue Hand, my head would be on the chopping block for treason. So please burn this when you have read it. I attached a little gift back to you, and I would like you to write back. To the future in peace, my friend ~Jun Ji Pei, Acting Ambassador of Xu in Eubric Freeport" Fenghuang Essence (After being consumed, automatically revives the target with full health once when knocked out; cannot revive targets that are already knocked out) Fabian, Finding myself in the company of Orcs again, and having just written another of these letter that opened up something of an old wound, some uncomfortable memories were stirred. I've got this pair of Fighter's Boots. They're not particularly heavy, but they're weighing on my conscience. I'm not quite sure what I was thinking when I turned on my employers and demanded 'em. I wish I could go back and redo those last few moments with Rogue and Ranger... They deserved better. A pair of boots. Can you believe it? I hope that I was somehow acting under the Archivist's--he was the big-bad-guy that time around, y'know how it goes--control, though I know I wasn't. Please take these boots and pass them along, but leave the history behind. If you can find a set of feet they'll fit, I'm sure they'll strengthen the owner's resolve, Rogue fought hard til we... Anyway, have a good Grogmas and expect a visit once I return from across the sea! -Thormanil "My hunky gigantic friend, I am sorry to hear your tragic story. It brought me to the verge of tears. I took the liberty of redesigning your boots for something more marketable, and I would like you to have the first pair. Merry Grogmas! I will be waiting for your visit. ~*Fabian Fancyfeather*~" Fighting Boots (Power +5 on the front row; suitable to barbarians, knights, rogues, beast warriors, chi monks, dragoons, harlots, infiltrators, marauders, skirmishers, regulators and winged warriors)
Sandy Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Dear Master Isaac Shawe, I hope that things in R'klif are going well. We never really got to speak after the warlord was defeated--I just wanted to let you know how much I admire your foresight in preparing a place for your House should worse come to worse. I only hope that Heroica will take heed and make similar preparations of its own. Regardless, I am proud to have helped House Shadeaux in strengthening its position in Uland, and hope I may aid you again soon. In the meantime, please allow me to offer you these Sticky Gloves--they have aided me greatly in earning Gold in the past, and I hope that they may aid you and House Shadeaux in doing the same. Humbly yours, Arthur Justus Regulus VII "To Mister Regulus, The situation in R'kilf has quieted down and life there has returned to it's usual steady pace. I have been reassigned to another mission by my lord, but I will not delve into more details in this letter, lest it gets into wrong hands. Heroica should indeed prepare for the worst, but your Veterans seem to be too busy putting out every fire in an attempt to be everyone's favourite heroes. The Shadeaux will support Heroica for as long as it is purposeful, but neither I nor the Count are optimists - we are survivors. My gift to you this Grogmas is something that will help you survive, as long as you remain loyal to the Count. May that never change. Sincerely yours, ~Sir Isaac Shawe" Shadeaux Cape (SP:1, suitable to those with reputation among the Shadeaux only; if reputation is great, SP is doubled; if reputation is outstanding, SP is tripled; backwear) To Hestia Bonaparte. My Lady. I wish you Quel Yenearsira, and pray that this letter finds you well with you and your husband finding some cheer this season. I had hoped in time to train with your guards as a cannoneer, but I now must walk a different path. I send you these Barbarian’s Boots (Restoration; footwear) and Grogmas Handcannon (WP:12 + the number of the round of battle) knowing that you will find better use for them than I. Particularly with the waters northwards becoming more dangerous. I remain, however, a stalwart ally of you and yours. Nerwen Calmcacil, Hero of Heroica, Ear'quessir of the Wind Thief. "Dear Nerwen, Thank you for your letter, and the fine gifts you sent with it. I shall send them to my daughter Attina to help her in the battles up north. Your loyalty is much appreciated in these dire times when Fort Bonaparte is rapidly losing it's purpose and reputation as the guardian of the surrounding seas. If I may confide in you, I have tried everything in my power to snap my husband out of his melancholy, but so far without success. I do have one ace up my sleeve, though, for I have summoned Nemo's uncle Obero "Blackgull" Bonaparte to return to Eubric from his retirement on the Eversummer Islands. Maybe seeing him will remind Nemo of his duty towards his family. In return for your faithful service, I wish for you to have this medal to speed you forward on your chosen path. It is one of very few ever made. Yours truly, ~Hestia Bonaparte" Medal of Valor (This pendant is awarded by the Bonapartes to those who show their heroism in the battle against piracy. The wearer gains double experience from battles.) 