Doom2099 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 In an ideal world, I like to see Castle get more sets like MMV or the old Blacksmith's Shop. At the high end, I'd like to see the theme get a true Modular Building treatment: big buildings made from small parts with lots of details not big wall panels with stickers. At the low end, they could borrow a page from the Urukai Army pack and offer battle packs with modular (detailed) battlements designed to snap together to build massive castle walls $20 at a time while also offering a good, generic parts part for MOCer's Lego's made some big strides with sets like MMV and the Blacksmith shop, but going modular would be incredible! I've always wondered if they couldn't do some small village like modulars, on smaller baseplates. Small shops, stalls, and armories like 6041. If Lego unleashed their imagination on small baseplates, I think the results would be incredible. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 My opinion on LOTR and Hobbit sets: I like the books okay, but I am not really a fan of the movies. Since the sets are movie-based, I tend to not enjoy the sets much (other than Bag-End). I am also not a fan of fleshie heads on any figures (although I do have a weakness for Marvel superheroes), so I have no use for the elves, dwarves, etc, other than for weapons and accessories and such. However, the LOTR/Hobbit sets have been great for expanding my collection earth tones (tan, dark tan, assorted browns) and greens. My strategy has been to buy sets off of Ebay that already have the figures removed. I was able to pick up most of the first wave of the Hobbit for about half-price, and only get what I really wanted withiut having a bunch of spare fleshies lying around. Since I already have a good amount of greys and bleys, I didn't bother picking up many LOTR sets, and don't anticipate getting much of the second wave Hobbit either. I should clarify that I tend not to keep ANY sets together (parts are only as useful as they can be MOCed), so even if I were really into Peter Jackson's Middle-Earth mess, I still probably would have bought the sets for parts, but picked up more of them with minifigs intact. Its little bit childish at least those constructions and the main plot itself, but lion knight figs are almost the best castle knights we have.. (with red lion knights and dragon knghts from previous waves... Quote
SerenityInFire Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I think the new lion insignia is better than the old Royal Knights one. Quote
gedren_y Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I think the new lion insignia is better than the old Royal Knights one. Same here. I like blue better than red. Quote
