joopsta Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Since there is much info the last couple of months on the 2014 releases, what is your 'definitly going to buy' list for this year. And ofcourse WHY?. Here's mine. - 2x Star Wars AT-AT. My little sons love Star Wars and they both love the walkers. - Lego Movie Sea Cow ship. I love the design. Not sure if I am actually going to build it. Thinks it will stay sealed. - Lego Movie Bennies spaceship. Love it! I got a lot of Lego Space when I was young. Brings back memories. - Lego Simpsons house. Love the design and I also think this set will be the 2014 top investment of Lego sets. No need for me to build it though. Quote
Gnac Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 ALL the Creator stuff ALL the Mixels stuff And the Friends collectables and Chima Legend Beasts for my girly colours and nifty spare parts needs. I am interested in that Simpsons house, but I will be broke from working through my wantlist. Quote

cimddwc Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Well, let's see... I already got the Parisian Restaurant and ordered the Mars rover; so I still "need": - Simpsons house - City trains - Movie spaceship - some more Movie sets - Chima legend beasts (multiple for parts) - Minifigures and Friends animals - likely some other D2C set they'll surprise us with :) - Lugbulk - bunch of Bricklink orders... Probably won't buy due to lack of space and parts reusability (and, well, money), but might change my mind: - Maersk ship - Sea Cow - Sydney Opera So it looks like another expensive year... Edit: maybe Creator bike shop and cafe - depending on how it looks Edited January 6, 2014 by cimddwc Quote

Cwetqo Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Its going to be a difficult year. There are so many good sets that it will be essential to buy just the best ones. For me: D2C 10243 Parisienne restaurant 71006 Simpsons house Technic: 42025 Cargo plane 42030 Volvo front loader Lego movie 70816 Bennys spaceship SW 75054 AT-AT 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer 75052 Mos eisly cantina Trains 60051 High speed passanger train 60052 Cargo train 60050 Train station Quote
Lyichir Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I can't finalize any wanted list for the year until I've seen what's in store for the summer. Once Toy Fair hits I should have a better idea of which sets are most appealing to me and which ones have the most desirable figs (and conversely, would give me the fewest duplicates). That said, I've started putting together a list that comprises both my "must-buys" and my "potential purchases" (which may be added to the must-buy list once I have more information about what summer has in store). My must-buy list currently contains: 10243 Parisian Restaurant (Our family has all of the modular buildings save for the Market Street, so we would be remiss not to get this) 44018 Furno Jet Machine (Aanchir's favorite of the winter Hero Factory wave) 44022 Evo XL Machine (My favorite of the winter Hero Factory wave) 70724 Ninjacopter (Ninjago, for the most part, is still up in the air until we've seen what's available this summer, but unless another set features both Pixal AND battle-damaged Zane, this one is a must-buy) 70800 Getaway Glider (The Lego Movie sets are some of the ones we know the most about for the summer. This set is cheap, packed full of useful parts, and has figs that don't look to be appearing later this year) 70803 Cloud Cuckoo Palace (Uni-Kitty is one of my favorite Lego Movie characters, and this is the kind of set I'd regret not getting down the line) 70807 MetalBeard's Duel (The MetalBeard in the Sea Cow may not be fully accurate; and besides, I don't know yet if the Sea Cow will be worth the purchase) 70809 Lord Business' Evil Lair (I do love me a good evil lair set. This one looks to be the only set to feature the fully-outfitted Lord Business, and also has Biznis Kitty as well as the Kragle) 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! (The only summer set so far that I know to be an insta-purchase. A luscious send-up to classic space that features Benny as well as a Uni-Kitty in a spacesuit with a classic space "cutie mark"!) My potential purchases list is so far made up of Friends sets (which are great this year, but I don't collect that theme compulsively), Ninjago sets (which I'm waiting until Toy Fair to decide on, so I don't get TOO many duplicate ninja), Hero Factory sets (which again, are on hold until I've seen the summer sets and can figure