Posted December 30, 201311 yr Hello My recent build is once again from Middleearth and shows Smaug's attack at Lake Town. The whole build basically finished before i got the chance to watch the second Hobbit movie the first time, so the houses of Lake Town and Smaug are result of the description in the book and my own imagination. Next to fitting proportions and the general organic look it was important for me to realize the iconic gold belly of Smaug. More pictures on MOCpages. I hope you like it! December 30, 201311 yr The gold belly for Smaug is a really nice touch! That really sticks out to me; I don't think I've seen it done before.
December 31, 201311 yr Awesome job. I still haven't seen the movie, but I did read the book earlier this year. I don't particularly remember much about the descriptions, but this fits in well with what I've seen of other pictures of Lake-town. That Smaug is really interesting. I've been meaning to build a beast of some sort, but still haven't found the time. Keep up the great work. The entire scene looks like I'd picture it.
December 31, 201311 yr Woah, that Smaug must be really frail! But I see some lovely techniques there! Great colors on buildings! Edited December 31, 201311 yr by Lordofdragonss
December 31, 201311 yr Excellent representation of Laketown Your color choices look great and I like the roof designs Smaug is very impressive, and the gold on his belly is a great touch
December 31, 201311 yr That dragon is epic! The gold belly really sets it off. The town is well done too, especially the pilings.
December 31, 201311 yr it looks amazing, the dragon in special, but maybe you should have used the black bow from the wester indians for Bard, but overal great job
January 1, 201411 yr Man, that is cool. Smaug looks excellent, and I love the technique you used for the windows, simple but effective!
January 1, 201411 yr A Really nice dragon there. I hope that they do a Smaug set at some point and that it is a nice big one. I think maybe your dragon is a little small for Smaug as he looks long and thin in the film and in most depictions of him I have seen. Don't get me wrong though, I really like your dragon. Maybe it could be son of Smaug!
January 1, 201411 yr Author Hello guys Thank you everyone for the kind words and the ton of feedback. it looks amazing, the dragon in special, but maybe you should have used the black bow from the wester indians for Bard, but overal great job I thought of using on, but these normal bows are smaller and in my opinion a bit to small for Bard the Bowman. Now how did you make that brown angle piece in the tall building? At the upper end of each 1x4 Tile is a black 1x1 Plate with vertical Clip. A Really nice dragon there. Yes, he is not the biggest dragon. But first i had not the bricks to build him as huge as in the movie, second a bigger Smaug wouldn't have sit down on that tower. And especially this pose was important for me. Furthermore it's very hard to build a huge creation and keep the level of details the same. Jonas
January 2, 201411 yr An excellent in many ways! The dragon is really nice, with such a distinct head, great wing joints and a piggy bank belly. The houses are great too. You've got some nice stonework there, and those roofs are perfect. I like several details lake the panel hanging out of the store, or the ring used as doorknob. The walkways are really excellent too. Congrats. Too bad you didn't add the big crossbow. I've the feeling it's going to be quite important in this scene yet to come in the movie! I'm seeing some really great builds from the Hobbit movies. This one is certainl among the best of them.
July 17, 201410 yr Smaug just looks incredible. I'm still wrapping my head around how you used those gold coins.
