I've got 3 or 4 projects in mind... I've planned one in LDD already, am busy on another, and the other two are flights of fancy. I need to buy the pieces to put them together! That should be my resolution: spend more on LEGO. The only thing I bought last year was the 7965.

I I'd my plans for the previous year went well. I may have not built much, but I did progressively less and less since 2011. 2014 will hopefully continue that trend, though I don't have any plans on building specific MOCs... yet, but it's still really early. My biggest plan this year (next week), is to relocate my entire collection to a larger room/storage closet at my work across from my apartment. Maybe build a work table for MOCcing :classic:

I plan to brickbuild some of my LDD designs, starting by the Whitefang (not the Global Moderator!) in the next few month.

But I won't have a lot of money to spent, so I'll have to make choices... I'll probably won't buy any boxes and use bricklink...

As close to goals as I can get:

* Figure out how to managebly organize my growing LEGO set and loose bricks collections -- without taking over the entire house.

* Get into the Modulars series

* Build more MOCs

** Build season-appropriate "mini-displays" on the shelf my wife has reserved for me in our living room

** Update and cycle the models on display on the shelves in my office

* Get involved in a LUG (any Northern New Jersey LUGs? PM me!)

* Go to at least one fan-of-LEGO convention

And of course ... not go broke buying LEGOs ...

I really want to try and buy less and MOC more with what I've got. But those shiny new boxes in the yellow section of TRU are always too tempting!

I promise I will try harder... :-p

Cheers

ultimately: build more

- start my town layout

- buy only what i need based on the town layout, instead of sets

- find the bargain of the year

Build up my collection of bricks so I can start properly MOCing.

Make a character and join a Historica Guild.

*More figbarfs (It's a phrase for whipping up some random minifigs)

*Sorting my LEGO (I've tried 5 too many times and have failed)

*Build something for Brickcon 2014

*Save up for some Modular sets... (I really want one after seeing the Cafe  )

*Join more EB contests

*Make some MOCs (Including some MOCs from my new found love, Doctor Who)

My only current plan is to finish the 42006 excavator to which I'm currently in the process of buying the missing parts.

My overall plan is to build more

My plan is to buy more from S@H/Brand store and less from Target/TRU. So much missed VIP point chances.

That happened to me with Fire Brigade. I was waiting for the "opportune moment" to buy it but it became "sold out" at S@H before I could act. I had to buy it from Target online, the only store that still had it at retail price. Lost 5% of it then.

And it can happen again because I have Town Hall, Palace Cinema and Parisian Restaurant still to buy but I am waiting for the "opportune moment"... Of course only Town Hall is at risk, IMO.

I hate the way Lego deals with its inventory. You never know when a set will be retired, you never know if there will be a promotion, when there is a promotion usually items vanish from S@H very quickly (as if they put them in promotion but there were really just a few of them in stock to be sold at that promotional price...), even the "Retiring Soon" label does not help because some items become sold out with never showing "Retiring Soon", it is really a mess and a gamble. Lego sucks, too bad I like their toys and will continue buying them, for now...

My 2014 plans are:

1. Limit my budget and save money

2. Buy only LEGO Movie CMF then I stopped when Simpsons CMF series released

This is a great thread. I'll join in. In 2014, I plan to:

1) Start building MOCs. I've been accumulating LEGO long enough, and building the sets. Time to get creative!

2) Build MOCs for a LUG display. I've helped out at several MichLUG events, but have not contributed content yet.

3) Enjoy the LEGO I have. As my wife likes to point out, I seem to like accumulating LEGO. Time to start playing with it, too! I will buy sets here and there, and anything I find on clearance.

4) Rededicate my alegoaday.com website. Somewhere along the way, I lost my direction. I need to find it again, and get back to blogging.

My plans:

1 - finish my MOC trains

2 - finish some MODs on several technic flagships and City cars I have

3 - buy the Parisian Restaurant, Technic Cargo Plane, Technic flagship... and maybe The Simpson house, UCS Slave 1 and - if it's true - the Mini Cooper.

4 - ahhhh... Yes; I was forgetting this too: control my LEGO spends and save some money...

After 2 huge personal losses in 2013, I plan on drowning my sorrows in sorting parts. Also getting the new train(s), Parisian restaurant, and the triple e

While in the midst of tidy up my lego boxes and polybags...I noticed that

i have these as 2013 season scene:

40052 - Spring Time scene

40054 - Summer Scene

40057 - Fall Scene

In between there were valentine, Halloween, thanksgiving...But, what about Winter scene?

Any clue? Some said it's 40082 or 40083... but these are box set. Or is there NO winter scene polybag?

I'm going to try to finish bricklinking a couple old classic (and expensive) sets. The more I look at the prices, shipping and fees though, the more I wonder if it's not better to just buy the complete set.

But the fun is in the journey to a completed set sometimes!

Just a quick update :

Finished my first project, posting this later this week .

Sorting is stll a problem  I finished with more sorting than I planned to... I found that sweeping into little bins doesn't work when you're working on a project :cry_sad: . Now I have too search trough a lot more wreckage !!

My 2014 plan? I have to get a job. This is kinda shameful, but my greatest motivation to get a job (which I've been meaning to do for a while now - my kid's finally in school, no excuses!) is so I can buy more Lego! We've also been creating a Lego room out of our guest bedroom, but that might be turning into a nursery (eek!) so I guess the next plan is to childproof all the little bricks?!

One online project I'd like to work on is to make a site for parents of KFOLs, or AFOLs who happen to be parents as well (I call 'em PFOLs!). Which would be a neat place to get together non-judgmentally, and help parents new to Lego travel the windy path of video VS blog reviews, work out what 'value' is in Lego and generally ease their worries. Fun!

As January's winding down here's my current set of objectives:

  • Cut back on the BL orders.
  • Motorize the Unimog.
  • MOD the Palace Cinema into something suitable for my economically depressed skeevy Lego town.
  • Finally get around to taking pictures of aforesaid economically depressed skeevy Lego town.
  • Continue to have fun with Lego

  • 3 weeks later...

 Update time !!!

Finaly found a way to sort trough my collection, so I hope that by summers end the end will be in sight. A BIG relieve on my end that I could find some volunteers for sorting my stuff.

Found another project along the way... building trees for my diorama... what fun !!!

Start/Finish a few MOC projects I have in mind/started.

And I guess I'll have fun messing around like always, re-sorting my parts and building some technic vehicules to go out outside piloting them :)
