Governor Mister Phes Posted January 29, 2007 Governor Posted January 29, 2007 Formatting Links There are a couple of ways you can improve the way you post links: Improving Visibility It is recommended that hyperlinks are bolded and span three or more words. Example A (1 word, no bold): This is an example with a one worded and unformatted hyperlink sitting within a paragraph of text. Typically unformatted on worded hyperlink looks like this: Click here. First note that the link is not active so don't bother clicking it because it won't take you anywhere. How easily do you think this link is spotted amongst all the text? Example B (4 words, bolded): This is an example with a four worded and bolded hyperlink sitting within a paragraph of text. A four worded and bolded hyperlink looks like this. First note that the link is not active so don't bother clicking it because it won't take you anywhere. How easily do you think this link is spotted amongst all the text? How to create these links: First write the text you want to become a link. Highlight the text and press the Bold button. Now highlight the text within the bold tags and press the Insert Link button Enter the hyperlink in the dialogue box which appears and press OK Naming Brickshelf Links A typical link to a Brickshelf Folder looks like this: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=172964 However they can be presented and named more meaningfully, like this: Imperial Ground Forces Brickshelf Folder Where possible use a name similar to that of the Brickshelf folder or a name relevant to its contents, rather than using the Brickshelf folder's direct link. If you can ascertain a decent name from the folder then at the very least use View Brickshelf Folder as the link. Quote