out the optimal way to get the best sets with the fewest duplicate figs), and Lego Movie sets (many of which don't feature main characters even if they're fine sets in their own right). Freddy Bricker Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Hope I'm not too late to the party, but it goes as follows: 9450 Epic Dragon Battle (I NEED that set) 9448 Samurai Mech (might need to update that next week ) 7931 T-6 Jedi Shuttle (Just got 7930 a month ago, so now I'm craving that set even more, and Shaak Ti) 9526 Palpatine's Arrest (It wasn't released with the regular 2012 Summer Wave, which SHOULD mean I could still get it ) 71006 Simpsons House (my first 2014 want!) The entire Collectible minifigures series (Lego Movie) CMF Series 10 Grandpa CMF Series 10 Mr. Gold, but that's not happening any time soon. 10211 Grand Emporium 10218 Pet Shop 60026 Town Square Also need to go to a Lego store for the first time (I'm a Lego store virgin ) and buy enough pick a brick red fire pieces to stimulate a serious fire so that my Lego fire fighters have something to do all day! Hrw-Amen Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Lotr Black Gate. Hobbit Lake Town Chase Hobbit Dol Guldor Ambush Any other Hobbit or Lotr sets issued this year. The New CITY Trains All CMF including Movie & (Probably Simpsons CMF, not a big fan for to have a complete set.) The Movie Benny's Spaceship. Any other space related sets. BrickG Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Much of the Star Wars summer wave (until then I only want the new chewie). Maybe the Simpsons house. The Ninja Turtles stuff. Much of the Marvel and DC stuff. Edited January 6, 2014 by BrickG Quote
Paul B Technic Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The only "must buy" on my list is 42024 (http://www.lego.com/en-us/technic/products/new/42024) I am also going to try and track down some cheap Technic sets just for parting out and MOCíng Quote
TeufelHund Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 At the moment I've only pencilled in Death Star Troopers and Mos Eisley Cantina (I already have the last versions of the AT AT and ISD). No doubt there will be some Castle/LOTR/Hobbit sets as well once more details become available. I'll pick up Ewok Village for my birthday present - maybe a Sand Crawler if the rumour is true and its a decent set. Possibly the small Lego The Movie Cowboy set as a parts pack and for the nice cowboy torsos. Other than that, a lot depends on what the second half of the year sets look like and what D2C sets are announced. Quote
KringlesBricks Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Definite must haves for 2014: 1. Parisian Restaurant (which I am getting from my parents - no cost to me) 2. Simpsons House 3. Mars Rover Potential Buys for 2014 depending on money: 1. All Lego Movie Sets Other than those sets...I'm still investing in my massive Train Station build I started in July 2013 - still a WIP (around 10,000 pieces in counting). It's eaten up about $2000 worth of pieces through BL, PaB, and store picks. I may get the 2014 train sets depending what they look like - I get picky on how certain sets look. I end up modding sets after I build them. Quote
Mikuri Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 - A few technic sets, mainly big ones. - Entire Chima 2014 waves. - Maybe some LOTR/Hobbit sets. Quote
Junpei Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 For me: 70080 Getaway Glider. And that's pretty much it. Maybe an 8880 too. TLH Quote
danth Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Benny's Spaceship Cuusoo Exo-suit (if it includes the classic space operator) Arctic theme Agents theme (if the sets are good) Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 For sure purchases are a few exclusives that I want to get before they are retired (Arkham, UCS R2-D2, Palace Cinema). Definitely all Super Hero sets and then all Middle Earth related sets that may come out this year. Summer Star Wars AT-AT and Mos Eisley are both possibilities. And any CMF lines that come out. It will still add up to quite a bit, but maybe not as high of quantity as normal. There are pieces/figures I will want from the LEGO movie sets, but I don't really want too many of the actual sets. The Simpson's house is questionable. As much as I love the show, I don't know if I can get the set. It looks rather bland for the price. But I may end up getting it in the end. It will just have to be put on my Exclusives list with the rest and hope I get to it before it is retired. Quote
