Found the instructions, CopMike, if you reference that from now on, could you be kind enough to provide a link?

And possibly I think you misunderstood Vee's humor for a threat? Vee was not really serious there. Isn't this site supposed to be a bit fun as well as informative and a place for discussion?

Does anyone know if you build it from the instructions, is it possible to order a Marina Bay Sands nameplate somewhere or will you just have to have it black with no name? Thanks

I actually quite enjoyed this set, and viewing the building during my brief stay in Singapore. I spotted the set by chance at Legoland in Malaysia, just last Tuesday. There was a full shelf of them, going for 300 Ringgit each. Happy to be one of the probably few Canadians with this set.

Just got mine in the mail :D I have family in Singapore. They sent it over I just paid cost + shipping. Make that 2 people in Canada with this set

Actually, I'm threatening to not buy any more architecture sets because of TLGs distribution policy on 21021. Of course, that threat is already gone because I bought 21021 through a third part seller at a high mark up.

And, I will buy as much lego through Amazon.com as possible. If TLG wants to increase my costs by making sets like 21021 available to me only though third party sellers, well then part of their profits on other sets can go to Amazon. The mall that's two miles from my house has a lego store. I'll be at the mall with my wife on January 1. I'll make sure I order what I can on my mobile device from Amazon while sitting in the mall.

No threat not to buy any more lego. Just a promise to buy it from a third party, which TLG clearly prefers given its distribution system on 21021. Btw, I won't miss the VIP points.

Sorry, I thought that was common knowledge. I´ll link better next time.

Dude  !

But everyone is entitled to their own way of living. (How about a thread in the Embassy?)

Not really 'wacko', just exercising my power as a consumer. Btw, started a new thread where you suggested.....in Embassy.

I like thinking that Lego is an evil company, that makes me less likely to buy their expensive toys that drains my wallet.

@CopMike: Whoa, so that is a threat? My English sucks, I never realized I was threatening TLC.

You weren't, and neither am I (really). I'm just saying that if Lego creates a situation where a product is only available to me through third parties, I'll use third parties like Amazon exclusively.

Vee, you're cool... :-)

US$219 for 600 small pieces? Holy Moley! Hopefully it will prove to be a good investment.

It's not an investment. It's a discretionary spending of money for pure enjoyment. There are entire political campaigns in America devoted to condemning people like me.

Happy new year, Vee!

Nah, they are just jealous... Thanks and Happy New Year to you too, OTW, may Lego bring you enjoyment for many years to come. :classic:

Wow! That was fast shipping, indeed. I ordered mine a day before you, and it's still sitting at the San Francisco airport somewhere, and hasn't even hit customs, let alone the post office.

Just picked it up at the post office.

Seeing the stoopid prices on eBay, I almost want to hold on to it, but I'm a builder, not a seller.

The 1x4 plate, loose in the box, is a little odd.

And I'm done.

I actually like it a lot.

The actual building has barely any straight lines and is enormous. Reproducing it at this scale was probably quite challenging.

I actually like the back of it better than the front, as the curves are more readily apparent there. (Plus then you aren't staring at the huge glass curtain walls that dominate that front side.)

It's definitely more wobbly than I care for, but that's a result of only being connected to the base with two posts.

I happen to love the trans-blue color, so that's a plus for me to use a lot of it.

During the construction I noticed a couple places where they could have used a more common piece to do something, but instead used an additional number of a piece already in the set. An example: Twelve white 1x1 bricks with a (technic) hole are used to connect the three towers to the hinge plates, but up on the cantilever, there was one opportunity to use a standard 1x1 solid brick, but they just used an additional of the holed piece instead of having an additional item on the parts list.

I'm obviously a bit of an architecture nerd as well as an AFOL, so me giving it a 4.5 out of 5 shouldn't surprise. (I just wish it was a bit more solid on the base.)

I don't know how long it will last, but I got an e-mail from Marina Bay Sands' retail manager today, and this set is back in stock, for 115SGD plus shipping.

Move fast if you're interested. They reply to e-mail request in about a day.

Have you got a direct email address for this as I just tried the general line and got this reply:

Dear Mr. Fairs,

Greetings from Marina Bay Sands!

Thank you for your email. With regards to your query, we do regret to inform you that we have stopped selling the Marina Bay Sands Lego set as this is a limited edition.

Thank you for your interest and have a pleasant day!

Best Regards,

Stephie Tang

They probably decided to stop selling to outsiders because it would deplete their stock in a few hours... They want to have it for their local customers, which makes sense.

Actually, the local customers are the ones responsible for depleting the stock. There are plenty of flippers who camped out and stocked up on these sets. It's out of stock at the hotel now with no further stock expected...

hi

i was wondering if it’s probably the best possibility for me is to buy limited series, for instance ( ebay http://www.ebay.com/sch/matijasp/m.html?item=271405325592&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 )series which is only sold in Asia, 10 000 pieces look really like small number, if i wait a year or two will price really increase and it can be much easier to sell from europe ?

last but not least i was wondering if the price of this pack would go up in far future if i decide to buy 2 boxes for my grandchild so he can sell when he is bigger

thanks

I feel it will only go up in price.

Set 21100 was japan only and 10,000 sets made. Summer 2012 it used to go for $100-150. Now it's near $300.

Given Marina Bay Sands is of an actual building. It would never lose it's appeal.

That's my opinion though.

Good thing I have two on the way from the hotel then, yes?

:)

Herky's spoken for one already.

Mine has just been delivered, excellent service from the hotel - didn't even charge me any delivery so was only SG$ 89!

I now have every piece of Lego Architecture, can relax until a new one comes out now!

Seriously? I must have paid your shipping plus mine. $SGD 64, just for shipping, and I paid more than that per set, too.

Sounds like the hotel staff is engaging in some shady reselling activity, too. I've got MBS return labels and paperwork in my package, but paid a completely different price!

I don't really know how mine worked, I had to fill in a form which a guest would normally to start an account and sent a copy of my Credit Card so was all a bit dodgy - for the amount I wrote SG$89 plus postage so they probably couldn't find an easy way to change the figure so didn't bother.

Fortunately that credit card was expiring at end of Feb so I just cancelled it once payment had been taken so nothing further could happen as was worried about sending those details via e-mail - total cost was £42.85 so pretty happy with that!
