First two BL orders for my Blue Grocer arrived today. 1100 pieces to go, all of them already ordered.

2 orders from the Netherlands with roughly 450 bricks (including the brown tiles with the printed viking pattern) are already shipped.

I finished ordering on Saturday, so far I got invoices from 7 of the remaining 8 orders, the seller of the 8th one so far hasn't reacted. He stated in his store terms that he'd send an invoice within 48 hours, so I'll propably be fine, but still, I already started wondering what I'll do if this creates a longer delay. I'm itching to get all the parts together so I can start building

As someone who missed out on Fire Brigade, do you think it'd be a better idea to BL the inventory at this point, or to just buy the actual set before the prices rise any higher?

Maybe look around to see if any local stores have them? I got mine from a local toy store here in NZ for $225 on sale (roughly USD190) just a couple of days ago.

Time to Bricklink the Green Grocer! Is Pet Shop the best one to get for replacement parts?

Only if you want to build a Sand Blue Green Grocer.

Hello

I have a green grocer for sale. It misses some of the sand green bricks though. I will say the set is 90% complete.

Sand green 1x1 brick 18/35

Sand green 1x2 with groove 15/56

Sand green 1x3 27/54

Sand green 1x4 36/41

Sand green1x8 31/59

Sand green base 1/6

The rest of the missing parts in the set are standard bricks that are cheap on BL.

Send me a message if you want a complete list of the missing parts.

The last two bricklink orders for my Blue Grocer arrived today. This is the pile of bricks after I checked the two last orders:

:sweet:

Unfortunately, I'm still missing 13 parts, but I started building anyway, and now I'm almost done with the ground floor.

The 13 missing parts consist of 5 pieces the bricklink sellers forgot, and 8 light bley goblets that I forgot to order, apparently. I can still build pretty much the entire building, the only real bummer is that one of the missinge pieces is one of the 3x6 wedge pieces that form the roof above the bay windows. So I'll end up doing one more bricklink order next week... possibly also containing a first batch of bricks that I'll need for Café Corner, even though I'm not planning to tackle that one in the foreseeable future.

I am just now starting to put together my BrickLink'd Cafe Corner after a year of gradually accumulating the pieces. So far I have spent $380 with all original pieces (minus the instructions), and the only pieces I still have to purchase are 13 more white panels (w/o side supports).

I completed a BrickLink'd Market Street last year and it cost me just under $300 with all original pieces. I think the key to a lower price is waiting for the right pieces to become available at decent prices, or sales on bulk orders.

Thanks for the reply. Did you have any pieces at the start or did you buy all new pieces?

I started with around 125 pieces from my own collection for Market Street, and around 75 pieces for Cafe Corner. The pieces I already had were mostly smaller common pieces. Afterwards I placed an order with LEGO Bricks & Pieces to get anything that was overpriced on BrickLink vs. through LEGO directly. I was able to save money on some of the still available but rarer pieces--dark blue bricks in both sets including the arches (thanks to Winter Village Market), dark bluish grey parrots, dark red bricks including the slopes (thanks to Pet Shop), etc.

So far I have stuck with mostly new parts or good used quality. It's been a long road and I'm definitely excited to be finishing up Cafe Corner, but it's been worth the patience in order to keep costs down along the way.

Still missing one of the wedge plates for the roof, will get that shortly.

The build was lots and lots of fun, and the resulting building is a magnificient piece - and it's huuuuge.

I used:

871 bricks from Pet Shop

170 from my own collection

1335 from Bricklink

From BL I got about 80 percent new bricks, the rest was used but in great condition (with one very ugly, badly chewed exception, but I had gotten some spares anyway). Most expensive ones were the three printed reddish brown tiles with the viking snakes pattern, at 2€ each.

I miscalculated some with the Sand Blue bricks and ordered too few of the 1x6 bricks, ran out of them after the second to last layer of sand blue bricks. Luckily, I had ordered too many of the 1x4 and 1x1s, so I was still able to finish the building.

Future plans:

- use some of the remaining inventory of the Pet Shop I sacrificed to create some furniture for this building.

- replace the four 2x3 windows on the upper left of the front facade with two 4x3 windows, as in the original plans. I like the look of the doubled 2x3s in the bay windows, and don't mind them in the back of the building, but they don't work for me in the dormer windows.

Ah thanks. I would also probably start with a few pieces from my collection too. Thanks!

I'm thinking of brick linking greengrocer, in blue for cost. But for a complete beginner how do I start. Do I print the inventory off of brink link. Then go go lego and buy new of what is available and the rest new or secondhand from bricklink??

Is that the right way?

Best way to keep track of orders etc?

Thanks in advance

It seems sand blue is quite the trend now.

I actually had most pieces available. Only had one small order for some extra sand blue pieces via bricklink.

I printed off the inventory and went through my collection and figured out what I was planning on changing before I ordered anything.

I'd say I spent less than $75 for sure on cc and sand blue grocer. I definitely agree, wait for good sale prices.

A question for those who BLed (or just built) Cafe Corner:

Is it possible to build the facade of the upper floor just one stud wide when using regular windows instead of the wall elements? From looking at the instructions, the second layer of bricks seems to serve no structural purpose other than to support the wall elements, and removing it shouldn't be too hard, it being another color and all.

Also, does anyone know if there are any high quality PDFs of the instructions of cafe Corner available? I downloaded them from several sites, but it always was the same pdf. It's very blurry, color distinguation is hard and especially in the second manual the darker colors blur together. Sometimes it's very hard to even make out individual bricks.

I think this might be due to the easy access to 1x2 and 1x1 sand blue bricks on most PaB walls.

Brickfactory has scans of the actual instructions or they're on the lego website

I'm sure they are all sharing the same PDF that is available on lego.com. I think all the instructions on there are fairly low quality; like they are scans of printed instructions. You'd think they could generate 1st generation electronic copies.

i think it has something to do with buying sand blue grooves being much cheaper then sand green so people are changing the color of the set in the Version they are making.

I do not recall someone having posted photos/inventory with sand blue in the PaB thread ( http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=27795 ), only medium blue (1x1 & 1x2). And myself I only found medium blue.

Looks great!

Is the blue a preference or are the blue parts/pieces easier and/or cheaper to get a hold of?

Hi all - I have just registered today. I kept thinking about bricklinking gg and I kept coming across this thread....so I figured I should register and join in! I just placed my first BL order for some sand green parts last night so I am getting ready to go!

Have decided to stick with sand green, swap out the 1x8s and change the awning from blue to dark red (more because I like the look than the cost).

I have spent a good chunk of today starting to go through my collection. I have found a couple hundred parts so far, but would like to get around 500 from what I have....
