gazumpty Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Great work LT...I say push yourself with a Victorian style exterior thats been renovated with modern touches outside and in :) Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Thanks for the suggestion 'gazumpty' and thanks also to 'tomdobs55' for your kind words too. Actually in many South Aussie towns the banks are the oldest structures and more classical looking.....even more than my art deco-ish ANZ from a few years back. Now a rubbish bin......I forgot a rubbish bin.....better fix that today.......keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 There is a surprise in New Mannum today....... Looks like I few new people are living and working around my town.......keep watching ! Quote
sin Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I'm liking the uptick in human activity, seemed a little desolate with so many cool stores before! I'll be checking back to see your dumpster haha (and bank of course ). Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Yeah, well after they finished making the LEGO Movie many of the cast moved here to escape the rat race of Hollywood ! I'll need to build that roadhouse to have a dumpster next to. Did anyone count the number of movie CMF's there.......there is five....look carefully in distance shots and inside the supermarket......granny trying some Tex-Mex samples ! Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) I need a little help to chose....... A lot chose from......some of the old ones are still in use as banks today.....though perhaps different bank names on them. As you can see it's hard choice so a little help is called for. Keep watching ! Edited January 17, 2014 by lightningtiger Quote
sin Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I like the pic on the top right. There are several in there that fit the bill though! Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I like the first one. The angled corner should be a good challenge and something different Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 I like the first one. The angled corner should be a good challenge and something different I was thinking of building a corner one similar and it might be more realistic for it operating still in this century. Thanks for the feedback 'tomdobs55'...........what does everyone else think ? Quote
monsinjor Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I like the third one...with the balcony. You don't have any balcony in your city But I believe that whatever you choose it will be splendid! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 I like the third one...with the balcony. You don't have any balcony in your city But I believe that whatever you choose it will be splendid! Ah, yes......I could tie it into a row of structures and include a pub/hotel.......thanks for the suggestion 'monsinjor'.......keep watching ! Quote
SalvoBrick Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The fifth or the seventh. Any shot of the whole town? ;) Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 The fifth or the seventh. Any shot of the whole town? ;) The seventh one pictured is still a bank, though an ANZ now.......I'll try later for an overview shot of what NM is at the moment. Thanks for the suggestions 'SalvoBrick'.......keep watching ! Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Hey LT, my kids love your town and keep telling me to work a little more so we can fly to Australia and look at it. Quote
scottwb2010 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Really liking how your street is coming along. A lot of great details. As for the bank, I like the 5th one's detail. Quote
Kristel Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 There's some really nice bank buildings there. My favourites are the first one, B8270 and B60657. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Hey LT, my kids love your town and keep telling me to work a little more so we can fly to Australia and look at it. Well, then work a little harder......only joking. Maybe you can create something similar yourself but base it somewhere from a town in the USA ? Edit - Thanks 'scottwb2010' and 'Kristel' for your feedback.......looks like number 5 could be the one to go with. Now to see if this building still lives via Goggle Maps.....at least it's in SA......so hopefully I get work out the colours/tones of the stone/brick work......keep watching ! Edit 2 - FOUND IT ! It is still a bank, in Maitland.......a Bank SA owned by Westpac, though Bank SA was born out of the failed State Bank which was born out of the old Savings Bank Of South Australia......hence the name on the original building. LukeWarmTea Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Nice! Can't wait to see the bank. My fave was the first one too - a corner site build would be excellent fun. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Nice! Can't wait to see the bank. My fave was the first one too - a corner site build would be excellent fun. Thanks 'LWT', perhaps if I show the second one again but in modern times........ Of course minus those flags.....might be a cheaper option for me......dollars and cents are a little tight, hence why I haven't started on the bank......but I will. Quote
sin Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 That was my original preference, I knew you would come through I think that facade has some cool details that would transfer to Lego very well - the stone blocks at the corners of the building, the arched window tops etc. I'll be looking forward to seeing how you interpret this! Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Can see that translating really nice into Lego can't wait to see it! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Thanks 'sin' and 'tomdobs55' for your added feedback. Okay, so it's the first one now.......I'll start designing it in LDD, I'll try to have it started in brick a.s.a.p.......keep watching. Quote
KeepLeft Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 The little details you put in really create the scene and has given me some ideas I am going to try out. Great work. Quote

Keep watching ! I like #3 and #1. #3 is very different from your typical buildings with some brickwork and the nice second floor balcony. #1 has that nice angled entrance that would work well. (and would also make a real nice ground floor for a modular MOC). Most of the other banks look kind of disturbingly like mausoleums. Quote

Thanks 'KeepLeft', maybe you could use ideas from your own country as well.......we can all have a Lego geography lesson.