'Dear' Valentine Zeigfried, I want to know one thing: why? From the moment I first met you, you've brought me nothing but ill fortune. When the truth about you and my father came out, you shattered his standing amongst our community, and so when he vanished my family struggled to recover. When you reappeared with the V-mail system--which, let me remind you, you stole from my father--it heralded a downturn in my battle and my journey as a Hero, and the start of my journey back into darkness. In last year's Lottery, you sent me a worthless prize, this year none at all, and the gifts you sent out last Grogmas marked the beginning of the end for us all. Now this? Why do you insist on tormenting me? Is it not bad enough that you stole my father's work for your own gain, without appearing at the worst times of my life to rub in how alone and rejected I am? So tell me: why did you find it necessary to barge into my life? And why do you keep showing up, in spite of the pain you know it brings? I look forward to an honest and thorough response. --Arthur Justus Regulus VII "Dear Arthur, Poor son of mine, I never wanted you to suffer - that is exactly why I had to give you away. It was not my intention to let you know the truth about me, either, but that cannot be helped. Gods have a tendency to play nasty tricks on us, they must get a laugh out of this. But I want to make one thing absolutely clear: I did not steal anything from your father, least of all the Z-Mail encryption. Despite what your father may have told you, this system was invented and developed by me. Your father merely assisted me in the process. It hurts me that your father, the cowardly fool, has lied about me to you in such a way. I can never be a true mother to you, nothing can take back the years that have passed since I left you, but I would love to get to know you as a friend. Please, won't you join me and Noel for a supper at our house some time? You can find it at Number 14, Heron Street. Besides that invitation, I want you to have something. It is customary in the Ziegfried family to give a pointed mage's hat to each family member when they come of age. You never got yours, so I went and bought one for you. Sandy Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Dear Warlock Hoples, It was a pleasure working with you and with the Town Watch. At least there is someone trying to do some good in this wretched place! I also couldn't help but notice that you didn't have a pair of Shackles with you, so here, have my Shackles of War. They should serve you well in apprehending any troublemakers in the area. I just wish that someday I will feel free to retire from my difficult life of trying to change the world and be able to live a peaceful life in a place such as yours. Unfortunately, as we live above ground, we see so much evil and there is no way that I can, in all good conscience turn my back on the world and let it slip on in its abysmal state, so I'm forced to keep plugging on and doing what I can to make this world a better place for all. I still worry for your establishment. I pray to God that no evil will befall you, but I still think it's only a matter of time before the enemy seek to destroy your peaceful city, so here, take this Teleportapple. It should enable you to transport yourself out of harm's way should you ever need it. I'm not sure how it works or how many people it can transport, but let it be a last resort should you need it. I wish you well and hope to visit you again someday! --Monk Pretzel "To Monk Pretzel, We of Zylstra thank you for all you have done for us. You have certainly helped to build a bridge between us gnomes and you humans. However, I fear that there is trouble a-brewing once again, so we have to ask for more of your help soon. I have high confidence that Heroica will be up for the task. I thank you for your valuable gift, but I would never leave any of my people behind. If the sky should begin to fall upon us, I would be the last gnome remaining to see that everyone were safe. Never mind that, here is a local delicacy for you in return. May we meet again soon, friend of the gnomes. ~Baron of Zylstra" Bunch of Cherries (A bunch of 10 cherries that each restore 1 ether when eaten; it is up to the user to choose how many they eat at a time.) Dear Elphaba, Thank you for supplying Heroica with your magical wares. Your visits are of great importance to those of us in Heroica. I believe that a lot of us have benefited from the goods you sell to us and by extension of that, the people who employ Heroica. Anyone Merry Grogmas, please take this Explosive Handcannon(WP 8/16 against rock monsters.) I don't know whether you'll need it in the future but you can always pawn it off for some extra gold or trade for some materials or items you might desire. May the odds ever be in your favor ~Mizuki "Dear Mizuki, I thank you for your compliments, but I have no plans of visiting Eubric Freeport anytime soon. There are forces in work there that I would rather not face. Many witches have