Endgame Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) "I don't really see what he can provide us either, to be perfectly honest... We may just want to send him back asleep and with his arms and feet bound. Shall I write a note?" Edited June 17, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Sandy Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 When Olfus Dumb-O-Bore falls to the ground, Heckz examines the book on the floor closely... The book contains details of the Academy's finances. From a quick glance it is evident that most of the income comes from the Six Houses. Erik doesn't have time to think of anything diplomatic before the dean is put to sleep. "Looks like it all got too much for him. We should just send him back. I doubt he could tell us anything new anyway." He steps carefully over the sleeping provost, and examines the gold statue. "Good at his job, is he?" "Umm, didn't he shout this was somehow all his fault? I for one would like to know what he meant with it... If he tried to kill himself, he must've done something really nasty." "YEAH, WASN'T IT THE HILLBILLY THAT WE CHASING AFTER?" Erik picks up the gold statue. It must be at least 100 gold in value. Drucilla gives the shaman a sharp glance. "That is the provost's trophy. I don't think he would appreciate you taking it." Quote

"I believe that deserves minus, say, 10.000 gold from your quest reward. Don't you think?" He waits for Sorrow to remedy the dean. Quote
Endgame Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) I chuckle. Kintobor Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 OOC: I didn't state I wanted to pocket the dagger, Sandy, so I don't know why you would come to that conclusion. I know you're busy with your birthday, but it's stuff like this that gets me agitated. Happy Birthday, by the way! "It's nice letter opener. Nothing much to it, really." Karie puts the letter opener back on the desk, preferably in a drawer, away from the Dean. Heckz notices Karie trying to take the knife without the teacher's seeing her. "So, taking school property eh?!" He says loud enough for the teachers to hear. He takes out a piece of parchment and pretends to be writing notes in it, when in reality he is drawing scribbles. "I believe that deserves minus, say, 10.000 gold from your quest reward. Don't you think?" Karie scoffs. "Heckz, if I wanted to steal this dagger I would've done so in a much more secretive manner. Not that you'd know anything about being secretive." "Unless you plan to my granddaughter into crippling debt right before her engagement?" "He probably would." Karie states blunt. Quote

Not that you'd know anything about being secretive." "Oh, that's fairly disappointing. I really wanted to not give someone money at the end of the quest. " He throws the parchment away, in which there's a drawing of a stick man with blonde hair holding the hands of a lady dressed in black and green. I chuckle. "Trust me, if we were all going to get enough gold to deduct 10,000 from, we'd all be drinking martinis in vineyards instead of strutting through this horrible place. "Umm, didn't he shout this was somehow all his fault? I for one would like to know what he meant with it... If he tried to kill himself, he must've done something really nasty." "Yeah, I think he's just panicking and blaming himself. Perhaps he had to deal with this hillbilly fellow, or his dead daughter, and now the guy's gone mad and decided to kill everyone, the dean wonders if he could have managed things differently to avoid this all happening. But thats all in the past. There's nothing anyone can do about it now, except kill these demons and find the rest of the children, and maybe kill this mad magician.""If you think we should wake him and ask questions, though, be my guest." Erik says. He turns to the rest of the party, but sees them all arguing over a knife, or a wedding, or something. This statue... I wonder if it's important to the dean? I wouldn't want to upset him more than he already is. Erik thinks to himself. Well, it might get lost in the void anyway, if we can't teleport this building back, and it could be destroyed even if we do. I'm sure there was some reason we decided not to risk leaving the children in here while we teleport it back. He glances at the teachers, to see if they are distracted by Heckz' accusation to Karie, and if they are distracted he takes the small gold statue, and hides it with his other items. I can always return it when we get out. "Sorsha, you might want to grab that silver cup. Sometimes unholy creatures are weak to silver, I hear, and you've shown yourself to be good at fighting with improvised weapons." Quote

