Yes, I did not get the joke until after you had explained it, and it made me come off a bit bad. This game was full of excellent players and showed me just how much I still have to learn. You guys are so good at picking up little nuances that I don't even see. This game is so overwhelming at first when you're trying to figure out the allegiances of 20+ players, but as it gets going, you start to figure things out. I think this is why I'm suspected as being scum in every single game.

My hats off to Hinckley especially, I was pretty fooled, I was sure you were a Town role player since you weren't your normal loud accusatory self, and I say that in a complimentary way. TinyPies, excellent game. From the wierd roles that you put in the game to keep folks on their toes(I think everybody can agree that they said "WTF!!!" when the double kill happened), to the excellent photography and story telling, it was great.

Thanks TPRU for letting me play, your hosting was top notch. As this was the first time I had playing a true neutral, I've got to say it felt very different. I didn't have to worry about giving away my scum team nor did I have to be concerned about hampering the town too much, so in a way it was very liberating while at the same time sort of lonely. Great job Scum Team, you all did a fantastic job as playing as a team. I was in a toss-up between targeting fhomess or Hinckley the night I was killed, but up until that point you both had me strung along in your PM's, so good work.

Really a tremendous job hosting, TPRU. The storyline and photography was excellent. I decided that if I ever am to host a game here on EB, I will want to move to New Zealand to take outdoor photographs. They add a ton. The epilogue was great, too, and there were some lovely shots in there as well.

Day Three

Night 3

Darkdragon - bodyguard fhomess (fhomess already protected - sacrifice not necessary)

Waterbrick Down - kill fhomess (unsuccessful)

Feeling the love from Darkdragon, but WBD? I thought we were friends! :cry_sad:

I think our scum team played very well together. As def mentioned on the deadboard, none of us were all that concerned about how we won, simply that we did. It made it easy to adjust strategy as the game progressed. I was a bit surprised that I was able to wrangle my way out of the situation with Jamesn for a couple of days until the "investigator" caught me. Still, I found my defence very convincing. I couldn't believe no one bought it!

Given that our double night kill was not guaranteed, playing it safe to cement Hinck as the investigator was probably the right thing to do. Ultimately, we got lucky that Hinck targetted Kristel day 1. His role was pretty powerful as a bit of a day role cop with the added bonus of copying the target's action. That it worked out so well on Day 1 really was fortuitous.

On the town side, I felt bad for Jamesn who tried to do the right thing but just chose the wrong person to claim to. FWIW, you did a good job of holding back information initially. Dave, I still don't quite understand your plan for Day 1.

Overall I appreciated the approach that people took to the game. There was some testiness as always, but I think people backed off when it started to get too personal. I know Scuba rubs a lot of people the wrong way but he does ask legitimate questions and challenge people. That's usually good for town if people can get beyond his delivery. I felt like the town wasn't really talking through various theories, but maybe that was because Hinck had people more confident in the town block than they should've been.

I was a bit upset that the fact that I was attacked and lynched by the scum team as soon as i put up all thier names, and yet nobody (*ahem* corney) thought that was suspicious even when I came back town. Eh, so it goes. Pretty much the reason I dont like to put my list up and the reason the scum always are after us to do so. People tend to get trust-tunnel-vision and don't really pay attention to things.

fhomess, i did not want to protect you (because i thought you wer scum), but i did because i wanted corney to know i was with him on his team, but then he went ahead and lynched anyway. so much for trying to help.

Nice hosting as always., TPRU.

You were too friendly, we didn't have our traditional spat where we yell at each other for so long until we realize no sane scum would spend so much time arguing.:laugh:

For what it's worth, you read towny to me the rest of them just couldn't see it. :classic: Edited by Waterbrick Down

When the town block is being led fully by the scum team, these things happen. Hinck knew my suspicions and was just waiting for me to declare it in thread so he could get me lynched (through corney of course because he knew i'd turn up town). Once the town leader trusts the scum team, it really is rather hopeless. There was absolutely nothing I could do to save myself by that point and as I figured would happen, nobody cared really about my list or the fact i turned up town. Nobody bothered to look at my reasoning or even think "oh hey maybe we should look into this".

