Vee Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 Or do not connect the middle 1x3 tile (i.e. use a red brick without side stud), just wedge the tile between the two horizontal parts. The ½ plate too much in length can go on the left, near the pole, to be less visible than when it is on the right like on your picture. I tried that (in real life) and the grasp to the tile is weak, not enough attrition, the tile is too smooth at the top, it slides easily. Quote
antp Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) Then if you invert the brick and the 1x1 plate the tile would already be at a better place, no? Or is it missing a few tenth of mm of space near the pole? Edited January 9, 2014 by antp Quote
Vee Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) Then if you invert the brick and the 1x1 plate the tile would already be at a better place, no? Or is it missing a few tenth of mm of space near the pole? Sorry, I don't follow you. The 1x3 tile is a little longer than the rest but if I could have it centered along with the top and bottom bricks, it could look so so,but the grooves in the 1x3 tile do not allow it. The tile, as it is, fits either too much to the right or too much to the left (where it then collides with the pole). A solution would be to remove the groove (cut it out), make it like the 1x2 tiles without groove. And also, to cut the 1x3 tile shorter half a plate. Edited January 9, 2014 by Vee Quote
antp Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) I meant swap the red 1x1 brick and red 1x1 plate, but keep the tile attached to the same stud. But it looks like that then the tile is too much on the left despite the extra space added by the clip :/ Edited January 9, 2014 by antp Quote
Vee Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 I understand now what you mean. Such swap makes the 1x3 tile to collide badly with the pole and yet, even if I had no pole, it is not aligned to the right. Quote
Vee Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 Well, the solution was to follow jamesn's advice and go for a 4 stud (like the one I already had done but with the transparent plates at the back). Here it it, I think it is nicer than the one I had done before. A little out of proportions and big but, well, it is Lego world. Here, the two compared. Quote
jimmynick Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 This looks much nicer! I'm glad you've made a solution you're happy with. Quote
Lyichir Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 With real parts... That looks fantastic! Out of curiosity, what building do you intend to use it on? Quote
Vee Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 On top of my bricklinked Ole Kirk's House that already has some landscape around. It is a "replacement" for the original sticker that I will never have. Quote
