Artizan Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I joined a squad of snowtroopers on a mission to Hoth to recover Alliance intelligence from the abandoned base. However, as we wandered around the corridors, with our winter suits on, we found out that the rebel base was not as abandoned as it seemed. Our troops quickly assembled the E-web blaster cannon and wiped out much of the rebel troops. Then we proceeded to gather data and destroy equipment before more rebels arrived. We also set up the lights to illuminate the snow carved base... ...with an old 9v battery This is my entry for the Episode 3 of Sone series. I hope you enjoy it, and leave a comment. Quote
BEAVeR Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Finally we get to see some real action! And in what kind of setting! The ice formations immedeately caught my eye. Those pillars, stalagmites, stalactites (yes, I've been studying chemistry) look awesome. Apart from the natural elements, the technical elements are great too. The whole battery of those instantly recognizable screens, with those simple but really nice chairs, the spots and than that blaster. Awesomeness all around! What somewhat disturbs the party for me is the fact that some area's look quite bland in comparison with those awesome pieces. especially the floor looks a little dull. And one didn't get much attention at all. I like your ice, so why don't you extend it a bit further across the scene? The base was abandoned for a long time, so the ice got all space. Maybe you could show that further. But what hurts me the most is seeing a wounded fellow Imperial, while I don't see any Rebel corpses...! Quote
Lobot Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Great work Artizan, you've captured the look of Echo Base really well. I particularly like the design of the corridor and the arches in the ceiling I guess that you didn't want to show any festive spirit towards the Rebels, which is totally understandable Quote
korpen4444 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 This is an awesome build! The corridor is nicely built, and I guess our troops have the computers to hide behind . Bring home one for the Empire Artizan! Quote
Mr Man Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Just standing with an E-Web slaughtering the rebels as they egress the tunnel, It reminds me of Battlefront . Also really nice job on the computer banks and the ice formations outside the tunnel. Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I love the stalagmites, computers, and the floodlights. Great details. It almost feels too cluttered though. I'm all for using exposed studs, but there are just sooo many that it might be detracting from the overall build. Maybe add some white tiles as snow drifts? Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Really nice base! The hanging wire and other details make this very accurate to the movie. But if you want it to be more realistic, you should let the Rebel win... Quote
LegoFjotten Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Excellent work! I like the overall scene, and the area where the rebels enter is probably my favourite with the arches and stalagmites/tites. The discoloured bricks add some grit to the scene! The use of "rocket" piece for the chairs was clever, now why didn't I think of that! Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Another great entry from the Empire! The snow and ice work is really nicely done. I'd only sugest to use some more inverted slopes towards the top of the walls, since the chambers weren't exactly cubic cut. The computers and the whole control room is excellent and there's just enough junk lying around so the place does not look empty. One minor problem I really don't like are some very dirty bricks ... TWP Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Good work! The part where the rebels are coming out looks the best to me, especially that nice stalacmite/stalactite. The greebling everywere is well executed too! I do however think the part in the middle looks a bit boring, the controls look very plain. I also see a bit too much exposed studs, a little less might be better. Oh, and stop shooting with that E-web at the entrance, it's unfair, even stormtroopers would be able to hit people like that!