What's funny, or sad, depending on how you look at it is the fact that I stayed quiet because i get lynched when i speak (no matter what i say) and so it was this time. Exactly as predicted. I tried to do as much as i could behind the scenes before it happened but that did no good at all. There's always next time.

Don't feel bad at all. It was my fault to contact you and, at any rate, I hedged my bets between you and LegoDad.

Another awesome game, TinyPiesRUs! Shame I didn't get to participate as much as I wanted to, especially in the middle of the game, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity to play one of your games again, I just wish I could have done better. Awesome game for the scum. You guys did really well. Wow, last three games I've played have been scum wins. Not looking good on my resume. :enough:

You know, this was the game I was going to really really participate in too...until I learned I was scum. I didn't want to change my gaming style so suddenly, since people might have questioned anything that wasn't "typical Bob".

I guess it worked out alright.

Hinckley... You're pretty good... And I will never trust you ever again.

Also, honorary scum, I am honored.

When we first started talking you told me if I was Scum I was doing much better than Ragnarok One and I almost said "thanks". That would've been brilliant. So now I can say thanks for that. I royally screwed up the first Ragnarok and was happy to have a strong team with a strong plan in this one. I was worried to talk to you, but that was something that gave me away the first time, so I remembered not to back down when you started pressing me. Unfortunately, people's reaction to your particular playing style made it easy to leave you as a top suspect, despite being "investigated", something Rick never liked, why I was talking to you when you were so suspicious. I wrote a novel to explain that one away. But, all throughout we let the Town lead the lynches. We started a couple of votes, but we went with what the Townies wanted to do. The only lynch I feel we stopped was Bob's and that was by giving a false investigation result. Scuba, my friend, you were almost lynched on Day Six.

We did kill Pie because we needed Scuba if there was a Day Seven (which I was terrified there was a PGO in the remaining Townie Pool). We probably should've killed Murdock because he would've been onto a Day Seven Hinckley. He kept asking why I was still alive ( Sorry...) but Day Seven would've been too far. I just couldn't bring myself to kill him, although TPRU did have me literally stab him in the back in the conclusion. :cry_sad: Mirrors sting sometimes. What we asked in the final Night Action submission was that if there was no PGO we could kill Scuba and give CallMePie and Cornelius hugs and just push them into a lake. No offense, Scuba.

Another thing I liked about this Scum team so much: We all had plans for what got Scum caught in the past. We really looked at what our individual Scum tells had been and how we reacted when confronted with them before. My in-thread activity was way off, but I knew being active behind the scenes under the guise of protecting a PR and giving the "Scum" someone to try to throw suspicion on was easy enough explanation for that.

Nerve-wracking game with what felt like a tenuous grasp on the Town's trust. Thanks again to the Scum team for putting up with "Hyper-Hinck". Some days I would have a full circle conversation with myself, come up with a new idea and talk myself out of it by the time anyone had time to respond. Oh, the rolling pin... :snicker: We could do a lot to help future Scum teams, but I wonder how much of our strategy we should reveal. I really enjoyed playing with everybody, Town and Scum, though. It was really an old-school EB Mafia game! It was a great Scum collaboration, though. It really felt like each member played their part on and off the playing field. Sorry to keep having a Scum love fest.

One question, TPRU. Waterbrick Down's role says he gets a strongarm modifier on the night when he correctly guesses the lynch. But when he killed Foog, your NA list says he guessed Nemo. What happened?

Congrats scum team, you played a great game.

Great hosting too, Tiny Pies. I hope I get another opportunity to play in one of your games (and surviving a little longer).

It was suggested on the dead board that I was playing my PR game. I'd be interested in hearing what gave me away.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, and thanks for playing! I'll post some more thoughts later on, but this was some of the most fun I've had hosting a game.

