The 42022 Hot Rod is the first out in LEGO's new launch of digital building instructions.

I thought I'd do some cross-pollination between the forums at EB and would like to invite you guys over to the Digital Design forum to hear your thoughts on this new concept. What's good? What's bad?

Exactly, not everyone has broadband or the internet

How is it possible someone that collects Lego, an expensive toy, not have a good enough internet connection?

Were talking about joe public here. I have 1GB up and down and then times that by 5 lines :)

But your normal person is not going to have it

A normal person is not going to have the connection that you have but you don't need that to download a pdf file or watch some fancy electronic manual. I don't think people with an internet connection as bad as one that would not allow such things, or people with no internet at all, would be spending their money in Lego toys.

Could you imagine building your LEGO somewhere else than your home? What if kid gets his new lego while travelling somewhere abroad.

I just tried to install it on my 1st generation iPad. Apparently, iOS 6 or later is required which is a great disappointment.

I qoute myself:

Well, it's not only available on a limited number of devices, it's only available on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and the 1st generation Nexus 7 (not even the second generation, that one could handle it for sure, since it has better hardware and the same screensize). What are they thinking at Lego? I can understand why they want to focus on tablets first, but only 2 devices

This way you won't be able to get a lot of feedback....

So, there's not only a limited amount of Android devices, but also a limited amount of Apple devices

Lets get something right. Not everyone in the world is online. Kids get bought Lego as a gift. Not everyone has an online device that is going to be compatible with the instruction format.

That's the basics.
