Agent Fusion Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 The Speedorz page was not in the UK issue, but the constraction part was. Quote
Agent Fusion Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Sorry for the double post, but I can confirm that the Ultrabuilds are being stocked in the Cardiff LEGO Shop. However, I am yet to buy any... Quote

PenPlays Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I saw all of the August-release sets (Fire vs, Ice) at the Chicago Water Tower LEGO store today. Please reiterate. You mean to say that you saw the Constraction figures there? Or did you accidentally click the wrong sub forum to report a new set sighting? Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Wrong thread, sorry. The names are too similar! Quote
Zorglorfian Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Wrong thread, sorry. The names are too similar! So there's no hope of there being a US release? I really want to get Fangar and Fluminox! Quote
Agent Fusion Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 The Ultrabuilds are now available from Argos and The Entertainer, so I picked up Mungus. Overall, he is a great figure, with a brilliant selection of pieces. It is great to get so many recolours and the new chest armour is a rather nice piece. I would certainly recommend it to any fan of constraction, Chima or both. Quote
Chimaninja454 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Yesterday I bought 70212. I must say it is a decent actionfigure, Although it has some flaws on his legs. :) Quote
Mutant Orc Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I've purchased a few of these. I didn't really intend to get Vardy, but I did for the parts, and he's quite nice actually. Fangar is rather impressive, and Laval and Cragger are decent. Quote
Leewan Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 In France, Fluminox and Panthar are (already) sold out, and only Cragger is labeled as Available Now, while the other ones have the Call to check product availability label. Are they as popular in other countries as here ? Quote

Are they as popular in other countries as here ? It's exactly the same story in the UK. I thought that was very odd indeed. They're all still available via other normal retail channels like Amazon and certain toy stores and supermarkets here though. It's very very strange for things like this to sell out in less than 3 months here... Quote
Shakar Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 So Amazon has Fangar up for 14 Euro, should I go for him? I'm not very interested in the white pieces, but the other ones are pretty good, and this might be the last chance to get his cape before it can only be found at Bricklink at stupid high prices. I would definitely shoot for it. Fangar's pretty excellent, despite some flaws, and his pieces are top notch. Quote

I would. I imported the set and don't regret it at all. You're not interested in the white parts, but the white feet are exclusive so far to that set. Quote
Shakar Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 2 out of 2 eh? Alright, just ordered him. Thanks guys! Over Bricklink the cape is already going for 10 Euro! Plus, another Titan torso bone can't hurt. Quote
Mesonak Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Excellent! Hope you enjoy him. The Chima 2014 Constraction sets are fantastic and I'll still bummed that they didn't get a North America release. I ended up acquiring Panthar and Sir Fangar and I'd recommend them to anyone. I just wish the rest were easily obtainable. ;_; Quote
TheDesuComplex Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I'm hoping to get Chi Laval and Chi Cragger. So, would the best option to acquire it be Bricklink? I am not sure if international Amazon websites will ship to the US. Quote
Shakar Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 So my Fangar arrived today, and my pre-purchase impressions remain pretty much unchanged. One of the biggest problems of the set is the lack of white: he should be a white character with gunmetal armour, but he looks like a gunmetal character with some white bits instead. At the time, I was very annoyed to not see any new white shell but thankfully Kopaka fixed that so I forgive them, but I'm still annoyed at the figure's asymmetry (second problem)- It's not a good asymmetry a la Splitface, it's that bad one that looks odd AND devilishly ensures you don't end up with even numbers of interesting parts (the worst offender is easily the amazing long two holes tr. light blue bone on his lower leg). That said, the parts are pretty good: the giant spikes are neat pieces, the single (grah) long bone in tr. blue is marvelous, and yes, the cape is very very cool. The figure is decent, if a bit odd in some parts (the arms are pretty short, and the ice spikes are awkward in looks and functionality). The (third) problem is that Fangar, like Fluminox, does not feel like a 20 Euro set: the torso is laughably simplistic (despite the admittedly clever shoulder design), and the lack of lower arms and back armour is unacceptable at this price point. And it shows, given the pitiful pieces count (97): sure, Tahu has fewer pieces, but keep in mind that Fangar has a striking amount of small Technic bits, while the Tahu chock full of large and/or new parts. I don't know how much budget did the cape take away, Fluminox doesn't have one yet he's still fairly simplistic. With Fangar and Fluminox, it seems to me they wanted to make two larger figures but they couldn't come up with a way to justify their price point, which is why they added those silly launcher weapons and those terrible "wing" mechanisms. Which is sad, because the CCBS can build amazingly creative designs, even without new pieces (just look at Furno Jet Machine!). They are many cool things they could've done with these guys, like more animalistic proportions, tails, real wings for Fluminox. This extends to all 7 sets: I still think that the Fire vs Ice Ultrabuilds, for all the cool transparent bones they bring, are less creative and not as well designed as the 2013 wave. So, at the price I bought Fangar for (about 15 Euro), I don't regret buying him, I'd say he's a 8. At full price? A very weak 7. Welp, this got surprisingly long, I'm sorry- I tried so shorten it, but I couldn't find anything to remove. Oh, and I just realized that Fangar is left handed like me. Yes, I feel somewhat offended about that. Quote
prozac Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I just started buying these...got all the first series and freakin love em. Ive got mungus, fluminox, and vardy coming from a BL shop in Austria. can't wait to get fluminox. Quote
TheGreatSpirit Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I found Fangar to be a great figure that took Furno XL's build and improved it (the shoulders are much more secure). Having back armour on a caped figure is kinda pointless IMO, so I don't mind that he doesn't have any. Regarding the forearms and asymmetrical legs, I thought they contributed to Fangar's skeletal look (although admittedly the legs would've been better off being symmetrical). I can see why some don't like it, but he's probably my favorite Chima figure to date. Quote
bjj8383 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I love the weapons, I already ordered one on bricklink for a moc. Quote
ZORK64 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I only got Fangar so far, and I'm kinda tempted to get one of the other sets too for the axes, but I'm unsure which one since I already got a good chunk of the older Chima Dudes once they went on sales. Quote
Shakar Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Out of the Fire guys, I think Fluminox is the best choice. The 5 extra Euros are really worth it: he has four -the highest number out of the quartet- of the new armour add-ons (which I like a lot and I hope to see in BIONICLE!), a large torso bone, a good selection of tr. orange parts (included the hands, which are exclusive to him and Cragger- and well, Protector of Fire) and 4 friction joints. Get Cragger/Panthar if you need earth green/black parts, otherwise go for Fluminox. Laval looks pretty useless to me, aside from his exclusive gold Beast feet. If you want another Ice set, I'd get Vardy, the dark tan shells are marvelous and he has a good selection of tr. light blue pieces, probably the best one among the Ice trio. Quote
