#1legofreak Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Here is a place where we can complane about mega blocks. *twisted*
The Middleman Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 It's more fun to complain about them everywhere for short periods of time than in one place for an extended period of time. ;)
Bricks0937 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Mega Blpks are a cheap imitation of LEGO's and those who think that Lego is leaning toward a megablok sort of design is out of their mind. even though they are both building bloks, i still say megabloks arent even in the same league as lego. Megabloks are for those who cant afford Legos. LEGOS are superior and thats all there is to it. *twisted*
languages Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 When I tried to build a Mega blocks car it just fell apart instantly. The bricks wont fit togethor, but Lego is going towards the Dark Side. Look at the DINO line for instance...... *wacko*
Bricks0937 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 You are totally right about the megabloks. they never fit. im sorry to say but my hands were forced to touch the filthy things to help a cousin in building. i washed them right after. but you are wrong about them going to the dark side. Lego is like the Obi-Wan of bloks. Lego is simply expanding it's themes. did you really expect them to stick to castle, space, town, and adventure forever? i think its a good move on their part. now going to skin-toned...thats a totally different subject. :'(
Vader Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Well IMO i have found megablok sets to be very hit and miss, the old sets seem to fall apart very easy however some of the new ones are ok. Of course there still not as good as lego but if they did manage to sort the problem out it would be interesting to see what would happen.
snefroe Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 i've seen a mega block tank (Abrams) in the shop and i must say, from the outside, that really looks cool. unfortunately, the bricks lack quality, the concept to use bricks is basically stolen from TLC and at least this model had no interior design what so ever... however, if TLC were to build a copy or at least something similar, i'd buy it without any hesitation... and by the way, let's forget that lego is only for rich, megablock only for the poor... I'm not sure if TLC would agree with such a statement... nor would I...
Vader Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Well ive never thought of lego being a rich mans hobby or megabloks to be a poor mans, lego does make small sets that are affordable to people without much spare cash however i do feel that lego has cashed in on a number of there star wars sets by making sure that some of the more popular figs are only available in larger sets.
Peoples_General Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 "A new power is rising! And its victory is at hand!" - myself "rah rah rah rah rah rah rah rah rah" - Lego minifigures "To waaarrrrr!" - myself "People's General has sent an army of 10,000 Lego minifigures!" -MegaBloks fig "10,000!" -MegaBloks king fig "It is an army breed to destroy the world of MegaBlok Dragons!" -MegaBloks fig LOL! :D
jonfett Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 "Peoples_General, this task was appointed to you, and if you do not find a way... no one will." ;) Jon.
tjb tyranno Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 EWWWWW *sick* MEGA BLOKS SUCKS!!! I have a few sets of Mega Bloks! The big huge problem with me is that whenever I put pieces on, i can never ever get them off. So I have to use my teeth to try and get them off. Those stupid bloks...maybe they should be called Stupid Bloks instead of Mega Bloks. oh yeah and did you see thoe Mega Bloks X:DSpidermanX:D sets? THEY ARE SO G@Y!! i mean like, they look so dumb.
xwingyoda Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Why waist time talking about this crappy TLC rip-off ;)
#1legofreak Posted March 2, 2005 Author Posted March 2, 2005 I will idmite I do have one :D but before you tar & feather me it's because my cousin gave it to me and I didn't have the heart to give it away.
MShiels Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 The product is surely not as a good a quality as LEGO, but that's not all that judges a product. LEGO is getting killed for shelf space everywhere I shop these days. Walmart is down to 10 feet or so, but the MegaBlocks is like 20 feet, NOT GOOD!!!!
Jipay Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Well wall mart is a really special case. i'm not sure if it's good for megablock to have so much shelfspace. You obviously don't know how wall mart is practicing with the suppliers. Wall Mart is making its money on the suppliers, not on the clients, this is why you pay so few for the items you buy there. This is a really clever strategic move from lego to get out of wall mart
snefroe Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 i have to agree with this, unfortunately. it's getting more and more difficult to find a wide range of lego sets in all sorts of shops. not only specialised toy shops but also general wholesalers who used to have a lot of sets are no longer spending a lot of space in their shop for lego. you very often only get three out of four or five sets per theme these days... i've asked a retailer about what's going on and he was far from happy with tlc's policy on retailers. it seems these retailers simply have to buy whatever tlc is willing to sell to them. profit margins are also extremely small,...
snefroe Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 why isn't my quote working as it should? i was refering to Mshiels' text...
xwingyoda Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I agree with that stupid space shelf issue. At the toy store next to where I do my grocery shopping (in Paris :-D ) they totally reduced the amount of Lego space for that crappy other product which I won't even call. Ohwell, there are still some real Lego shops out there. Amen for that!!
