kittridge Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I really love this set (I'll definitely be picking it up) and I know it sounds like nitpicking, but it's irking me that the room placement is completely off from what it is in the show. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Such a lovely set... Love the price! Also, the release date is so much sooner- thanks Carlos! It appears we were both wrong, though now I'm confused. In the regular Simpsons thread, CM4S linked to the January Lego calender, which has January 17 stated for an early release of a set (Sea Cow?) and a "preview" of a set to come later on in the year, and that will be available Feb. 17, so does that mean this will get 2 press releases? Lego's Facebook page does say the set will be available on Feb. 17. I wonder what's in stores for VIP's that day. Edited January 8, 2014 by Freddy Bricker Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Where's Lisa's sax?! How could they miss that! Love this set and the price is superb! Thank goodness it's out so soon! A clear 10/10 that I imagine I will keep along with the Death Star for ever. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I do feel like the minifigures could use some more outlines to help them look cartoony. Oh, and I "fixed" the eyes. Maybe the blind bags will have good eyes. ;p (made in 3 minutes and rushed) I like the black lines and the eyes look good, the only thing about the figs I don't like is the mouths, They all look like teenage girls making the duck face. Though I doubt they could get black lines across on the legs. I also want to comment that I have no idea why people don't want to buy this set because of the minifigures, they are so easily surpassed in the quality of the house, which makes up for everything really. Do I spy a car that can sit two minifigs side by side.......OMG ! Lego's designers have finally built a realistic kind of vehicle (even though it's a cartoon one ). It has every room with such perfect detailing......but why has Bart a pink music system.....must be Lisa's.....he didn't do, you can't prove a thing ! Could this be one of best Lego sets ever.......the first review might tell us. I'd call it the best Lego set ever, though some fall close. I hope we get more set so that we can have Barts tree house, tree house of horror anybody? Also, sorry for the double post. Quote
KristofBD Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Fantastic set - and pretty cheap as well, given what you get LEGO-wise! I love the designer video by the way. Quote
BrickG Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Lego minifigures don't really suit themselves towards automobiles strangely. Due to the proportions and the odd way they sit without losing much height cars need to be unusually big, basically big rig height :P. Standing by a car in real life and most adults are taller but not Lego cars! Quote
Saberwing40k Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 There's some cool techniques in here, but I'm still passing. I don't really like the Simpsons. (Aside from the movie, which had some pretty funny moments.) Quote
Dane Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Truly a fantastic set, going far beyond what I had expected of the Simpson house set. As a big fan of the Simpsons series I must say it is actually incredible how much interior details from the series they have managed to fit into the house With the local price in mind it is probably out of my price range but I would love to have this, so perhaps time to start to save up... Where's Lisa's sax?! How could they miss that! Lego already made a perfect Sax in the normal minifig collectors series so I'm almost 100% sure that there will be a Lisa fig with that sax piece in the Simpsons minifig collectors series. Kez Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Wow oh wow, another great job by Marcos and the lego team, I certainly can't wait to buy this set, its a shame that I spent a lot of my lego budget on all of this years DC and other sets, but I certainly have to cash out for this one, this is possibly one of the best, if not the best lego set ever made. Such fantastic detail in this set, even though everything may not be perfect its still awesome and I liked the designer video explaining the design process more than the actual set itself, doing so has actually made me more eager to buy this set Quote
Zzz Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 The set is really good and certainly a dream come true for many fans and not even that expensive (200€ is a lot of money, don't get me wrong, but not for what you get here). Personally, I am more thrilled for the Mos Isley Cantina, so I am afraid that is where my money goes. Still, I have to admit this set is tempting. Perhaps I will be turned to the yellow side of the force once I get my hands on the blind bags. 2,50 for Simpsons minifigs? Count me in! Quote
jonwil Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I didn't like this set at first because although I like The Simpsons I didn't have much use for the parts selection that was spotted in the initial photo. But now that I have detail pics, I am torn by all the interesting and useful parts in the set vs all the crap I cant use and dont want (and the high AU price for this thing) Will probably have to wait for a part inventory to make a final decision :) Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Here are my oohs and ahhs: Ooh, Ahh... It looks fantastic! BrickG's rendering of Bart looks great. Much better wide-eyed than 'stoned'. Not sure why TLG did that in the first place. Hope they are noting the criticism on that. I'm suprised the cat, dog, and Lisa's baritone weren't included, even if TLG only has a mold for an alto Quote
KringlesBricks Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Wow...nice job TLG on the design of the Simpsons House! It turned out real well. I would have to say this is and the Parisian Restaurant have to be the best modulars to have come out in the past 6-7 years of modular/house sets for both interior and exterior design. I really like how the designer used colorful and unique pieces to really make the interior rooms "pop". I just wish I had the $200 to buy this...even though I have $45 in VIP to help buy it. I wonder if February 17th is the date set for early access for VIP's to buy this set. I'm tempted to just buy it on a collector side of things (leaving it in the box) - just seeing how collecting this will be once it's not sold any more. I know I'd regret it if I don't snatch it before its not sold any more. Quote
Cult_Of_Skaro Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 This set has totally eclipsed my desire for 10188. There is, literally, nothing I feel could be better here. And the short sleeves are going to be revolutionary! Quote
pranas Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Yessssssss! I was fearing that is would be $250+ and unattainable. But $199? I might actually be able to get it now! Woo-hoo! What do you think the odds of it being still on the shelves come next fall (my birthday) or Christmas? That's probably the only way I'll be able to get it. Quote
marcosbessa Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 In the video, he specifically says: "We have molded sleeves and shorts in the minifig." He mentions both the sleeves and shorts in the same sentence, which would imply that both are molded. I can accept that the arms are two pieces but the shorts definitely look printed. In the end, I bet both are simply painted but with much better opaque paint. (...) Thank you for that gigantic close up to my horrible nails!! xD I said it and I repeat: both the arms and the minilegs have both colors molded!! There's no decoration or printing involved! ;) Neat, uh? ;) Quote
Cult_Of_Skaro Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 ^Incredibly neat! I've been waiting for good LEGO shorts and short sleeves for ages, so these equal my excitement for the actual set! Incidentally, at under 8 cents per brick, this has got to be one of the best value licensed sets. Quote
fhomess Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I'm not a big Simpsons fan and will be passing on this. While it looks good compared to the original, the house is rather plain and way too big to fit in with City sets. The fig obviously don't go with other Lego, either. Some interesting parts I may have to BL, but that will be about it for me. Quote
Leela Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Woohoo! This set is so awesome that I can't believe it's real. I love the minifigs and I love everything about the house. A dream come true. Such a colorful, happy dream. Sure I miss some things (pets, saxophone) but it's beautiful anyway. And I even like the price (though it's really a lot to me). I have to wait a few months before I get it, but once I have it I'll be playing with it everyday. I'll be putting the entire family to sleep in their beds every evening before closing the house for the night. And I'll make sure they'll never hungry. And I'll be putting them in front of the TV everyday so they can watch Itchy and Scratchy. And... um, yeah.. Quote

There's no decoration or printing involved! ;) Neat, uh? ;) Hey, Marcos, thanks for the info! And thanks also for keeping in touch with us here in general. You've created some fantastic models, and I wish I could get them all. I will definitely try to get as many as I can! Quote
Cult_Of_Skaro Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 What do people mean, the minifigures don't fit with LEGO? The only non regular parts (excluding new toddler legs) are the heads. Shouldn't we all be used to this after 13 years of LEGO Star Wars? Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) I will hate Lego if that Baby-body will be never reused again. Such potential! Edited January 8, 2014 by Lordofdragonss Quote