fallen prey to the one calling herself Baba. Whoever she is, she is no true member of our coven, I assure you that. We witches are like sisters, and sisters do not rob powers from each other. In fact, I am taking a break from travelling to look after my mother and brother at the moment. If the situation over there ever clears up, you might see my wagon rolling to the Marketplace once more. Thank you for your gift, it will make a fine toy for my brother. Here are a couple of wands from my stock, two of the few remaining that my brother has not broken in half. That's my Jolly for you... Elphaba" Scaridy Wand - WP:6; causes afraid-effect. Costs 90 gold. Wand of Wrath - WP:6; causes enraged-effect. Costs 90 gold. Ellaria- Where have you been? It finally occurred to me why the hell I ending up facefirst in the ground in this hellhole of a desert; nobody in this party can heal worth a damn, save for some idiot djinn. Where'd you end up after the four of us kicked megablocks in that theatre? Run into Boomingham much? Now that I think about it, probably best I'm over here and he's back in Eubric, we've got nothing to do but talk in this sand bowl, if I had to listen to one more war story I'd've swallowed my last venom. If there's anyone I'd rather have than this damn ape, it'd be a healer. Maybe I could stay on two feet long enough to hit something. On a slightly related note, are you sure that rag Russel gave me actually works? Or is this desert actually that deserted? Ah, whatever. From where I stand, it looks like the only animals worth talking to are the ones that can use a sword. Why the hell isn't every crab and frog a rogue or a paladin? Actually, no, bad idea. I don't think humans would last very long against the oceans of sea life in the world. It feels like months since I've seen a drop of water outside of this damn canteen, but I don't think it's been more than a day. Demons screwing up perceptions of stuff, probably. You know, I've got two demons around with me constantly, and it feels like ever since I got here a third has been staring at me, yet I can't stand the damn things. Namyrra's still dragging around her undead, too, which would be just as bad if they weren't on our side. Still don't like them. People like this ape give demons much more attention than they deserve. Does it take that damn much willpower just to outright hate the things? If there's anyone I can trust on that it's you and Boomingham - Nyx is a good friend but warps the very souls of her humans victims beyond repair a little too often for my liking. Not that they don't (usually) have it coming, but frying them like fish seems more wholesome. In a way. Smells worse, though. Here's a Soma. It's supposed to have some sort of religious meaning or something, I think. Hell if I know. Wine tastes better, and keeps me alive longer to boot. Maybe you'll get more use out of it. Hope we'll get a chance to quest together again at some point (Strivvi comes to mind, all four of us have business to finish there), maybe with you there I'll be able to soak up some hits without getting flattened by a bunch of damn vermin. Worked in that rathole of a theatre. - A.G Months after receiving the letter, Ellaria lied awake at the safehouse in Strivvi, her companions snoring and wheezing around her. She took out the letter from between the pages of her notebook where she had folded it, and read it again. She had intended to respond to Atramor many times, but every time she had lifted a pen to write him back, something had stopped her. It's not that she did not care. On the contrary. Ellaria turned to look at the roguish man sleeping close to her. Atramor was handsome in a rough way, and always daring and dashing. He had stood by her side on many quests now, and she could call him a friend. But she wanted to call him more than just that. She hoped she had not offended Atramor by not replying. He had politely not mentioned the letter even once during this second trip to Strivvi, and she had tried to keep her distance from him, calling him "Mr Gibbin" and all that. But right from the beginning, he had offered her his valuable scroll and rooted for her to become the leader of the party for the quest, and done numerous other little gestures. He must care for her, too, or else he would not have taken the effort to write to her from the middle of a scorching desert. But after losing her child, how could she ever dare to accept love into her life again? Her life was dangerous, and so was his. It did not console her that neither of them could really die from wounds whie being in service of Heroica, for there were countless other ways of losing someone besides death. Her heart was already shattered, it could not tolerate anymore pain. Ellaria tucked the letter back to its place. She would keep it and cherish it, and Atramor's friendship, but there could never be more than that. She was too much of a coward. She would have to find a way to return the Soma back to him, though. A tear rolled down her cheek as she finally fell asleep. OoC: After almost half a year of delays, that's a wrap!
