B Rick Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Fun topic! And very cool info. I think this movie and the sets of this movie depend heavilly on recognizabillity. I remember noticing the 'art direction' of the movie (and merchandise) having a VERY familiar touch to it by using familliar Lego-pieces... Quote
Jared Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I wish they'd do more of the CMF series 6 Sleepy head hairpiece in the same reddish-brown rather than all these black ones coming out. That is an awesome hairpiece design though. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I still feel that red is "underused" and would like it if, apart from my CMF'S and minifigs from action themes, that my city has some interesting colors, I like red, and would like it to be used more in Lego. Quote
Arigomi Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Sleepyhead is also a potential male hairpiece, but if it was designed to be "messy" for those who excercise, sleep or fight, would it be a natural hairstyle? It depends on the context. It always reminded me of faux hawks and the spiky hair boys like these days. Edited January 5, 2014 by Arigomi Quote
Borex Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I think we're still in need of curly hair. Nappy black hair for colored minifigs. It would work also real good as curly hair for blondes and reds. Now we only have the absurd afro if we want to give our colored male minifigs some hair. Quote
Dorayaki Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Interesting topic. I'm with jonwil in wanting more blonde male hair pieces. I'm not a mod, but I'm thinking this thread should be in the Minifig Customisation Workshop forum, not General. In the view of customization, yes, modders do care. But I think balancing hairpieces is not for modders in the first place, but more for diversity of products. Was not the Team GB horse rider hair/hat bit the same as the one used in the Friends line meaning that there has been at least one cross over between friends and mini-figures? It may have been a different color I do not have them to hand to check, but i am sure the bit was the same. Here you go. But generally these cases are not doing with "overuse" since "overuse" mostly happens in City or action themes, even though these uses of Friends hairpieces are smart. Dorayaki Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Different license holders must have different rules, as Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Dumbledore's hairpieces have all made it into generic lego. In HP, Bellatrix's looks like the only licensed hairstyle (not counting Hagrid). Interestingly enough the very first male hair piece.... the 3901... is shown in some 1979 set images as a different hair piece. Apparently the hairpiece shown in the images was a prototype hairpiece... the actually produced hairpiece was slightly different. Interesting fact. But we can see that this piece could be modified from the first hairpiece (by cutting the ponytails), and TLG found it wasn't good enough. Edited January 8, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote
