I bricklinked the frogs and parrots this weekend which are the final pieces i need for my cafe corner.

How much did the parrots run you? When I was BLing my CC last year, they were to expensive to get the Dark Bluish Grey ones, (rather I wasn't paying the asking price for them), so I got the old Dark Grey birds for pennies. You really can't tell the difference.

^ What part number are you using for that, and has it changed from the original part in Cafe Corner? I was on the phone placing a BnP order on the weekend I was told that part in that color was discontinued/retired and no replacement came up, just alternate colors (black, etc.).

(I had element ID: 4258479, Design ID: 3680.)

I'd really like to get that part, but it's just not economically viable with the current BL prices.

I would check to see if anyone is offering the part with the turnable plate already installed. I went this route and it was a lot cheaper for whatever reason. Maybe I was lucky.

Also with the Dark Red slopes, I think the new Creator set is going to have them, so the price should go down. (This is all depending if the picture of the set indeed was them.)

You can buy them on BnP right now for $0.43 each - can't beat that price!

They are a currently stocked part through BnP, because of Pet Shop most likely. They were 61 cents CDN each (element ID: 4623597, instead of 4541382). That's not chump change considering the quantity CC requires (x36), but still cheaper than the cheapest BL seller I could find that had 36 or more in stock.

I had to go check out my PS to see where those were, only 2 of them in the whole set as far as I could tell. I didn't realize they were in that set at all when I was looking for them...

That would have saved me so much money...I paid $40 from a US BL seller.

the dark bluish grey ones were running around $4 each so I also went for the dark grey ones too. I cant wait to get them to see how close in colour they are.

No guarantees, but on a long enough timeline they might replace most pieces in future sets. The 5 high doors aren't "in system" anymore, so those will never be made again. But a good majority will either be in a future set OR they will modify it slightly for future sets (like the panels with the side supports, or the slopes with/without open stud, etc).

Since I am modifying the CC, I needed an extra 16 dark red slopes..not fun. But BnP is the best place to look for most things first.

I'm glad the parrots came back, although I put a 1x1 round brick and a 1x1 round cone (in dark bley) instead of the parrots and I think I like that better. But I did order the parrots to have them just in case I change my mind.

To the above post, at least in my eyes, dark gray and dark bley are vastly different. Light gray and light bley are much closer in color, but you can still tell the difference. But I can spot dark gray out of dark bley right away. But I can also tell the difference between HD and standard definition. It seems some people can't tell the difference there...odd.

Did anyone mention yet in this thread the issue of 2x10 reddish-brown bricks? (you need 2 for CC).

Check the price on BL. How's that for a laugh? (And yes, I checked PAB and BnP, none available).

It's not a "crucial" part thankfully. You could easily substitute a combination of 2x4 and 2x6, or 2x6 and 2x3s, 2x8 + 2x2, etc. I just can't believe a part that most would consider a BASIC BRICK is so rare and expensive.

Total agreement with you here...

I substituted (2) 2x8 and (2) 2x2 bricks for it in my purchases so the bricks would still cover seams in the floor that were covered by the 2x10's

^That's awesome. I have 5 of those 2x10 red-brown bricks from other sets I own that aren't together. But I won't be using any of them since my build is a little modified.

Sorry - I noticed it when browsing BnP by set. It was a surprise as I had a hard time with it too and ended up getting it as a complete assembly on BL (as recommended by another post prior). Also noticed it was gone from BnP shortly after - mistake maybe - mine likely as I was giddy about the parrots being back.

Also letting you know that 60598 works fine for the top floor window 2x4x3 frames without any work-around. You just need to get the 60608 panes for them.

Somewhat cross with BnP at the moment. When I placed my order, I was told everything I had ordered was in stock (and I asked!). Since then I've had three emails, saying they don't have:

2x 80mm (10L) cables

1x 1x6x1 brick with bow

3x 1x8x2 brick with bow

Posted (edited)

The 80mm cables have been removed entirely, and they're sending me a 160mm instead. The two arch bricks have been backordered - the 1x8x2 is saying March, and no date for the other. It's annoying because they said on the phone everything was available, and then have to send me three separate emails over the last 2 days that basically say their system doesn't know what is going on. Luckily I do have the 1x8x2 arches coming from Bricklink, but I really don't want to have to spend yet more money on the 1x6x1. Luckily it is in tan, so isn't too rare.

Customer service has been having issues with their computer systems the past week or so. I had a part cancelled on me due to a shortage of a parts but I called them back and they placed it on back order. In my case I had an older element ID number and the part literally ran out! Fret not, they will help you sort if out. I'm assuming they had a very limited supply of the 80mm pipe, as I was told on numerous occasions that it was discontinued yet when I went to order a few weeks ago they had it in stock! I've been told at times they will get parts back in stock. I'm loving the fact that designers are using more old pieces in new sets and thus we can buy them again.

So, for the longest time now ( well about 10 days  ) my GG project has been hung up waiting for my PAB order. I finally got some tracking updates about a week ago - my package arrived at "Shipping partner facility" on the 22nd and departed on the 23rd. No updates since then... kind of frustrating. The "partner" facility was near Atlanta, relatively close to me in South FL so they must be sending it here on a mule :cry_sad: - over 3 weeks since I placed that PAB order I had no idea it was going to take so long. I'm trying very hard not to buy anything else out of boredom while I am waiting haha!

On a sidenote, I have received almost 50% of my CC parts and 25% of my MS parts... :classic:

Lol mule...I can't track my BnP order but I'm expecting it next week. 10-14 business days...but it is my last order. Speaking of boredom I just picked up the lawn mower polybags from 2013. Toys r us had it for the first time. I seriously go into withdrawal when I don't have something new.

Is that the lime green one with the two horizontal gears (blades/cutters) in front of it? I like the look of that one, definitely better than the red one my son got at one of the monthly store mini-builds last summer.

Yes it was! It's a simple build but very clever with the blades sitting just at the right point to spin as you roll it across the floor.

My recent order had pieces (in stock) that were instantly put in back order. The rep said the order went through okay and is receive it in two days. It didn't ship for another week and I finally received the order two days ago. Still no response on when the other pieces will ship out.

Now I need to place another order, but with all of my modifications it's hard to keep straight what I need.

I think a lot of that flex cable is meant to be cut to length, so the 180 isn't an issue. Just slice it in the middle to get the right length.

At long last the mule has arrived! :classic:

I have verified that I am 100% complete for GG now, 2405/2405 pieces. Construction will commence as soon as the kids are asleep tonight

So glad that GG was my first modular and I only have to build my own CC.

My orders have started arriving - I've got a bunch of smaller ones that fitted through my letterbox, and two packets waiting at the local delivery office. However I don't expect to see my Lego orders for another week at least, though I have had shipping notifications. I'm a bit happier as it looks like one of my backordered bits came back in - I've got 3x 6039349 (Brick with bow 1x8x2) that claim to be on the way.

Very nice cei!

I wish I had grabbed GG but I wasn't quite out of my dark ages when it was still on the shelf at retail. I would have saved myself quite a bit of money - my GG project came in $110 more than my CC will end up costing (granted I am not using any of the 5 stud-high doors or the 2x2x4 box windows from the top floor for CC).

I don't have many orders to go for CC or MS at this point, 6 more BL orders, 1 PAB order and 1 BnP order. The PAB order I received today took 17 days to arrive so it will definitely be at least 2 more weeks for CC and MS.

I still have a 5 unresolved pieces for MS too, the biggest problem are the 4 white hoses. I refuse to pay $20+ a piece that's just a little crazy. I will probably end up buying grey hoses and then picking up some grey robot arms as supports...

Awesome stuff! I got my final order yesterday and have built both the CC and GG. Whew!! I was up till 3:30am. Seeing them in in the flesh all built was quite awesome. Really loving the sets. My CC right now is 99% complete minus the side door. (The used one I got was scratched to hell and I refuse to use it)

Green Grocer on the other hand I somehow messed up a few part counts on my spreadsheet and thus had to place another order for about 5 pieces for the green grocer. Except I just realized I forgot one other piece on the order ugh. The original roof tile I had bought was incorrect from Bricklink.

In any case the sets look fantastic and I'm very happy I did this project. I'll try and do some photos soon.

Awesome Wodanis! I look forward to seeing some pics. I anticipate that I'll be up as late as it takes to get GG together tonight

I'll post some pics too...
