Posted December 26, 201311 yr Does you toy store has any legos? And does it miss some themes? Post a picture of your favorite lego theme in your toy store The store where i look for lego is really expensive and bad. They never have lego superheroes (my favorite theme). And lego minifigs arent there aswell (only series 11). Its a bad store :( thats why i travel to another town. There is a store that only includes lego and another toy theme.
December 27, 201311 yr I'm lucky where I am as there is a good choice of shops selling LEGO so I don't struggle for choice of themes. Big department store, supermarket, toy shop and catalogue shop in the local town centre (about a mile from home) which between them have pretty much everything and often have offers on. Nearest big retail park (about 6 miles) has a TRU and the same catalogue shop again. In addition, there are four LEGO Stores within an hour's drive. The nearest is about 20 mins away. Cheers Rog
December 27, 201311 yr My town kinda sucks too. I have a store very close to where I live that sells a ton of Lego, including all modern themes (and lots of them) but prices are like 3-4x what they should be
December 27, 201311 yr I live in the Washington DC Metro area so there are plenty of options around but since prices for Lego products seem to be, how can I say, "enforced", it doesn't matter much where you buy them so I buy almost always from the official Lego shop online, if it is a current set, to get the 5% off (VIP rewards). Amazon sometimes runs some nice promotions.
December 27, 201311 yr I admit that i circle around town now and then when i have a lot of money on my LEGO budget. I know which stores usually have no clue how to price LEGO and now and then i get last years sets for below half the price. Then i have these few stores that usually dont have any discount, but have the new sets and specials quite close to release date. As a third, i offcourse go to the copenhagen LEGO store visiting the PAB wall, to expand my collection of bricks for my MOC´s. Overall, we have LEGO everywhere i go in Copenhagen. So im sattisfied
December 27, 201311 yr I have 4 Lego stores within less than an hour from me, also a TRU and like 4 targets. For CMFs I only go to the Lego store because it's so hit or miss at the other stores. I Nearest big retail park (about 6 miles) has a TRU and the same catalogue shop again. I've never heard of a catalogue shop before, what is that? Maybe I'm on the wrong side of the pond
December 28, 201311 yr Wher I live, there is a lego store, a toysrus, two targets, a walmart, a kmart, a some goodwills!
December 29, 201311 yr the price are also riddiculous here. and they don't have all lego exclusive like UCS and modulars. they also don't have architecture.
December 30, 201311 yr There's nothing even remotely close to where I live in central Pennsylvania. The Internet is basically my store for everything.
December 31, 201311 yr I've never heard of a catalogue shop before, what is that? Maybe I'm on the wrong side of the pond It's a shop where you order online or in store from a catalogue, then your order is prepared and you collect from a collection point in store a few minutes later. Here's what they look like: Cheers Rog Edited December 31, 201311 yr by rriggs
January 10, 201411 yr Ive got a few around me. Theres a true LEGO shop in one of the big shopping centers about 20 miles from me , there are a couple of toys r us near me , and smyths toy shops , so im a bit spoilt for it really!
January 10, 201411 yr I'm about a million miles (not literally) from an official Lego store, it takes an hour to get to the nearest Toys'R'us, and any place that sells Lego usually has a £5-£10 mark up (Entertainer and WHS), with the exception of Argos (who are always out of stock) and any Supermarkets. The nearest Tesco and Sainsbury's usually have a terrible selection (A couple of sets at full price, mostly stuff I've got or I've got no interest in). However, there is a few redeeming factors in all this. My local area (5-10 miles ish) has about 40 Charity Shops, my local Comic book store carries a full selection of Licenced sets (Superheroes, Minecraft, TMNT, Star Wars, LOTR, Hobbit), Smyths opened a Mega store about 3 miles away a few years ago, Tesco did a similar thing with a Mega store a few miles away, and I'm about 5 miles away from a huge Asda super store. Most places stock CMF's, so I guess that's a plus. When I go on holiday however, there's a fantastic Lego outlet, officially licenced etc. I think there called "Bricks And Mortar" shops. That's where I get my parts, baseplates, and Minifigures from, at a good price as well.
January 10, 201411 yr I'm in a pretty sweet spot -- all you folks living far from LEGO or outlet stores, I feel for you! On the East Coast USA, just about the only thing anyone does is shop, and malls are huge here -- so i'm within 45 minutes of three big malls, four LEGO stores (five if I expand to 1 1/2 hours) and countless Walmarts, TRUs, Targets, and the like. The hardest thing in this area is to NOT spend all my money on LEGO. As for pricing, it's hit or miss. Walmart periodically discounts sets, and sometimes puts runouts in their "clearance" isle for half or more off (I've gotta a few expensive kits on the cheap that way). Target and Walmart carry very different types of kits in store, usually, so that makes it interesting to visit both. TRU, while having a great selection in my area, of course suffers from the 20%+ markup they put on all their toys. With so many LEGO stores in my area selling at RRP, it just doesn't make sense for me to buy from TRU, unless it's a kit exclusive to that store (which has happened from time to time). It's a LEGO world, I just play in it.
January 10, 201411 yr I thought it was just me with the Argos thing , i found they never have any in stock either. When i went to Smyths yesterday they were having a restock , there were trolleys full of Starwars , and Technic.........it was a sight to behold! Edited January 10, 201411 yr by Gunpowder
January 10, 201411 yr Never had any problem with Argos myself. They never seem to have any of the LEGO that's on offer left but normal prices sets have always been in store when I want them. Cheers Rog
January 10, 201411 yr Normally Argos are fine. However, many an instance they have sold out of stuff, usually around summer and winter, with Christmas obviously. In 2010, I went in to the one in Birmingham city centre with a list of 11 sets, different theme's, different price points (I still have the list), and all where sold out. Normally the one in Birmingham is more likely to not have you want or have a problem with your order, whereas the one in Sutton Colfield I've never had a problem with. I guess it's as the saying goes, your mileage may vary.
January 10, 201411 yr There are no family run Toy stores near me, only major retailers. I have a TRU about 15 minutes from me, and a Target-Kmart-TRU-Ross shopping center about half an hour of where I live. The closest Lego store is presumably 1 hour (or more, definitely no less) from me. This is why I'm a Lego store virgin. The TRU 2 blocks from me has nothing, seriously. The only thing they've ever come in handy for is CMF's they have a full stock of Series 9, isn't that retired already? I'm a sucker for retired set/series so obviously they're a big hit for me. Also, the TRU 15 minutes from me always has a large selection, but as you all may know, that also includes a large price markup. Target is good for somethings, they occasionally have retired sets, I once spotted a Series 6 bag in 2013, exciting huh? It was one I was looking for too, the Leprechaun. Too bad some idiot opened up the bag as it was ripped when I found it. But TRU seems to make a lot of money from me as I have no local Lego store, and have to resort to paying inflated prices for my sets. I was tell myself - You could've bought another small set with that 10 dollar price up!

January 11, 201411 yr I wish there was a lego store in The Netherlands Where are you situated? Maybe The Netherlands has something better to offer: go search for the stores like Brickfever and Atembo. One has good prices, the other is offering just as much as an official Lego store. Both have several shops. So I've heard... Never been there yet, but I have high hopes.
January 11, 201411 yr Do you not reserve? Cheers Rog A few times, but it's hit and miss. Sometimes they don't have the stock they say they have, they see me a million miles away due to the amount of times I've complained. Still, I'll be fair, they have improved recently. The worst is Tesco. Your lucky if you get served the day you arrive at a particular one near me.
