JoshW Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Hey All, Here is something I took to Brickfest. I meant to post this here some time ago, but totally forgot. Anyway, here it is, I hope you like it! (pic=link) Let me know what you think. Comments and criticism are always welcome. It was built specifically for Brickfest, but I will most likely take it to NWBrickCon as well. Josh Quote
Sir Dillon Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I've seen pictures of this before from Brickfest, but it's nice to see some closeups. I really like the shape in general, and the shields are an awesome touch. I think maybe some more landscaping wouldn't hurt, but it doesn't look bad now. The only thing I don't really like is the white prison bars. I think it'd look better in a different color. Great work, once again. Thanks for posting it. :-) BTW, you were the one with the 'Andrew's Minion' shirt, right? ;-) Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I never noticed it before but from a distance the shields look like the insignia of the Nazi SS. Nice tower btw *y* Quote
Starwars4J Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 This is a really phenomenal piece! Feel like donating some old grey to me? X-D No? Aww... Anyway, on to the MOC! This is really impressive, I love not only the scale of it, but the way you paid attention to some little details (like offsetting the second row of windows on the second floor). Really nice landscaping too, the entire thing feels repetitive in a good way. That said I fear it does suffer from BGW syndrome a bit. Overall nice work though :-) Is there an interior? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted April 13, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted April 13, 2007 Nice tower ;-) It's tall, but doesn't look dull because you've put in lots of details to keep in interesting. Like Starwars4J I was thinking "Does it have an interior?". Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 14, 2007 Governor Posted April 14, 2007 Pretty nice. It sure is tall. How tall in measurement is it? Does anybody know? Quote
JoshW Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 Hey All, Thanks for the great comments! The tower measures 47 inches high, from baseplate to top of the flag. Unfortunately, the interior is really ugly, just multicolored supports for the weight. It was built for public display (at Brickfest) so I didn't bother with any interior. Sir Dillon, that was me in the "Andrew's Minion" shirt. It was one of the shirts I had made up for The Brothers Brick. Calvin, its funny that you should say that about the shields looking like the SS insignia. A friend of mine at Brickfest, pointed out the same thing. Its rather odd, but you are right. It does look like that. :-/ Thanks again for the comments, Josh Quote
Norrington Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 WOW! That tower is amazing! I'd hate to be the poor sap in that tower! On a lighter note, you castlers may want to give your building muscles a pleasant little strech in my Dead Men Tell No Tales Vignette Contest! It's wholesome family fun! Yay~product placement! Quote
Norro Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I never noticed it before but from a distance the shields look like the insignia of the Nazi SS.Nice tower btw *y* I thought the same thing, though I think the Irish amongst us were supposed to note the name ;-) . Nice work Josh, particularly in grounding such a tall tower. The scenery is very good! Also good to see your green lad in action... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Wout Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Nice I like the use of the sheilds and the terraces *y* Quote
simonwillems Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Great tower, man... that thing sure is tall... 47 inch means 119 cm. 8- Quote