He didn't guess the lynch correctly, so he didn't receive the strongman modifier that night. He was lucky enough to be protected by Rick though, so he wasn't killed by Foog's bomb. It's a shame WBD didn't send in a prediction for Day 3 though - had he guessed that def would be lynched, he would've been able to bypass fhomess's protection and swing momentum a little more in the town's favour.

Thank you TPRU for doing a superb game hosting of this mafia game! I really enjoyed it very much. Kudos to my fellow scum mates for doing all they could for making it possible! It was nice playing this game but it can be very stressful when there are quite a fair bit of decieving and decit. Sigh. This is not one of my best play ever and lots of my planning and leading goes to my scummy teammates. Hope to add more thoughts when it is more convenient.

The decision to target you on Day One was left up to me. Even before we knew you were the investigator, my plan was to claim day investigator. I never expected it would get me very far, but TinyPies had used two vigs before so I was going to try to be as adamant as I could that there were two investigators. So, I had to play Town-Hinck and Town-Hinck would've investigated you since you and Dave both were suspecting me and you had that reaction to being grouped with him and since Dave was "obviously Scum" my best justification for when I was asked later who I targeted was you. Had you not been so adamant about your gut feeling that I was Scum, I probably would've targeted someone else. That was why I contacted you. "If you got a Town result on Kristel, why didn't you contact her?" I also wanted to try and gauge if you had claimed to anyone about your role to see if I could claim investigator after we killed you. I didn't know if you were paranoid enough to send an "in case I'm dead" PM to someone.

I think you did a great job at getting out of being lynched. We couldn't help you with that and you accomplished it very well.

Thanks, Hinckley. While I thought you were scum, I didn't think scum would kill me that first night. My (flawed) logic was that you wouldn't bother contacting me if you were going to kill me. So, I thought I was safe until the morning and my investigation result was in, and I'd have someone I could confide in. I have sent an "in case I'm dead" PM before, but really didn't know who I could trust yet in this game. Interestingly, the one person I should have contacted was at the bottom of the list because I assumed you two were scum buddies because you told me to contact him.

Thanks so much for having me, TPRU. I had a lot of fun, even if it was short lived. I actually thought I was doing well, other than trusting def, but I guess not  Oh, and great job to the scum too!

I was really hoping to have you as an ally! What I told you in PM, your early voting pegged you as a townie, was true. Dave asked me my opinion on you, and I would have stuck up for you, but he asked while I was sleeping, and when I woke up you were dead.

That was a real disappointment for me, the two townies I made inroads with on day one both were dead by the end of the first day! There weren't really other opportunities (after Murdock found my "scum tell" of not replying to a PM punctually :sadnew: ).

Thanks, def. You had me convinced you were town for a while too, so I do need to work on that aspect of the game. I should have followed my guy, considering I accused Esurient for messaging me on Day One in Harriet Slutter.

First of all, I'd like to apologize to my fellow townies that I was misled so completely.

I'd even like to apologize to you, Scuba, for losing my cool once or twice there. I'd like to work out whatever it is that gets us at each others throats in these games.

(after Murdock found my "scum tell" of not replying to a PM punctually :sadnew: ).

You're confused. That was not your scum tell. As I tried to explain before, I thought your "he's disregarding my input" thing was accusing me of not replying to you. I was trying to say that I had replied to you and that if you had any input to give, I was open to it. You interpreted my last Pm at the time as shutting you down when it wasn't. But that had nothing to do with why I thought you were scummy.

The one thing I did right this game was not a happy accident, I know how you play as town and that wasn't it.

Posted

You're confused. That was not your scum tell.

No, you told Hinckley in PM that I hadn't replied to your PM, and that it was suspicious. Which is why I tried to turn it the other way in thread rather than try to keep talking to you in private.

Real world comes first, and that is the #1 reason I wouldn't reply in a timely manner.

Still haven't read that last PM

Posted

I just mentioned to Hinck that you seemed to be done talking to me. I said that you probably got whatever you wanted from me. I don't think I said that I found it particularly scummy and it certainly wasn't why I thought you were scum.
