Hrw-Amen Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I have been reading some comments on here about Fabuland builds and have looked at some of the pictures of MOCs people have made. I am trying to get an accurate picture of the concept but have a few unanswered questions. I have also been looking through the stores of my favoured Bricklink sellers but it is still unclear to me. So:- 1: The Fabuland figures appear to be dirt cheap on Bricklink, roughly around £1.00 to £1.50 mark. Are they closer in size to Minifigures or to Duplo figures? 2: There are a lot o Fabuland elements that are for sale that look interesting, I am looking at some green roof sections. Are these compatible with standard LEGO elements or Duplo or neither or both? 3: Do the characters in Fabuland have names. In several MOCS the characters are called by name. Is that just because the person made the MOC called them that for the particular build or did they have those names when they were released, as Bricklink tends to say things along the lines of Mouse 1 or Cow 2 and so on? 4: The articulation on the figures, I assume by the looks of them that they have a similar range of movements to the normal mini-figure or are they in some way different? Thank you for your help. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) 1: This shall help you. 3: According to Brickset, they do have names. http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Fabuland Others I don't know. Edited December 27, 2013 by TheLazyChicken Quote
Rick Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 1: The Fabuland figures appear to be dirt cheap on Bricklink, roughly around £1.00 to £1.50 mark. Are they closer in size to Minifigures or to Duplo figures? Here's a picture showing both. It's from Hinckley's The Forest Mafia game. ]2: There are a lot o Fabuland elements that are for sale that look interesting, I am looking at some green roof sections. Are these compatible with standard LEGO elements or Duplo or neither or both? The Fabuland roof support, which is part of the complete roof assemblies has a 2 x 6 base, so it's fits on both System and Duplo pieces. 3: Do the characters in Fabuland have names. In several MOCS the characters are called by name. Is that just because the person made the MOC called them that for the particular build or did they have those names when they were released, as Bricklink tends to say things along the lines of Mouse 1 or Cow 2 and so on? Yes, the different characters have names, although they're different in different languages. Check out the Fabuland review index for the English names of some Fabuland characters. You can also look up the instruction booklets in various languages on peeron or Worldbricks. 4: The articulation on the figures, I assume by the looks of them that they have a similar range of movements to the normal mini-figure or are they in some way different? Check out the FBG discussion index and the Fabuland index. I'm sure you get an idea of the articulation of Fabufigs from the many topics linked in there. The articulation is similar, although the heads allow for much larger movement. Quote
LEGO Historian Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Well since this thread is open... I thought I would ask my question on it... I had a question about the LEGO FABULAND tree, which comes in the regular (7 holes) tree and the printed (7 holes) tree. However... recently when I was putting together a chapter on FABULAND in my Unofficial LEGO Sets Parts Collectors Guide (DVD download)... I came across a FABULAND tree I had never seen before. I was wondering if anyone here had seen this, and if so, could tell me anything about this apparent prototype FABULAND tree. Thanks for any information! Gary Istok Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 Thank you for your answers. I think I have what I need now, so generally the bits are sort of compatible especially the roof bit I mentioned, and the figures some of which have official names are about halfway in size between Duplo and Minifigures and they have a similar level of articulation as the minifigures but sometimes the head can be tilted. I may order a couple as they are quite cheap to get an actual feel for them so as to speak. Once again Thanks. Quote