Kintobor Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 QM Note: I'm really sorry about the misinterpretation. It's just that usually when players "examine" specific items that look like they could be equipped, they want them for themselves. Why else would they examine them in the first place? Did you expect to find a demon inside the letter knife or something? I understand, Sandy. I was just mildly curious if it was worth taking a look at, considering it was gold and shiny and potentially more than a WP: 1 item. I'm not all that angry about it, so don't worry too much about it. The dean has no hidden weapons or poisons in his possession, so Sorrow wakes him up with a remedy. "Huh, where am...? Oh, right." The dean takes off his glasses and rubs his eyes, then looks at the party in shame. "I'm supposed to be the new provost of this condemned institution, and I'm doing a lousy job at it, am I not? Gods know how many are dead or dying by now..." "Not many, Dean Bumblebore, since these valiant heroes of Heroica came to our rescue. We heard you shouting this was your fault somehow. What exactly did you mean by that?" "I... I..." the dean's eyes shift quickly across the room, looking for an escape route. "Wait, wait, wait. I thought Lector was the Provost. Myrddyn Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I want to make clear that nobody is stopping you from taking all these items from the school. You will get scornful looks from the teachers in the party, for sure, but actions tend to have consequences. You can still take the items by all means, the teachers will just think less of you for that. I didn't realise that at first, but I figured it out by the time Erik got the last couple of torches. The problem is that Erik isn't really a thief, but Myrddyn is, so I need to find ways to steal stuff without breaking character. Noticing the Dean has woken up, Erik runs over, somehow managing to forget about his recently acquired trophy. "Look, sir, I'm sure no-one will hold any mistakes against you. It's all in the past now, but the important thing is to make sure the children are all right, and the information you have might be able to help them." Quote

"So, Mister Such-A-Bore, what do you mean by 'new provost'. You don't look like a man up for the job, because of your suicidal ways and your ugly ways." "Ah, Darlavon Lector is not retiring. It is just that during his absence, I am the vice-provost. This situation is exactly like two years ago, except worse. The only answer I can think of is that she has returned to avenge me." "Who is this she you are talking about, Olfus?" "She... was a student here. Isabeau Carpenter. My sweet, clever Isabeau...Two years ago I... I didn't mean to do it, but I was just so desperate... She said she was going to tell everyone! That would have been the end of my career, do you understand?! But I should have known that the truth always prevails, one way or another... She has tormented my dreams ever since, not giving me a moment's rest." "Olfus." Drucilla's voice turns cold as ice. "What did you do to Isabeau Carpenter?" And Dean Bumblebore lets it all out, telling the whole story of his twisted affair with a 16-year old student. The girl was bullied and discriminated by students and teachers alike, for being from a poor family but smarter than most. The dean felt sympathy for her, and in time it turned into a lust. At first Isabeau was enthralled by the dean's kindness, but when she realized his true emotions, she tried to refuse him. The dean could not bear it, so he caught her by surprise in the girl's lavatory, where he raped and killed her. Afterwards, he tossed the girl's body through the manhole into the sewers below the Academy. But the girl's ghost lingered on, unable to go on due to all the wrong that had been done to her. "Please, kill me now. End this nightmare." Quote
Endgame Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 "Please, kill me now. End this nightmare." I onceal my emotions as well as I can, wanting to recieve the most rational reply I can. "Killing you won't fix the school and return it Eubric, will it? Just put you out of your misery." Quote
Kintobor Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 OOC: Bumblebore stated that he, I'm going to assume, raped and killed Isabeau two years ago. However, the quest in which Isabeau's spirit was dispelled was three years ago. How is that possible? I hate to say this Sandy, but I think you've made a flub. Karie was stunned. Shock runs through her body, followed by another emotion, one she hadn't truly felt in a long time. She hadn't felt it since that night in the Locunon. That night being tormented by the Apprentice. Rage coursed through her veins. She clenched her fists. "Sorrow, do you mind if I speak my mind?" Quote

Myrddyn Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Erik is shocked. I wasn't thinking he'd done something that bad when I said it is all in the past. And he's begging us to kill him. I have no clue what the "correct moral choice" is here. "Well, how about we leave you alive for now, and in a few weeks, if you still feel it's the right course of action, you can kill yourself, or find someone else to kill you. It keeps your blood off my hands, and it gives you time to think about it." "It also means you can probably have a cleaner death than we can provide here. Plenty of fairly painless poisons you could use, for example." Quote
-obelix- Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 "Please, kill me now. End this nightmare." Thalion steps up and looks at the dean, speaking in his usual, rational voice; his emotions hidden behind his dark hood, but plainly visible in his gaze, "After all that you said, that would be the easy way out, have us or someone else release you from you torment, with your blood being on another's hands, and that - you will not get! I dont know if you are responsible for the Academy being in the state it is in, but one thing is certain, you will be brought to justice not execution, and you will answer for your crimes!" emphasizing several words and phrases, but pronouncing "justice" with sound as hard as steel. Endgame Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 "Sorrow, do you mind if I speak my mind?" I step back. "...Do what you must." Quote
